Just wondering if a North American Release date has been put out there at all? I looked around, but couldn't see one.

I highly doubt they'll announce any release date before Platinum is released in Europe. And if it's going to be released in fall 2009 in Japan, it's probable that it's released sometime early in 2010 in the US maybe?

Even though there isn't even a date in Japan, I'm sure you guys have a general idea, I seen people basically guess Platinum's date here, so it's probably okay to say maybe around 6 months after the Japanese release.

I'm guessing they're going to aim for Holiday '09, but there's no official indication at all yet. We'll probably get release information (of at least hints) at E3 in a couple weeks.

I'd guess March '10, a year after Platinum.

Well, I anticipate HGSS being released on the 10-year anniversary of GS in Japan. As for NA, March 10 sounds reasonable.

Why do they always have to make us wait so long cant they just release it in a couple weeks after the japaneese date like most games

Nintendo probably hasn't restructureds for a more 'global' localization for each of their games.

They very well might, though it's a ridiculous long shot. More likely will be a couple of months after - someone (I forget who) was guessing Sept. 19 for the Japanese release (a Saturday, which was when Platinum was released, and it corresponds with new figurines, which has happened before), which would put an American release a couple months later right during prime holiday hopping season. I'm a little skeptical, partly because Sept. 19 is a few days before the autumnal equinox, so its viability largely depends on how Nintendo defines "Autumn" - but if it's not then, it will likely be soon after, and it doesn't seem like it would take more than one or two months for translation and localization for North America to be finished anyway. When you think about it, there's really not all that much to it, and the usual long delay is generally because the teams are working on several games at once. But it wouldn't surprise me at all if localization was already going on during development, or, at the very least, if these games were given top priority and localized as fast as possible after the Japanese release. Mid-late winter seems like one of the worst times to launch a game, especially in this economic climate, and especially a game whose target audience generally has their parents buy the games for them - but Christmas gifts bought from late November through December are the one sure exception.

As for other regions like Europe and Australia...search me. Nintendo seems to be all over the map lately in that area, from the seemingly interminable wait for Platinum, to the release of the DSi in Europe and Australia a few days before its release in the U.S. So I really have no clue.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could all just work together?

I've never heard a good reason for the big gaps with the exception of, "oh, we're localizing it." yeah, sure ya are.

There's a loooootta text there. But this time around, like FRLG, it shouldn't take as long as the main games.

That figure guy is me thank you very much. Anyway a holiday release is exactly what nintendo needs. A perfect time for people to get the stockings stuffed and not to mention this is a much much much more demanded game thenfr/lg. E3 would be the perfect time to get everyone hyped and all. Also Nintendo has several if not a handful of secret titles both for the Wii and DS. Now then while this isn't secret it is unknown to the states which they direct the whole secret thing to. I personally would be stumped as to why not make such a bold move when its the smartest move.

Or they might release it in March as usual. I mean now there are claims of Nintendo announcing games in November. So to me at least thing are up in the air.

Well, I know one thing: however close it's released to GS's Japanese 10th anniversary, it had better be released in the US long before GS's English one.

Okay there is no way they'll even mention pokemon HG&SS at this years E3 last year they never even bothered to mention platinum and were scrapped for ideas so the only mention of pokemon was just revealing the pokemon ranger 2 release date and I don't think they want us in america to learn about pokemon games early maybe thats why they didn't mention it whitch is really unfair concidering how with the internet nearly half of all pokemon fans probably know about the remake

I sometimes get the feeling the Big N hasn't got a clue what the internet is.

A) Platinum was still a while away fromAmerican release, B) E3 was still in its reduced form last year, as opposed to this year' revival, and C) HGSS is a much bigger deal than Platinum. We won't know for sure until E3 actually happens.

The most likely North American release for HG/SS is March 2010, add to that the fact that E3 is a month earlier this year. It's still a good possibility that they won't say anything about it. Now, like you said, E3 has gone from being "just another game show" to the definitive gaming mega show it once was, so there is a chance they might show it, but it's a very slim chance.
