When you think of Red, which design comes to mind?

Which do you prefer?

His original design or his newer one?

I've noticed almost all of the fandom dismisses his new design in HGSS. Everyone draws his new design for FRLG (and Brawl) and acknowledges it there but when it comes to HGSS everyone seems to prefer his old design.

I don't get it. His new design seems a lot better in my opinion. Red's older design seemed..Limited. With his new one he can be cute, serious, depressed, stotic, giggly, happy, seme, uke, eleven, fourteen, etc.

It's especially odd when they draw everyone else in their new designs but him, or when they draw him with his new clothing but old design.

His HGSS design is the same as his FRLG design, but a bit different colors, and his sprite is bigger due to the size of trainer sprites in Gen IV

But I prefer his HGSS design, it looks better then his FRLG by colors and size imo.

Different colors? How? It looks exactly the same. Same hair color, same hair style, same design, same clothing, etc.

It most likely just looks different to you due to it being a DS game. FRLG and HGSS look vastly different.

Maybe I made it unclear. "New design" equals his remake design.

Yeah, well.. Actually, when I look at the sprite again, the only different colors are the colors of his pants.. And his shirt is black in HGSS and blue in FRLG.

I guess he just changed his pants then.

Anyway, back to the main discussion..

Red's original design is so over-rated. Sure, he's the Pokemon trainer and that design is iconic but..

Stop, seriously. He has a new design. Acknowledge it at least. It's much better anyway

I think of the better RGBY/GSC design. Maybe there wasn't any age difference, but the outfit and hair were much better.

In LeafGreen I went with Leaf both because she's awesome and because the new Red design failed for me.

His original one. Probably because all of my red fanart is of that outfit.

I prefer his RBG artwork. I did play FR and LG but I just always remember him in his original outfit.

Both.

Original hat, new everything else. Although if I were to draw him, he'd probably end up looking more like original Red than new one.

FR/LG outfit. It makes him look really cool.

The original artwork for his old outfit made Red look kinda childish and dumb. The fanarts made his original outfit look much better, though.

FR/LG design. I've grown accustomed to it, so that's how I see him mentally nowadays.

His FR/LG/Brawl outfit really. It's more iconic for him as whenever I see the Gen I art for him, I think of it as Akira Toriyama drawing Ash Ketchum for whatever reason, and yes I know that one of Sugimori's influences was Toriyama. It does show in the early art.

I think of the first design ever when I think of him. With his hat tilted down and everything.

The badass design.
The one where be becomes a recluse in the mountains, in Gold/Silver/Crystal/HeartGold/SoulSilver.

Then again, all of his designs are awesome.
