Where WERE they sold?

So, when they first came, out, where were the various manga sold? I remember buying Pikachu Shocks Back (from Electric Tale of Pikachu) issues at Target. I loved them (and I still do), but I only got two. I would've bought more, but the things were as elusive as Robert Denby.

So where were the manga (any of them) sold?

I remember seeing the Pokemon Adventures issues in those 3rd-rate bargain hunter kinds of stores. You know, the stores that sell children's color books.

And get this, I haven't seen ANY of the new Pokemon Adventures re-releases in Barnes and Nobles, though I haven't checked Borders yet. And I live in NEW YORK. Viz needs to up the supply.

Pokesupe, along with all pokemon manga, has been moved to the children's section in all Barnes&Noble and Borders bookstores

Try Forbidden Planet in Union Square. I've seen a couple of volumes there. ...Which counts as my two cents on the subject.

I can find them up to no. 7 in Adventures and DP in the kid's manga section at Barnes and Noble and Borders.

But there's a manga subsection in the kids section.

Also, if it's not on the shelf, you can always order them.

True. You never know what you find in Barnes and Nobles sections. I remember finding all the Dragon Ball/Z volumes along with a Dragon Box set in the Non-Fiction section, :look:. Guess I have a reason to check out the kids section now, especially once the Johto saga volumes come out, eh? Let's hope Viz does a good translation instead of copy/pasting the Chuang Yi translation which wasn't all that accurate to the source material at times.

Now THAT is strange. I could understand even putting them in Mythology since it's based on Journey to the West, the story of Son Wukong.

But yeah...also try asking at the info desk. If it's in the store, they can tell you where, even if it's not on the shelf yet, and they can help you order it if it's not in at all.

You can also check online to see if they have things in store. I do it all the time to check which stores have new stuff in stock first, it saves me a lot of driving.

As for the original question, I honestly can't remember where exactly I bought all the old stuff. But I'm betting it was at a local gaming store that had all sorts of pokemon stuff. They went out of business when the mall turned into a ghost town, but they were seriously awesome. They had card tournaments, and showed the episodes up on a huge projector... dang I'm getting all nostalgic now.

I only own a handful of original-run Pokemon manga. I know I bought Pikachu Shocks Back at Chapters in like, 2000, but that's no help to you now, is it? I also have the four issues of The Electric Tale of Pikachu, but my mom bought them for me a long time ago so idk where they came from. I have volume 2 of Magical Pokemon Journey, but I actually just swiped lost it from the public library :X

As for the brand-new Pokemon manga, I can pick them up at most comic shops in my city. There are a few that don't carry them, and a few that only ever seem to have Pokemon Adventures in stock, but they aren't too hard to find. Chapters/Indigo/other chain bookstores always have them in the kids' manga section... no doubt because of the obnoxious "VIZKIDS" logos on the spines :p the Zelda mangas are in that section too, I believe.

Because naturally you'd think you'd find manga in the...

... manga section, :scared:.

The same thing happens with the DVDs of the TV series, too. Some stores put them in the Anime section, some stores put them in the Kids' section, and some stores split them up between the two. In both America and Japan.

As for the original topic, I used to get the Pokemon Adventures, Electric Tale of Pikachu, and Magical Pokemon Journey singles at a local comic shop. I don't recall every buying them anywhere like Wal-Mart or Toys 'R' Us.

Nowadays, whenever I'm in the U.S., Barnes & Noble is my go-to spot.

Oddly enough, the first place I was able to find an English-language copy of DP Adventure wasn't at B&N, though; it was at an airport bookstore.

i've never seen them sold anywhere, but i do remember getting a tiny 1st issue of Electric Tale as a kid. i think it came with one of the old VHS's of episodes of the Anime. tho don't quote me on this, its been forever since i've seen that thing, i miss it :( i dont like comics (or manga) but i remember re-reading that thing forever.

I think I saw a Pokemon Adventures Yellow book at a Barnes and Noble one time. It was in the kids section. Also I'm fairly sure I saw a pokemon manga (I'm not sure which one) in a Waldenbooks once.
