Does anybody ever get the feeling of boredom that is associated with the Eight Badge/Elite 4 format of the handheld games?

Who's looking for a new format for the next generation of Pokemon handheld games?

The answer;
Make an RPG Pokemon game the world has never seen before.

Make it like World of Warcraft; an open Sandbox world with unlimited possibilities.

-No rigidly set storyline

-Unlimited multiplayer opportunities

-Multiple and new Regions to travel in

The world is ready for a new kind of Pokemon. Share your thoughts and ideas here!

Ugh, I just quit WoW. Making Pokemon like WoW would be absolutely awful. That game is boring as hell (yet mildly addicting) as all you really do is just with there and trade attacks with monsters while pressing a button or two.

A Pokemon MMO would very likely end up the same way and would forever tarnish my opinion of the franchise. D:

Well, I don't think an open-sandbox, W.O.W.-like game is the answer to the boredom. Maybe... just adding a new dimension to it. Maybe giving it more of an interactive spin. Like, maybe bringing contests back with the ability to actually coordintate what you want your move to do. Or maybe doing the same with battles. You could easily do that on the DS. And maybe accuracy could regulate how much control you have over the blast. Obviously, I havent thought any of that through, but the you all understand what I mean, right?

I would imagine a pokémon mmorpg to drop the turn-based battles and be more like the anime with some energy/recharge system to hinder spamming of attacks. Add complete control of the pokémon to dodge attacks, run around and jump and stuff.
Right now it's far outside pokémon's comfort zone, so I wouldn't count on it for at least a few generations to come.

I play the games because I know roughly what to expect. If there was no solid, mandatory storyline to follow then I'd get fed up.

If it was like WoW then I just wouldn't buy it. That's the sort of game my Dad's into; not me.

Yes to making a Pokémon MMORPG.

No to making it like WoW.

I actully think a MMO like pokemon mystery dungeon would be a good idea, World of Warcraft? I've never even played it but I can safely say: No.

Yes, a Pokemon MMO would make me cream my pants.
A Pokemon copy of WoW? No thanks. It's better if Nintendo makes it their own way, not Blizzard's way.

Can't you fight other users in WOW (I've never played it so I don't know)? That would be interesting- I'd stand perfectly still for hours at a time, wait for some random person to walk in front me, and suddenly force them into a battle while shouting how much I like shorts.

Seriously though, I think a pokemmorpg has a lot of potential.

I think an official Pokemon MMORPG is a great idea. As we all know, the MMO business is booming in Asia... however, just no to WoW. We need Nintendo's flair on this if it ever happens.

Also, a Mystery Dungeon MMO wouldn't be a bad idea either. The thought of controlling a Pokemon is more appealing to me than controller a trainer, but I'm fine either way. I agree, a lot of potential in a Pokemon MMO, especially done Nintendo's way.

Honestly, I think Pokemon needs to improve on the RP part of the RPG before they go full scale. It is the ONLY game I play where I am so utterly apathetic about the characters I almost wish the plot was optional, since there isn't even much of one. They need to make the world more immersive, give the characters more dimensions. Go hire Kiyoshi Shigematsu to write the story line for Christ's sake! Just make me give a damn about what happens to all these stupid people in the game.

I'd love a Pokemon MMO. It would be mindless, surely, but so are the games--they'd need to change very little for it to work. You create a customized character, you walk around the 4 regions, you battle other players (turn based, please!), and you have ladders for things like breeding, contests, gyms, etc. Gyms could perform the function of player guilds, helping players master a specific type of Pokemon and challenging other gyms (remember, there used to be two gyms in Saffron).

Story and plot? Yes please, but I agree with the person who said that the main games need a bit of that too. There ARE plenty of established characters in the games, and I'm rather fond of Kanto/Johto in particular--just give those characters distinct personalities aside from their basic archetypal caricatures.

But then an overall plot is not too essential, since the very premise is that everyone is just another trainer. There's no larger story than that: live in the Pokemon world and play with lots of people. I'm not ashamed that it'd reel me in like some child that didn't know better. :)

The point is that the games need a new twist (like mentioned above). The Eight Gym & Elite 4 format just ain't cutting it anymore is what i'm trying to say. Sure, don't make it EXACTLY like WoW, but same concept. And this doesn't have to be just for the DS; put it out with the next big Nintendo console and watch the sales skyrocket. You could also make it (optionally)controllable by the DS (like Battle Revolutions. Pokemon has, to my knowledge, never been played in a MMO-like format and it should. What does Nintendo have to lose?

Perhaps not quite an RPG, but rather a game with online capabilities at the core where you control a pokemon, i've always wanted a game like that, outside the box.

Here is a Video Game I own called Godzilla Unleashed.

Its a fighting game based around the Japanese Godzilla series. Pokemon could just aswell fit this criteria with a plethora of different pokemon. I know this has been done in arcade style fighters, but here's it's story mode:

Arcade Games don't have it like that.
Is this not perfect?. Image the world map with the regions, and the missions can be like MD.

A Wii/Xbox/Ps3 Fighting Game based on Pokemon mystery Dungeon.

I think it could work.

This might be kind of cool, but it would need to be done exactly right or it would be shit. And no Pokemon version of WoW please.

Definitely not like WOW. Something new would be nice and playing Pokemon on the computer would be awesome but I don't see that happening and I really don't see anything that large making it onto the Wii.

How about a Pokemon version of Super Smash Brothers

So what? Like a normal fighting game with Pokemon? Digimon already did that 10 or so years ago and I can imagine Pokemon's version wouldn't be much more interesting.
