Whew, I'm not the only one...

So just recently, I picked up on Pokemon again when I found my Sapphire cartridge under my desk, and after looking around the web for more info on the game series, I find this nice forum.

Little intro about me (you can just skip this as a TLDR): I'm more of a computer gamer, but since there haven't been any GOOD, FUN, games in the market lately, I've been playing more DS and doing a buncha nothing - nothing, being practicing kenjutsu, forum surfing, and watching various anime.
I'm a part-time college student at a community college, and I also work part-time, although I'm looking for another place to work more hours and make more money. I thought it would be kinda weird that I still like Pokemon at age 16, even though the fad died out, but I see there are plenty of people around my age here, so whew I'm not alone (or am I...?).

Anyways, I'm planning on getting Diamond (and/or maybe Pearl, dunno), but I'm wondering if I should also get Fire Red/Leaf Green, Pokemon Ranger, or Emerald, as well. My decision will be based on which one has better content that transfers over to D/P. I don't really want to spend too much since I'm also saving for new airsoft equipment and an Alienware computer (really badass cases on those).

With diamond and pearl around the corner your pokemon fix will be filled for quite a little while. I really enjoyed Leaf Green, although it feels limiting monster-wise until you beat the game. Technically DP does this too, but the new places never make it feel obvious.

I have to admit, while Ranger is fun, I really hate that game. The game mechanics are very fun but the cheap AI and horrible story hurt it a lot for me. It's just really a pain to battle the same criminal over and over again because nobody cares to arrest them and they don't learn their lesson...

Airsoft is pretty popular in central Texas - a good Texas airsoft website that I know of is lonestarairsoft.com. There are plenty of OPs here, too, like the annual Reindeer Games. I haven't really gotten into it that deeply yet; I've mostly just been plinking around with my friends on private property (although some of them have gone to big OPs and from what they say, those OPs sound pretty damn awesome).

You need all the third gen GBA games in order to complete the Dex in Diamond, unless you're using Wifi, so get them all. = )

Emerald has cloning, which will make life easier for you.

Ok, so it's recommended that I get Emerald? and what exactly is the cloning thing in Emerald? I've just now heard of this.
