I was curious as to which "Ash ship" in Japan is the most prominet. I think it's safe to say that Pokeshipping is most popular here (not claiming it's better or anything but, it seems that it's most popular these forums prove it. I DO NOT WANT TO START A FLAME WAR) I just wanna know which the fans in Japan favor because that ship probably is most likely to prevail in the end if any ship does.
~Thanks :)

If we take the number of fansites as the determinant of popularity, then Pokeshipping is definitely the most popular in Japan.

Pokeshipping: http://www.pokemon-search.com/search/html/18_01_01.html
Advanceshipping: http://www.pokemon-search.com/search/html/18_01_02.html
Pearlshipping: http://www.pokemon-search.com/search/html/18_01_16.html
But that's also based on 14 years of existence, 9 years of existence, and 5 years of existence. Of course looking at it in numbers, Pokeshipping will always pull out ahead, given their head start in the heads and hearts of fans.

As for what's popular now...it's that like asking what's the most popular in the US. Or globally. Really tough to suss out.

The fansites mean nothing. Back when AG was airing there were about a billion different Contestshipping websites in Japan. Now there are much less.

I think its mainly because with AG being so old now, ships from that era are unknown to younger fans and the older fans who were around for it had lost interest.

You stick to this theory like glue. You ASSUME the target audience and then some are incapable of going backwards, finding older episodes through their own means, and watching those episodes. That's a load of poppycock and you clearly like to pretend the internet does not exist for fans to look stuff up and make up their own minds, because newer, younger shippers keep cropping up every day, for 'ships that they are not current at all.

You point is not only invalid and ignorant, it also has nothing to do with this topic. Good day; we're moving on.

It's about the same as everywhere else - Pokeshipping will always be popular, and Palletshipping will always have a following as well because they're old. Then the most recent one (Ash/Iris now) will have a surge in popularity until the next girl comes along. After that, they tend to go to a stable level of support (Advance and Pearl) that's not as much as Pokeshipping but still has a good amount of followers.
