I just found out about this game while cruising Wikipedia. I am planning on buying Melee soon, by the way. Played it at a friend's house and loved it. Since the advent of so many great series, plus a new generation of Pokemon, it seems a little dated, though. That's why I was so excited to find out about this game, which would be the third in the series. Maybe if I get enough replies, I'll put in a poll.

Lucario; he's fighting/steel, after all.

I was suprised to find Wario hasn't been in SSB yet. He deserves to be playable, as does Metaknight and King Dedede. And Deoxys. And Captain Olimar. Oh, and Pikmin should be usable weapons.

I'd like to see a Pokémon trainer in it, most likely Ash or the playable character of D/P. Basic attacks are throwing Pokéballs, and Pokémon can be used for certain moves as well. Like how Princess Peach uses Toad to defend in Melee.

Get ready! This is a long list (plus all the characters from SSBM):

Wario (Super Mario Land 2)
C. Syrup (Wario Land 2)
DK Jr. (DK2)
Krusha (DKC)
Dixie Kong (DKC2)
Agahnim (Zelda 3)
Vaati (Zelda: The Minish Cap)
Ridley (Metroid)
King Dedede (Kirby's Dream Land)
Meta Knight (Kirby's Adventure)
Adeleine (Kirby 64)
Wolf (Star Fox 64)
Krystal (Star Fox Adventures)
Gardevoir (Pokémon)
Lucario (Pokémon)
Samurai Goroh (F-Zero)
Black Shadow (F-Zero X)
Paula (EarthBound)
Flint (Mother 3)
Lyn (Fire Emblem)
Pit (Kid Icarus)
Eggplant Wizard (Kid Icarus)
Mike Jones (StarTropics)
Little Mac (Punch-Out)
King Hippo (Punch-Out)
Balloon Fighter (Balloon Fight)
Urban Champion (Urban Champion)
Mach Rider (Mach Rider)
Star Man (Pro Wrestling)
The Amazon (Pro Wrestling)
Donbe (Shin Oni Ga Shima)
Hikari (Shin Oni Ga Shima)
Ayumi (Famicom Tantei Club)
Takamaru (Nazo no Mursamaejou)
Lip (Panel De Pon)
Issac (Golden Sun)
Sami (Advance Wars)
C. Olimar (Pikmin)
Marina (Mischied Makers)

Most of them won't make it into the game, but one can dream... isn't it?

I wouldn't be surprised if the main character of XD is included as a trainer. I don't know how many physical attacks he could have, though...

Flagship my ass. Ness wasn't flagship, nor was Mr Game and Watch or the Iceclimbers. Samas is now, but she wasn't flagship at the point the original SSB came out.

Anyway...considering that Nintendo has strong relationships with both Sega and Namco, I'd like to see a few of their characters making guest apperances in SSBR, as well as more of Nintendo's more memorable minor characters (with the look to perhaps resurrect the franchises of a few of them should their characters be popular).

You don't know much about Nintendo's history, do you?

Earthbound has only had two games, but it was a MASSIVE success in Japan. Mother 3 is in Japan's most wanted DESPITE NOT BEING ANNOUNCED.

Mr Game and Watch was DEFINITELY a Nintendo flagship character back in the NES days. The Game and Watch was the precursor to the Game Boy.

And the Ice Climbers... while they might not be as big as some of the others, they're still pretty important and provide a unique gimmick to SSBM, so... :P

My dream SSB character?
Though I know it will *never* happen....
Domino.

Seriously, even if she *was* a one-shot character, she's practically *made* for it. I'm guessing she'd play a bit like Link, only with her staff instead of a sword and exploding tulips instead of bombs, as well as decent speed. And in story mode, they'd have an excuse to actually add a Pokemon-themed solo level- Team Rocket Headquarters, anyone?
And imagine the possibilities if Mewtwo was kept... you could basically rewrite the ending of MR.

Sigh... the chances of that are about as good as Nintendo joining forces with Sony and making the PlayCube Revolution, or whatever they'd call it. But a girl can dream, right?

EDIT: And what the hell? Ash as a playable character? I'm guessing he's got even worse a chance than my precious lil' Black Tulip.. what would his attacks be? Super Whine?

I second this. Even if only for the amusement of seeing how they pull off characters like Billy Hatcher and The Prince from Katamari.

Sonic would be an awesome character to play as, though. And Mr. Driller would probably have some killer attacks with that drill of his, probably including something like the Dig attack from Pokémon where he burrows underground and attacks from below.

... Kevin Keene, hee. That'd be great. :E

If we're going for Namco characters now, then I'd have to say Klonoa. I can imagine he'd be like a tweaked Yoshi-ish character, with his Wind Ring being treated like Yoshi's... uhm, eating ability. Or something. His big floppy ears would give him a dumbed-down variation of Peach's hover, and his taunt would be the just cutest thing ever. Wafuu! <3

Back to Nintendo, though. I wouldn't mind a Pokemon trainer either ("go, little XD-kid! kick 'em in the shins! <3"), but, it's true that there's no one trainer qualified to represent *all* of them save for Red. Which is boring. :x

I'd also like to say "another FE character", but... let's face it, if they keep both Links+Marth+Roy, that's already way too many damned swordies. The only (post-Roy) FE main characters left, then, are Hector and Ephraim - and neither of them seem like a logical choice (though Hector would be *awesome*).

Aa. 'side from that, I'll just say Wario and Cranky Kong. :<

My dream character was Mewtwo and he made it in SSB:M. A four-legged Pokemon like Umbreon would be a hoot.

Heh... I still remember when Electronic Gaming Monthly circulated that huge hoax about unlocking Sonic and Tails.

No, we just have a different definition of the word "flagship". As far as I'm concerned, a flagship character would be a popular character that is still supported by the company, and used to make games in which they star. The Mother series is and was very popular, but the series was no longer supported. Likewise Game & Watch and Ice Climbers.

Either way, it would rock to work in characters from spinoff anime. But since I'm positive that Pokemon is the only game featured in SSB that actually has a *decent* anime, that might be hard.

But I stand by what I said about Domino. And since Mewtwo's attacks in SSBM were basically taken from the anime anyway...

To be honest I thinkt hey should take out the pokemon save for Pikachu. The game is generally about Nintendos history as well as being a kick-ass fighting bonanza. I'd hate for any characters that aren't home-grown nintendo to appear in it really, As much as I like Sonic the Hedgehog, I can't see him in a game that relies upon Nintendos history (Unless he plays a villain or something, but then Smash Brothers would have a proper story mode, which would be ew). Generally, I think the current cast is fine, maybe Black Shadow from F-Zero might be cool, or the animal crossing dude (XD, you can imagine it, fishing rod attacks and Bug Nets) I also think they should place in a second version of Fox morelike the one from Starfox Adventures, alas it is a RAre design and thus probably won't be included. Krystal from Starfox might be a nice addition too.

Aside from that though, I think it's fine as it is, having a few of the more minor game character would be fun though, someone mentioned King Dedede from Kirby, he'd be an awesome addition, but no more Pokemon imo, Pikachu was enough, Jiggly is pants... and the rest are just shadows of other characters imo.
