So today, The Pokémon Company and Bandai Namco revealed Pokkén Tournament, an arcade fighting game featuring Pokémon. In the initial teaser last year, we saw Lucario and Blaziken. This time, we saw Lucario and Machamp. The official Twitter is also asking for character suggestions, so what characters would you like to see? (Note: Harada has already ruled out Tekken characters appearing).

Personally, my Top 5 would be:
- Primeape
- Hitmonlee
- Heracross
- Keldeo
- Mega Mewtwo X

I'd really like to see how they could adapt Heracross and Keldeo's physiologies and animal influences into a fighting game.

EDIT: It's not restricted to fighting-types. Go nuts.

Pikachu Libre
Considering all (fully evolved) fighting pokémon add up to only 30, I'd think a good part of them could be in.

Hawlucha could have a very interesting playstile, considering its bird theme and size lends for an aerial game of agile combos, but its luchador theme gives it mostly grabs. You very rarely see a fighter like that in fighing games.

Even if not entirely a Fighting type, Meloetta can turn into one. So if there is a "Fighting types only" rule there, I'd like to see still her in.
Since at the very least she would get some dance-based combat (and at best both Aria and Pirouette forms)
There's also Lopunny, who mega-evolves into Normal/Fighting. I'd like to see any of the two, but I'd preffer Meloetta

With that said, my top five would be:
- Hawlucha
- Meloetta
- Mienshao
- Heracross
- Breloom

I agree that one of the deers would be very interesting to see adapt into a fighter, too. Heracross though is easy to picture if you've seen the beetle from Kirby. (I still would like it though)

As for Mewtwo... It very much is perfect for the final boss.

Re: What characters would you like to see in Pokkén?

I'll assume it's going to just be Fighting-types and split my lists into Fighting and non-Fighting.

Fighting types:
Hawlucha
Pangoro
Chesnaught
Scrafty
Mienshao
Toxicroak
Medicham + Mega
Heracross + Mega
Breloom
Hariyama
Emboar
and
Lopunny + Mega

Non-Fighting:
Mawile (Mega)
WIGGLYTUFF (damn Wiggly would be so perfect slapping them about or shouting at them)
Samurott
Greninja
Darmanitan
Bisharp
Whimsicott (lol i just want it bcoz)
Marowak (yet another one that would be perfect. Has up close hits with the bone and then can use it for ranged attacks too)
Jynx
Diggersby
Sableye
Weavile
Zoroark
Dragonite
Druddigon
Raichu
Mr. Mime (would be funny)
AZUMARILL
LEDIAN
Sceptile
Kangaskhan
Snorlax
Ambipom
Roserade
Reuniclus
Barbaracle

99% certain that the Hitmons and Hawlucha will be in. But we'll see. Also it'll be interesting to see what the Pokemon without Megas will get to make up their strength against Pokemon with Megas. Please no Pikachu or Charizard. Please. Please.

Re: What characters would you like to see in Pokkén?

How about Beartic?

Re: What characters would you like to see in Pokkén?

Basically, Pokemon I like that can work in a fighting game. Sableye, Diancie, Diggersby, Swalot, Cacturne, Golurk, etc...I think Stunfisk could actually work, it's not bipedal or anyfin, but that would be a funny aspect for a joke character.

For fighting-types, well, I barely like any of them. I sorta like Hariyama, Gallade, and Primeape.

Re: What characters would you like to see in Pokkén?

I'd like to see Mienshao, Pangoro, Heracross, and Greninja.

Re: What characters would you like to see in Pokkén?

While I don't necessarily want them in a lot, here are some Pokemon I thought would be very interesting in a fighting game

Carnivine - It could enwrap opponents in its tentacles, while also having biting and leaf slashing attacks.
Lickitung/Lickilicky - tongue attacks are cool
Seviper - it's not bipedal, but it has three methods of physical attack: its tail blade, its fangs, and wrapping itself around opponents. The tail blade and constriction attacks are quite interesting.
Kecleon - camouflage. Also, tongue attacks are cool.
Gourgeist - it attacks with its hair. Well, it's not technically hair, but it might as well be. I'd also love seeing its sadism for myself, which the games don't really show outside of Pokedex entries. This is one I want in a particular amount.
Heatmor - you thought regular tongue attacks were cool? Trying flaming tongue attacks.
Stunfisk - I mentioned this one earlier. It could be a really gr8 joke character. It would be really awkward to play as, but that would be part of the joke, and I can actually see it working. It could move around by flopping, and maybe even flapping its fins to remain airborne (it's demonstrated this amusing ability before). Jump up in the air and slap the opponent with its tail, electrocute the opponent at close range, use counter attacks, etc. I see it it working better than any other fish Pokemon. It would be hard to hit with a lot of attacks, but it's not like there would be a huge shortage of attacks that could hit the ground/near the ground.
Spinda - could also make for an amusing joke character. It would totter all over the place when moving and attacking. It would be hard to control it accurately, but it would be hard to hit it, too.
Probopass it lacks limbs, but attacking with its mini noses could be interesting.

Re: What characters would you like to see in Pokkén?

I'm gonna assume that they'll stick strictly to Fighting types. I also think we'll end up seeing bipedal Pokémon for the most part so none of the Sacred Swordsmen will show up. And I doubt NFE Pokémon will even be included, so... And hopefully, they expand fighting to include rock and ground types (which are labeled Fighting type in the TCG).

To that end, I could see the following bipedal, Rock/Ground/Fighting, fully evolved Pokémon possibly getting added:

Primeape
Machamp
Hitmonlee
Hitmonchan
Hitmontop
Hariyama
Medicham (Mega)
Toxicroak
Conkeldurr
Throh
Sawk
Hawlucha
Infernape
Lucario
Mienshao
Pangoro
Lucario (Mega)
Poliwrath
Mewtwo (Mega X)
Heracross (Mega)
Blaziken (Mega)
Breloom
Lopunny (Mega)
Gallade
Emboar
Scrafty
Meloetta (Aria)
Chesnaught
Sudowoodo
Rampardos
Gigalith
Golem
Kabutops
Tyranitar (Mega)
Armaldo
Barbaracle
Tyrantrum
Diancie (Mega)
Rhyperior
Aggron (Mega)
Sandslash
Marowak
Groudon (Primal)
Excadrill
Krookodile
Golurk
Nidoking
Nidoqueen
Quagsire
Swampert (Mega)
Garchomp (Mega)
Seismitoad
Diggersby

Which Tweet says they're taking suggestions for the game? I'd love to Tweet them this list!

Re: What characters would you like to see in Pokkén?

Hawlucha, Mega Lopunny, and Gallade. Meloetta if possible.

I'm pretty sure all the fighting types are going to be in this game. Dunno about the Musketeers and Keldeo though.

Re: What characters would you like to see in Pokkén?

Okay, not a fighting type, but I just heard someone suggest Farfetch'd referencing Yoshimitsu.

Not necessarialy a joke character, but still funny. I could see Farfetch'd doing the unusual crazy fighting Yoshimitsu does.

I guess Marowak could work, too. It has the skull face, and wearing skulls down their line kind of fits how Yoshimitsu is passed down to a successor.

Re: What characters would you like to see in Pokkén?

I think some of these Pokémon would be cool

-Meloetta (Pirouette Forme mainly, but the Aria Forme would be interesting, too)
-Hawlucha
-Lopunny
-Garchomp
-Mewtwo (Mega X, since Mega Y already got some promotion)
-Gengar (I think it could have weak close-up attacks but strong ranged attacks to reflect its low Attack but high Sp. Attack)
-Weavile
-Sceptile
-Aegislash
-Deoxys, if it could change Formes at will, moreso for aesthetic purposes (so it could change to Defense Forme when it's blocking, Speed Forme when it's dashing, and Attack Forme when it does a strong attack, or something)
-Aggron
-Vespiquen ('cause why not? And she could use Combee-based ranged attacks!)
-Medicham
-Poliwrath
-the Regi trio (this could make for a really cool boss stage)
-Drapion (can you imagine if it did some accordion-arm range attacks?!)
-Sawk... and Throh, I guess
-Flabébé, for the lulz

Re: What characters would you like to see in Pokkén?

Only for Fighting type?? Maybe we can add certain Pokemon that are not Fighting type but can be considered its fighting style can be so much good.

Here's my list.

1. Haxorus- This Pokemon can be bad a Pokemon inside the arena considering his bladed flat fang and a long tail.
2. Garchomp- Another Dragon-type Pokemon. With special skill to Mega Evolve and turn its hand into a pure bladed claw.
3. Khangaskan- C'mon! Don't forget this child-loving Pokemon together with his little fighting baby.
4. Gengar- I remember Gengar in the first episode of Pokemon anime, fighting a Nidoking(if I'm not mistaken) and he put it into sleep and forcing its trainer to switch out and replaced by Onix. Now we all know how Gengar fight in the arena with his ability to put everyone into sleep and make all physical attack just slip out into his body.
5. The Tyrogue family(Hitmonchan, Hitmonlee and Hitmontop)- of course, please don't ever forget these family branch. I badly want this four to be in that game.
6. Hariyama- A sumo wrestler!! Yeah! I can see that Machamp can throw a barrage of punches. Now wait for Hariyama to throw a barrage of slaps!!! Love it!
7. Hawlucha- Imba! Though I know everyone wanted this guy to be in that game, and as much as I want too(coz I know this guy will be everyone's favorite). But in my mind, Hawlucha can take Lucario and Machamp at the same time. Haha! It can be a very strong choice.
8. Toxicroak- That poisonous claw on his hand can be a good weapon because if the opponent is too bulky, it can just spit a poison on it and punch right into the opponent's body.
9. Roserade- I'm not sure if that flowery hand can be painful but I'm sure Roserade can give pain by inflicting poisonous jab on its opponent.
10. Bisharp- Now this is my favorite. I can now imagine how Bisharp move and give a flying blade to the opponent and dashed through it to give its final blow. Boom!!
11. Accelgor- This one-legged ninja bug is a very interesting character if ever it will be part of the game. I wonder what move it will give. Interesting..
12. Greninja- Water Shuriken. I want to see that in live action. That's all!
13. Gallade- I want to see this Power Ranger-like Pokemon in that game and put it's Steadfast ability and Psycho Cut in live action.
14. The Legendary Golem(Regice, Registeel and Regirock)- A special Pokemon that can unlock once you reach a certain level or beat a certain Boss(maybe Mega Mewtwo X).
15. Genesect- The last but not the least, I want to see this Pokemon fight in live action and use its Techno-Blast move.

Re: What characters would you like to see in Pokkén?

Definitely Hawlucha

Re: What characters would you like to see in Pokkén?

My top 5

Fighting Types:
1. Gallade: Relatively fast but frail, attacks swiftly with his arm blades, can teleport to get some or close distance and attacks with range with psycho cut.
2. Breloom: Slow and frail but focuses on counter attacks using moves like spore, stun spore and substitute to block and stun opponents to use strong but slow moves like focus punch
3. Scrafty: Add some funk to this game. It would be slow but bulky focusing on kicks either high (high jump kick) or low (low kick, low sweep etc) hitting ones fitting for its dark type
4. Conkeldurr: It would be big, slow but with devastating power and reach thanks to those concrete pillars and huge fists.
5. Hawlucha: Probably gonna be fast and frail but can attack from odd angles thanks to its flying type.

Non Fighting types

1. Scizor: We've seen it go up against Heracross in the anime and put on a good show. It's fairly humanoid and has lots of different melee attacks like bullet punch.
2. Greninja: Hey every fighting game needs a ninja right? It's got what it takes to be in a fighting game for sure with Super Smash Bros being proof.
3. Sceptile: Humanoid enough, lots of hand to hand moves with its leaf blades and with a new mega evolution in tow.
4. Dragonite: It could work with its large movepool. Some punching moves, tail attacks, charging attacks and maybe an epic body slam with its large girth
5. Gardevoir: Okay this may be pushing things but weirder things have been seen in fighting games (Gon, Phoenix Wright, Voldo). She could fight like Zelda does in smash using pulses of energy as melee attacks. Would be cool to see with a mega evolution and Gardevoir is pretty popular.

Re: What characters would you like to see in Pokkén?

I can see Charizard being shoehorned in somehow. Just call it a hunch.

As for who I would like to see, I'd love it if Electabuzz made it in. I know it is very unlikely, but hey, I can dream! Emboar and Samurott would also be pretty cool to see in a game like this. Ohh, and Pangoro! He'd be perfect and I'd love to see him in.

Re: What characters would you like to see in Pokkén?

Hmmm... As for me, I'd say my top pick would be Gardevoir (IT HAS BEEN DONE BEFORE BTW) because I'm not good at fighters with combos and just spam projectiles, but other then that, I have a LOT of 'mons that I think could fit in a fighter, so here's a list... A very long list, so I'll split it up by region and my top picks:

My top picks:
Gardevoir (obviously)

Moveset idea: there is already a fan-made fighter with Gardevoir, just use that as a blueprint... And a Mega if you want to, I guess...

The entire Snivy line

Moveset ideas: could fight with a Leaf Blade for regular attacks and/or Moves, maybe work in something like Wrap for a grabing move.

Snorlax because Mega Punch spam

Moveset ideas: Again, there is already a fighter with it as a character, use that as a blueprint (but please Arceus don't make it an overpowered peice of s***.) Also, Rest is a nessesity.

Breloom

Moveset ideas: Same as Gardevoir and Snorlax.

Metagross

Meteor Mash is a must. Also, a damaging jump could be this 'mon's gimick because it's so heavy, just saying.

Any and all of the Swords of Justice

Moveset ideas: Sacred/Secret Sword and Double Kick are nessesities, other than that, it depends on what one(s) they decide to use.

Arceus as maybe a final boss/overpowered peice of s*** unlockable character

Moveset ideas: Judgement. That's all it needs.

Siesmitoed/Swampert, maybe giving the latter a Mega

Various Punching attacks, maybe Earthquake or Muddy Water for a little veriety.

Ditto cuz Wynaut?

Do I really have to say it?

The Eeveelutions would be an interesting choice

Again, depends on which one we're talking about here... Or maybe they could include them all and give them Batton Pass, who knows.

Ninetales could also be an interesting choice

Regular attacks with the tails, obviously, but for moves I'd say Flamethrower, Energy Ball and Drought as a Final Smash Special Move/Finisher.

Roserade

Moveset ideas: Regular attacks could use the thorns from it's roses, bus as for moves, Poison Jab is a nessesity.

Rapidash

Flare Blitz and Double Kick=nessisary here, not much else I have to say.

Mega Lopunny (yet another fan-made fighter 'mon (except without the Mega part))

Moveset ideas: Fan-made fighter as blueprint, only with a Mega.

That same fan-made fighting game actually has Swallot as a character (no, it really is a playable character, I kid you not) ...That could be VERY interesting...

Moveset ideas: same as Gardevoir, Snorelax and Breloom: use that fan-game as a blueprint.

Kanto:
Charizard because M. 'Zard X

Gengar could be a good pick (another from that fan-made fighter) ...Maybe they could give it a Mega..?

Mega Kanguskhan FTW

Kabutops

Johto:
Ferraligater/Typhlosion

Tyranitar

Scizor

Any of the Hitmons

Hoenn:
Gardevoir

Sceptile/Grovile

Blaziken/Combusken, more fan-made fighter 'mons, the former of which needs a Mega.

Slacking

Mega Flygon

Armaldo

Mega Milotic

Mega Banette

Dusclops/Dusknoir

Mega Absol

Any of the Regies

Deoxys, maybe as a boss of some sort..?

Sinnoh
Infernape/Empoleon

Garchomp

Hmmm... Krickitune could actually make it in... Don't know why they would, but it could happen...

Luxray

Ambipom

Toxicroak

Weavile

Electivire

Gallade

Froslass

Darkrai maybe...

Unova:
Victini

The entire Snivy line

Zebstrika

Darmanitan

Excadrill

Conkeldurr

Throh/Sawk

Leavany (again, don't know why they would, but it could happen...)

Lilligant

Krookodile/Krokorock

Darmanitan

Carracosta

Zoroark

Reunicluis

Ferrothorn

Eelektross

Chandelure

Accelgor

Golurk

Bisharp

Hydreigon

Any of the Kami trio

Meloetta

Kalos:
Any and all of the three starters

Diggersby tho

Gogoat

Pangoro

Doublade/Aegislash FTW

Malamar... Maybe

Pant... Pant... I think... Pant... There's more, but... Pant... Those are the ones... Pant... I'd like to see... Pant... Most.

Re: What characters would you like to see in Pokkén?

A lot of people suggesting ghost types - really, truly cannot see it happening in a punching and kicking game, even with the elemental punches included. That means no Sableye, no Gengar.

That said, I do think they'll want to include as many different types as they can, so I'd say the likes of Poliwrath, Toxicroak, Hawlucha, Breloom and Medicham are shoo-ins. As Mega Lucario's in the trailer, I'd think they'll want a good selection of those, too, so that's another vote for Medicham, plus Lopunny, Heracross, etc.

As far as off-beat suggestions go, I'd like Electivire. Not a fighting type, but I don't believe there's an electric fighter, yet, so it's a nice addition. Actually, fighting really hasn't been paired with much, has it?
