In Pokémon Sun&Moon there's multiple ways to EV train your Pokémon:
  • Through SOS battle chaining, in which allies give double the amount of EVs than normal.
  • Through Isle Evelup in Poké Pelago, which takes a long while but can be done while the game is shut down.
  • Through Bouncy Houses in Festival Plaza, which cost FC and can only be used once a day, but can train a stat to 252 EVs immediately (if you have the high ranked ones).
So which of these methods do you like the most?

Personally, I love Isle Evelup. Yes it takes a long while, but I have to sleep/work anyway and when I come home the training is done and I can spend my time otherwise. And not having to get Pokérus and the Power Items is a huge plus too, I was not looking forward having to spend hours in the Battle Royal/Battle Tree for those.

And not a fan of the Festival Plaza method at all. It sounds amazing in theory, but both getting the high ranked Bouncy Houses in the first place, and doing missions over and over again to get the high amount of FC needed is a drag imo.

Definitely Poke Pelago-it's easy, simple, gives all the EVs I want and nothing I don't. (Heck, I sound like a fast food commercial) It also tells me exactly how many EVs I'm getting-I dunno what Festival Plaza does, but SOS training definitely doesn't tell.

I haven't EV trained yet. But from what I heard it is:

Pelago: Efficient, but long
SOS Chaining: Quick, but patience
Plaza: Quick, but tedious

I've started EV training in Pelago. I don't EV train a lot so it is just fine for me.
I might do SOS chaining at some point, while I doubt I'll try Festival Plaza as it will take a long while to reach that rank.

The Pelago & Isle Evelup is where I do the training. I prefer control & precision over speed at anytime.

Also, Festival plaza isn't really an option for me, & SOS chaining can get boring pretty fast, not to mention that you might wind up with some undesirable 'mons showing up, not to mention that some of them love spamming stat-reduction or status moves.

With the Pelago, I can get this done while I'm either asleep or doing/playing something else.

  • SOS chaining gives double the amount of EVs that the pokemon would give to you.
  • That wracks up with Pokérus.
  • It also wracks up with the EV-enhacing items, which now gives 8 points everytime.
  • This means that you can get up to 40 EVs from ONE WILD POKEMON.
Basically, I love this SOS chaining for EVs.
Poke Pelago is also useful, though I only use for Pokemon that I'm not gonna be using right now. I trained my Legendaries this way. Except my Calm Beast Ball Tapu Fini, I couldn't simply let it stay there, I had to personally train it.
And Festival Plaza, to me, is only useful for Rare Kitchen 5*, to level up a Pokemon level 89 or less for nine levels. That costs enough as it is.

Personally, I only really dislike the Festival Plaza methods because they eat up FC that I could be using on much more important stuff (like Rare Kitchens or Friendship Parlors). As for why I like the other two, well:
  • Isle Evelup has:
    • Precision. So long as you know your calculations (and preferably if you've levelled up the isle to Level 3), you can train in a specific stat without any risk of a screw-up if you need to go for a specific spread
    • No effort required once the process begins - just make a checklist with the above calculations, tick them off as each one is completed.
    • If you're training several mons at once with the same spreads, you can train them in bulk. Very handy if you're training minmaxed sweepers!
    • The only disadvantage, really, is that the process takes a long time.
  • SOS Chaining has:
    • Speed. So long as you have the required power item and a single-target move, you can gain so many EVs at once from a single KO even without Pokérus. They're not that expensive, either, at least compared to other stuff you could purchase with BP, and are accessible as early as Akala Island since they're located in the Battle Royal Arena - though you probably won't be winning the big points until you've EV trained a team of three anyway
    • Absolutely excellent for mons who require a maxed 252 stat - a mere 14-15 KOs would be enough, and even then, it can be sped up even further if you have enough money to purchase vitamins
    • For Sun players, at least, it's really convenient to bring mons down by using Kartana with False Swipe
Both of the above can be augmented with vitamins to speed up the process.

The Pelago is a saving grace. I can leave and train multiple pokemon at a time - up to three different EVs at the same time, 18 pokemon in total. This makes things immensely easier because I don't have to fly around for laggy SOS battles. I can also use that time to hatch eggs or accumulate BPs while letting my pokemon gain experience at the Isle. I don't mind the Pelago taking a long time.

I'm one of the few who prefer the SOS method. Probably because I got lucky and one of my Pokemon caught a Pokerus virus so it makes EV training much faster. XD

Poke Pelago is also great but it takes forever. I guess it's a decent trade off with how many Pokemon you can leave there and get so many EV-trained all at once.

I'm lazy, so I leave some Poke beans and train them at Isle Evelup - my Ninetales' ev stats maxed out within a week
