Excluding some of the releases that seemed pointless in the end, (like Primeape), which of Ash's captures seemed the least justified of all his currently owned Pokemon?

I'm going to have to say Totodile. At this point, there is nothing Totodile can do that Squirtle, Corphish and Buizel haven't done much better.

On top of that, Totodile never won a single Gym battle. While it had some wins in the Whirl Cup and Harrisson's Sneasel, it could still be considered Ash's weakest Pokemon of the series, almost tied with Noctowl. I always said Misty would have been better off with Totodile, because with Ash it became practically pointless as the series progressed.

So this thread exist only to get us to the conclusion Johto is hell because it gave us Ash's "weakest" Pokémon
Ok, we know that and understood you in the last 235623523 times you said this
There's absolutely no reason for this thread to exist other than to get to this conclusion AGAIN and to cause people to argue about something which isn't really important anyway
I'll never understand how people enjoy the show if all they do is constantly repeat again and again what they hate about the show and almost never seem to actually like it

I'm gonna say Totodile, its done the least of any of Ash's Pokemon but I'll say it could possibly be redeemed eventually, therefore making it just as strong as Corphish and Squritle and we can have endless debates about favorites and strongest forever.

Humans exist for few reasons: reproduction, eating, being eaten, researching, and complaining. Also, most intelligent species prefer repeated actions to non-repeated actions, as they are used to it, such as parrots ans humans. And they always want to be entertained as well, which later combines with human's complaining and the syndrome that has been showed in Chicken Run and Madagascar: "Everybody thinks the grasses on the other side is greener."

they always want to be entertained

So why not watch a show you actually enjoy rather than watch simply to complain again and again about the same thing? doesn't sound so entertaining to me...

Anyway, there's not "strong" or "weak" anyway - sure not strong/weak-EST
The writers already proved they like to play with a Pokémon's strength as much as they can and that they won't hesitate to do that especially if it's convenient at the moment
Perfect example is Torkoal - which barely did much more than Totodile but still all of a sudden came back from Oak as a powerful Pokémon that could almost defeat a legendary (Registeel)

Muk, a pokemon which i actually like. I mean it did win one league match for Ash, sure, but was not used much otherwise.

As for Todo, it can come back to Ash possibly after the sinnoh league ends, remember Phanphy? It wasnt strong in Johto, but when it did come back it becamse very strong. The same could happen for Tododile.

Complaining is enjoyable for human species, and is a common act done by teenagers.

Writers can do whatever they want because they can. Writers create their own world and logic, which can be only altered by themselves or other writers.

You're actually complaining about people's complaints you know? I mean, leave them alone. They need to feel special, by complaining about something that has no logic at all.

If you enjoy the show so much, then go watch it instead of complain about other people complaining about it.

I agree with Totodile, but would also add Noctowl. With the exception of a single battle, everything Noctowl accomplished was more for reacting to problems than it was for actively completing his goal. The same applied somewhat to Pidgeot and to a lesser extent Staraptor, but I think it was most severe with Noctowl.

I don't think you can put Noctowl in that category cause until Hoenn, Ash's main bird wasn't used that much in battles... Johto was different also because there isn't really one gym where it would have made sense to use totodile plus, Ash kept bringing is kanto pokemon back and switching... That being said Totodile was used in the Whitney match...

3rd : Totodile, because even though it was underused in gyms, there wasn't really one gym where Totodile would have been super helpful (except against Morty as it knew bite.) But, his performance in the Whirl Cup and the Silver Conference to me put him above two pokemon...

2nd : Butterfree. Granted it didn't stay long enough on ash's team to really make an impact but really, it wasn't really strong and never performed well in Gym battles... but it still had more wins than...

1rst : Gliscor... because... ONE WIN... granted a gym battle, but really in that ep Chimchar defeated bronzor and Steelix and weakened bastiodon... Gliscor won in the end with the move it learned like the week before in a clear attempt by the writers to give this loser a win it didn't deserve. Do you need another reason ??? It tied with barry's roserade despite knowing steel wing, x-scissor and fire fang... Gliscor's uselessness and weakness knows no bounds and therefore I give it the crown of Ash's most useless pokemon...

I disargee with Piplup and with Scott aswell because both of you are wrong about Totodile being weak, it was shown to be really good in Pokemon battles and it also help Ash beat a Kingdra in the Whirl Cup battles aswell as other Pokemon that were there, he did have a really good battle against that Charizard James had under his control and also help to beat Harrison's Sneasel at the Johto League, which proves Totodile its just as strong as Squirtle and Corphish who its no stronger then Buizel put together.

Ash's Johto team was never his weakest Pokemon, they were shown to be really strong in the Johto series and Totodile don't need to be redeem because he was a much better Pokemon with Ash then he would have been with Misty who never did anything in the show at all, the reason why Phanpy came back was because he was born in Johto really late, atleast Totodile did a lot better in battles then Torkoal ever did.

I'll have to say krabby. He caught, and it was only used once or twice in the pokemon league, if I remember correctly. And it evolved and maybe was used once more. I don’t really remember Ash using it it battle, that’s why I think it's the least contributer.

Primape. Ash catches the thing mostly out of spite, doesn't use it in the one gym battle it had a chance to be in, then releases it. In the span of four episodes. Beat that, Totodile, Krabby, and Noctowl, which all got to fight in important battles(even if Totodile never actually won an important fight, it still got more battling in than Primape did!).

The only thing that comes close to that, Jup, is Beedrill, and that's an iffy contender. Some say it wasn't official since it was for the Bug Contest while others say his capture with an actual Poke Ball means it was his (giving him authority to give it away like he did).

Well, Squritle didn't win any Gym battle until the Orange Islands and even then it was only one battle, or two if you want to count the help it made with the second Gym battle. Just because a Pokemon doesn't win a lot of Gym battles doesn't necessarily mean that they're a weak Pokemon. I agree that Totodile doesn't have an impressive battle history, especially compared to most of Ash's other Water types, but it could easily return and show how much it has improved. If Phanpy could come back during the Kanto Battle Frontier, with some new moves like Hidden Power and evolved when it didn't really do anything important in Johto, I don't see why Totodile couldn't come back stronger. Ash's Pokemon aren't just sleeping and eating all day.

As for Misty getting Totodile, I'm not sure how much better that would have been. Misty barely had any screentime during Johto and the main Pokemon that she used were Poliwhirl/Politoad, Staryu and Corsola and they didn't show up that often. While Ash didn't use it for memorable battles, at least it had more screentime than most of Misty's Pokemon.

I would also say that Primeape didn't really help him with his goal. At least with Butterfree, it provided Ash with some character development as a starting Pokemon coming to terms with releasing his first Pokemon. Totodile and Noctowl also helped him with one badge each, so they weren't pointless captures.

I don't argee with you Hidden Mew and the same goes for Scott aswell, because Totodile had a very good impressive battle history and he its just as strong as the rest of Ash's other water type Pokemon.

You both are also forgetting the fact that Squritle didn't really battle in alot of the Kanto gyms back in Kanto does that mean his weak no it doesn't and its the same thing with Totodile aswell, there were not many gyms in Johto for Totodile to be use in anyways and Ash needed Totodile since it did had some memorable battles like the Whirl Cups, the Johto League and that Battle it had agianst that Charizard at the Battle Park, Misty did not need Totodile since it would have been weak as hell if she had gotten it and she already have a enough of water type Pokemon on hand already she didn't need Totodile at all.

The reason why Phanpy came back for the Kanto Battle Frontier and evolve was because it was a new born Pokemon that came late into Johto and for the last damn time Totodile was a strong Pokemon back in Johto it might have gotten even stronger since then and Butterfree never really did anything that was important on the Kanto team or help Ash that much in battles.

Excuse me, but that's exactly what Hidden Mew just said:
Hidden Mew said:

As far as Totodile and his accomplishments in Johto, it's the truth he is sorely lacking when compared to Bayleef and Cyndaquil. So rather than argue you should be agreeing. Yeesh. Also, your run-on sentences are really starting to bug me.
