I feel that most of the companions exits were handled well but me it would have be misty's it was the first companion exit and it felt like it had the biggest Impact on ash as well as viewers seeing it for the first time

I'd go with Misty's departure as well. Even though I don't care much for her character, the departure did have some emotional weight to it. The whole group splitting apart like that was new at the time and it felt like a big deal. Sure, Brock came back just after a few episodes and he was already replaced before, but it did feel sad to see them go and Ash was clearly depressed over seeing his friends go off on their own like that too. I'd say that the split with the DP trio is a close second since it also had a good amount of emotional impact for the characters.

Misty :cry::cry::cry:

Later departures were made from the viewers' point of view, but her departure was made from her point of view. In the first half of the episode we get to know why Misty doesn't want lo leave, and in the second half we see Ash using what she learned from her and feeling sad about the situation.

Another vote for Misty's. That episode crushed me as a kid, and honestly, I still tear up a bit when I watch it.

I think it was great not only in the emotional impact, but it gives us a good glimpse of how Misty had evolved as a character over the course of the series. Even though she wasn't at her strongest during Johto, there was still considerable character growth, and that was evident in her reactions and emotions before, during, and after her departure.

Plus, watching that original group split up was just really sad in general. I really think they had the best dynamic, so this departure definitely felt the most emotional overall.

Probably Misty because she had been there for so long. Bock was a bit overdue so I wasn't too sad about that one. Though XYZ was the best series to date in my opinion so I was pretty sad to see that group split up.

Brock's.

There's something very bittersweet about seeing off a very close and loyal friend after such a long time, even though it was for the best. If I had to send off a friend like that in real life it'd be seriously tough.

I may dislike her, but I agree on Misty. She's the first to leave, and I loved the Original Series. Though I still kept on watching the anime, even when people left because of May.

Dawn in DP191, no question about it. It just hit the feels so hard, having followed the series every week from the start.

Strangely enough, I felt absolutely nothing when Brock left in the same episode.

i have to say I did feel it brock left having really enjoyed the character over years for most part

I think most would agree that iris and Cilan were treated way to poorly in the end what ever we may think of them as character's the writers should have still put the effect into giving them a good exit rather than just throwing some random shit together

Yeah, their farewell was especially bad. It didn't help that they spent the entire arc traveling to Kanto with Ash only to suddenly leave in the last five minutes. If the episode had been building up to that, then that could have been fine, but it wasn't from what I recall and it just made their journey with Ash to get to Kanto feel kind of weak. If they weren't going to stick around for at least one episode, then why bother have them make the journey in the first place? It felt like they were just trying to get rid of both Iris and Cilan fast without making the farewell emotional or heartfelt.

Plus who chose Junki Takegami to write the episode?! The guy just went full troll-mode!

it just feels like the writers realized the majority of viewers didn't like their characters or bw so they just didn't putting any logic or effect making quite a few episodes pointless

You don't like him?
I'll let you hazard a guess.

No but seriously, there's a reason why half the episode was devoted to this:
