Which of the older characters do you think will show up again?

Is there any chance of older friends or people that have meet up with ash in the past to appear in diamond and pearl and has there been anything annonced about older friends such as Richy casey tison and maybe even older gym leaders returning for a little?

i heard a rumer about Jasmine, the 6th gym leader in Johto returning is that true?

LOL, that'd be so awesome. There's no "hope" for it though, this is certainly HoS worthy. It's just a matter of if that potential will be realized. In due time, in due time...

OK I'll be the first to say something to answer his question and not bash this poor guy like I'm some kind of bully. I think Richie might come back he is ash's look a like. The possibility of jasmine coming back is high in my opinion as she appears in the D/P games. As for casy tyson don't get your hopes up they were region exclusive characters that have little to no relevance in this generation but if they do show up I'll be shocked.

He's just teasing or kidding or possibly slightly deluded, Ritchie is as gone as the rest of them, and I would be -very- surprised if Ritchie were to ever appear in the anime after this point.

Basically, if they appeared before Hoenn, the odds of them ever appearing again are so miniscule that they're basically zero.

Old gym leaders might return, though...there was that flashback of Lt. Surge in the episode with that guy and the Raichu (I think it was in the seventies as far as episode numbers go, but its name escapes me at this point.)

And it's best to type in a forum as you would type a very, very informal school assignment. You can use an emoticon here and there, like <3 or 8D or something like that, but don't...overdo it? I dunno.

Most of those older characters will never appear again, they didn't appear during Hoenn, what makes you think we'd see them now in Sinnoh?

Bringing back minor characters from 8 years ago that the current fanbase (the kids watching, not us), will not recognize is pointless.

However since Jasmine does appear in the DP games it is possible she would appear again in the anime. Most people barely remember Jasmine in the show anyway, so its not like it'd be a big deal. She was only in 2 Johto eps aired 8 years ago.

8 years? Casey/Richie's Chronicles episodes aired in Japan at the same time as the Hoenn saga (I think their last episodes aired around the time Japan got to the season 7 part of Hoenn... and that was in less than 8 years ago)
So to say they only appeared before Hoenn isn't accurate... not that I think they'll appear again (especially Casey, they gave Electivire to Gary and probably Paul too)
And stop this ridiculous "kids won't know them"... I already said 3532 times that in Japan the original series (Kanto/Orange/Johto) constantly air again and again (2 episodes a day!) and until not long ago Pokémon Sunday aired AG every week... I think the Chronicles episodes also available on rental DVDs

Actually, Scott also had plenty of threads a day several weeks ago and I don't find it annoying. As for this guy, what I found annoying is that the lack of info. about the thread in the title. That really don't sounds like the topic.
On the actual topic, I'm guessing that Gligirl will appear and take Ash's Gliscor away for training. Maybe her Gligar get old or hurt.
As for the rivals, I can see Ritchie appearing again if Ash is to challenge the Indigo League once again. Or it can be Tyson since he was a league winner and Ash will possibly be one soon.

P.S. I will enjoy your threads if you make your titles as clear as Scott's. And please do not post only a ? after your own post. This maybe counted as Spam (non-advertisement) and Double Post, but since you are new here, they may forgive you.

Same here. Gary returned because he was the main rival of the series for 5 years, even if we rarely saw him.

Casey and Richie are just minor side characters, they're not anywhere near as important to the show.

Hence why in the "High Touch" opening they include all the shows important past characters, aside from Drew/Harley but I guess that's because the opening was about Ash and they had little to do with him.

wait i thought the indigo league was gone becuase the said that the indigo is now used for contests not battles and the indigo platue is no longer there

any way this is why johto is so great it is because it brings back old characters so much more than any other region they bring back minor characters from kanto and even earlier in johto

Isn't the Indigo Plateau supposed to be multi-function? And if the league is gone, then what happened to the GLs and the trainers who received badges from them.
