I use a few operating systems for my computers. I have four currently working machines which are a Celeron M 1.73 GHz laptop running Windows Vista Home Basic, a Pentium III 600 MHz desktop running Windows XP Service Pack 2 which also dual boots into Ubuntu Linux and runs Mac OS 7.5.3 in an emulator, also a Pentium I 133 MHz desktop running Windows 98SE, and lastly a Pentium MMX 200 MHz laptop running Windows 98SE.

Currently using:
Windows XP (lack of space :/)

Used to use: (for a sufficiently long time)
Kubuntu
Ubuntu

And played around with too many to name. =p

Vista. Used to have XP and 98, but they both crashed. How charming...

even Vista crashes, trust me. And how is it working out for you? In my case it seems as though I loose my internet connection every three hours and have to restart the computer before I get it back. Could be because I am using a Broadcom 802.11G card which is what is inside my laptop or it could be a bug in the OS, I am not sure exactly what it is at this point .

Vista.

It shipped with my laptop. Though I don't understand all the Vista hate; I don't have any real problem with it except the annoying warning messages that always pop up.

I actually scrubbed my Vista install and reinstalled WinXP Pro because my games ran horribly with it and I couldn't take it anymore. Plus it works better with my network domain's Active Directory.

Well, I don't play games on my computer other than maybe Solitaire and Hearts (that's what my Game Cube and DS are for). Mine's mostly for writing, art, watching DVDs/screenshots, and music.

Vista does just fine with that.

I've used all sorts of operating systems, from Control Program for Micros (CP/M), to MS-DOS 2.1-6.2 (and quite a few in between), OS2 Warp, DR-DOS, Windows 2.1-XP (have used all in between except NT and ME). I am currently running XP on my main machine, and using 98 on my 366mhz Toshiba Satellite laptop.

I am a little wary of an operating system such as Vista that has no advantages for the way I compute, but has many disadvantages for me such as running a lot slower than XP, not being fully compatible with a lot of older programs that I rely on daily, making some things harder to do that are simple with XP... in other words, I think I'll stick with XP for quite a while... or at least until I can get a beast of a machine that actually will like vista.

I'm using XP on this computer, and my mom's laptop has Vista. She can't stand the OS, and is probably going to make the transition down to XP. It just doesn't work for the type of job she has.

In about a year or so I'll be adding a new OS to the list as when I get a new computer for college it'll be a mac. Best computers if you want to go into animation, I hear. Maybe a nice pretty macbook pro if I save up for half of the incredible $2,600 price tag.

Mac OS, and Mac OS only. None of that Windows or Linux stuff for me.

Saving money to buy a fully-souped out Mac Pro.

This computer has Vista. Works out fine. The one I used prior to mid-February was XP.

Sooner or later, I'll get back to XP. Terribly slow, but Firefox runs better on it. :D

I use XP on my laptop and (crappy) desktop, and the second laptop has Vista on it. I personally don't mind at all but it likes to spook me and psuedo-freeze. :x

I'm perfectly satisfied with my laptop :] Sure, it heats up quickly (read: DO NOT UNPLUG THE COOLING FAN. EVER.) but it likes me back quite unlike my other computers..

I have Vista for my main computer, and as a person who isn't very good with computers, I'd prefer a much more stable OS, like XP. Except I can't afford it. I have XP on my old computer, but it's specs are pretty low and it's in serious need of an hd reformat.

I am good with computers myself and even I hate Vista because of its poor network performance and the fact that I loose my internet connection after just a few hours. If it weren't for the fact that I have stuff on this laptop already I would just get rid of Vista and install XP but that is not an option now.
