Which Pokémon will be the next to evolve?

Now that Aipom evolved and Cacnea left, there are new speculations about the next evolution. Aside from obvious choices (Pikachu/Meowth), which one do you think will be the next to evolve?

I figured it pretty much a given by now to stick Piplup with Pikachu/Meowth. Didn't Dawn clearly state she wasn't going to evolve Piplup in an episode? Not to mention... of the three Sinnoh starters, Piplup's definitely given the most exposure than the others, and as far as the anime goes, the most personality. It's definitely winning over lots of people as a mascot.

A great deal of the choices aren't likely to evolve until much later in the series; others probably won't evolve at all (looking at TR's Pokemon, until they get a new one). Turtwig, Buneary, or maybe, possibly, Chimchar, look to be due for it next.

Though it does strike me as kind of lame that Dawn would only finally start using her Pokemon in Contests after evolving (basically, unneeded repeat of Ambipom would be eminent, unless she matures and ends up winning with Lopunny right off the bat). That would be kind of neat, now that I think about it. Buneary's peeved at Dawn for being ignored, and with the Soothe Bell in play, Dawn goes balls-to-the-wall training and bonding with Buneary until that next contest. Seems like a good idea on paper, at least.

But then, sooner than that is Maylene, where Monferno comes into play in theory... which would spice things up for a battle that's long overdue.

And Turtwig... has definitely been around long enough to warrant an evolution by now. Paul's Torterra may throw a wrench in a full evolution, but I see no problem with it staying Grotle. Turtwig's line always seems to be the most downplayed as it is.

... but now that I've said all that, I'm not sure which one is the best to vote for.

What? Treecko evolved somewhere around AG65, I don't remember the exact episode, but it was at some point around the same place Sinnoh is now.

Turtwig evolving soon would make it evolve at roughly the same time Treecko did in Hoenn.

I'd say that the soonest i see an evolution happening is with Chimchar in the the 3rd gym, but if that doesn't happen i think we'll have a ways to go before evolution. Turtwig has been around long enough and I feel out of the three starters it is the least marketable, so it could evolve in the not too distant future.

Buneary's an odd case in that it's evolution is found inappropriate by many people. I don't think that's a reason not to evolve it since at the moment it's getting very little usage, but the writers may see it as a reason not to evolve it.

As for Brock's pokemon Happiny seems like it could go either way, but if they do evolve it it seems like a way to write him out of the show. Toxicraok is also kind of doubtful just because of its poker thing on its hand which would kill in poison jab.

Overall i think it's going to be one of Ash's starters, but which is still in the air.

It's got to be Naetle, only because as I looked at that list, I realized he's kind of the only potential one right now. Sure, I can see where Mimirol is coming from, but it's doubtful. It hasn't had to much battling/appealing screentime so I don't know how they'd pull it off.

Wtf . . Manene? who voted that? hahahhaha It's strange, for whatever odd reason I can't see the Rockets with a human-like pokemon. As in, one based off a human.

I really, really hope Buneary never evolves. Its such a cute little bunny, why evolve it and turn it into a whore rabbit?

I doubt Buizel and Croagunk will evolve, at least not in this season.

None of Dawn's Pokemon get much battling experience, so I doubt any of her Pokemon will evolve soon. I'm sure Piplup will evolve somewhere down the line, though.

I guess I'd have to say Ash's Turtwig. Chimchar will become an Infernape, I'm sure of that, but it hasn't been under Ash's wing long enough.

When did anyone say Cacnea evolved? It didn't, as far as we know. It's quite possible for them to see it later evolved, but we don't know that. It's not in James' possession anymore so it really doesn't matter.

Was here from DP5 so after about 60 episodes it can evolve soon

Staravia > Staraptor
I think they'll wait until we'll get closer to the end of Sinnoh

Chimchar > Monferno
I wanted Aipom to stay as it is with Dawn at least a little longer before evolution and I hope the same for Chimchar but just like Aipom they might evolve it fast after the trainer change

Buizel > Floatzel
I hope not... at least not soon

Piplup > Prinplup
Won't evolve

Buneary > Lopunny
I don't want it to evolve but friendship checker in the Pokétch (that was one episode after Buneary caught) + soothe bells makes me think it will

Happiny > Chansey
It has oval stone already so I guess a little after Brock will start using it it'll evolve (and next episode it seems it'll learn refresh so maybe Brock will start to use it now)

Croagunk > Toxicroak
I don't think it'll evolve

Mime Jr. > Mr. Mime
Won't evolve

So I think the next to evolve will be Turtwig

OMG, it's the first time I see Naruchu referring to Buneary as "she".

Also, the Mime Jr. thing... haha, it's almost impossible it will happen, Mr. Mime is not a TR Pokémon, since we got used to seeing it cooking and cleaning and all that good guy stuff, but hey, DP's getting extremely unpredictable by now, and they could do it, but I don't see any reason other than more comic relief.



I think twiggy's the next too, although it has a lot of personality and it may be lost within the evolution.

I guess I'd have to say Ash's Turtwig. Chimchar will become an Infernape, I'm sure of that, but it hasn't been under Ash's wing long enough.

I really don't see why time is an issue, Starly and Snorunt evolved not too long after they got caught, and sides Chimchar's got the training to go for it.

As for Turtwig, I still don't see why people want it to evolve so badly, it's not like much will change if it does evolve, all it will gain is more size, more weight hindering down it's speed (which is something else i'll get to in a moment) and it will still be boring as the writers are not going to simply hand it a personality, did Aipom change after evolving personality wise? I don't think so, which means even if it evolves Turtwig still won't get one, it'll still be boring personality wise and just be bigger..that's it, and being bigger isn't always better.

Sides the speed issue is still an important factor of it, and if it evolves it will lose that factor and it's movement will be reduced because of it's size and weight, not to mention that since most only see it going to Grotle, what's the rush? It can go at anytime, where as chimchar NEEDS to evolve to Monferno asap if it wants to reatch Infernape later on. It turtwig was to rush on into the Grotle stage and is still boring then people are gonna be begging for it to evolve again cause it wasn't handed a personality like they thought, nor will it ever get one either.

Sides it's not like turtwig really has anything to gain(heck there's also Paul's torterra holding it back), it has no drive, no direction like the others, it has nothing, it is nothing, Chimchar's got revenge and potential, Buizel's got the attitude of a warrior like Charizard and Sceptile, and Staravia evolved so early on it's only natural it would evolve again, Turtwig has absolutely nothing to it's name, so it should just stand back after learning energy ball and let those who have something do thier business.

i think turtwig would be best to evolve because he never had a ground/grass pokemon so he probally has an advantage.

Brock's Pokemon tend to evolve a lot, so it wouldn't surprise me if Croagunk evolves toward the end of Sinnoh.

Doubtful considering that he has a "gag routine" to preform. It wouldn't be as "funny" with a Toxicroak.

Happiny is more likely of Brock's Pokémon to evovle, athough I'll be a while before it evolves.

Eh, it wouldn't surprise me if it evolved, but I do agree Happiny will likely make it all the way to Blissey by the end of D/P.
