Which Pokemon would you pick to be the mascot of the entire Franchise?

OK, let's say for some reason you were recreating or rewriting the entire Pokemon series, or creating a spin-off series...(I'm not saying the real Pokemon Co. should do this by any means)

But, if you could choose any Pokemon Gen. I-IV to replace Pikachu as the mascot and face of the Pokemon brand...who would it be? Which Pokemon would choose to be the best friend of the lead anime character?


And give reasons why.

it wouldn't have to be one of the starters...pikachu wasnt.

you could create any backstory for it that you wanted...as they did with the whole 'Ash slept in late so Bulba, Squirt, and Char were taken already' thing.

I'd go with Eevee. It seems the most "neutral" and appealing. Though if it were the mascot, it would probably have like seventeen evolutions by now. Yes, even something as ridiculous as "Normaleon."
 
One of the starters. Charmander, Bulbasaur and Squrtile. Even Eevvee because it represents almost all the types but not Pikachu theyve overworked it.
 
I agree with Eevee. Or maybe Clefairy, since that was the original idea for the anime.
 
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Mew yet. I would definitely choose Mew as the franchise mascot.

First of all, it's freakin' adorable. Second, it was the Pokemon that everyone wanted in Gen I, and is therefore very recognizable. Third, it represents every other Pokemon in the series very well, since it contains the genetic code of every Pokemon, can transform into any Pokemon, and is (arguably) considered to be the ancestor of all Pokemon.

It was also patented back in 1990.
 
I would do Mudkipz, because who doesn't Liek Mudkipz?

Seriously, I wuld choose Eevee as well. It's basic enough and it's cute.
 
You know, my first thought was Mew. That's pretty much sealed for me with Ceallach's reasonings.
 
Still, Eevee has a major role in just about every generation, and keeps getting more and more unique.
 
I agree with the majority here that Eevee would be the best candidate. Incredibly popular and almost everyone will like at least one of its evolutions.

On a different note, I am so pleased that Clefairy was not the mascot. It just doesn't have the appeal to everyone.
