Kalos; Because Ash was the Most Competant, And the Strongest He's EVER been; He Never came so Close to winning the League of an Official Region before!!
This thead and poll are for discussing which region in the anime you liked best, so it's not about saga-specific things like you described. If you want to discuss what the best saga is, you can discuss that here: Which was the best series?

I'm not really sure what to pick, as I find the Regions often serving like nothing more than a backdrop in the anime. In the games they do a really good job of giving each Region another culture and feel with different environments, but I haven't felt that way in the anime tbh.

While the series is young and we've only really seen Melemele, I do like that it seems they're trying to have the anime's Alola stay faithful to the games, as a peaceful (apart from Team Skull) island archipelago where people are friendly and live in harmony with Pokémon.

And as much as it was a filler Region, I liked the Orange Islands quite a bit. By that time it was the first and only island Region and I liked how unique it was. For a filler region, it was pretty detailed, with its own map even. Unlike Decolora. But yeah, I guess I just like island regions.

Hm I liked the regions of the Orange Islands, Hoenn, and the Decolora Islands since they have more of a nice and tropical setting and I always find ocean sceneries to be quite gorgeous.

I also liked Sinnoh for its more colder and snowy climate, especially when Ash and co were in Snowpoint City.

Unova was great as well. I especially loved some of the night scenery there in the first several episodes.

If you mean region as in what region I think was the best represented, I choose Kalos. And I choose Kalos because I felt that every game town and city that Ash and friends visited was inherently unique in some shape or form, and not simply a repaint stock town or city that I would see in earlier series. Like if they are in Lumoise City, you know it's Lumoise City. Same thing with Shalour City, Coumarine City and Anistar City. The Gyms are well designed, some reflecting the game aesthetics while still being its own thing. It's that kind of quality that I wish to be the standard of regions in terms of design and location.

Kanto has some unique designs, but it is often hampered by stock background and towns. And for every Pewter Gym design (I truly love its aesthetics inside and out), there's a Vermillion Gym design of blandness that pops up (I felt it could have been designed a lot better).

Sinnoh was similar in that regard, which is really a shame considering I did like the region in the game and the story in the anime. Had DP got the XY production budget, it would have been truly amazing to see. Especially considering that the Sinnoh League had a bland battlefield for the fierce rivalry battle between Ash and Paul.

Kalos... god damn, if I ain't come across a region so lush and beautiful as Kalos.

Hoenn because I loves me some tropics. I pick it over Orange Islands and Alola largely because I like AG more than those seasons.

Kalos is very nice too with the upgraded animation.

My favorite isn't a choice in the poll, but it's actually already Alola.

I agree with @Neo Blaze that the anime doesn't do a great job of portraying the regions. Many of the fantastic details and lore they are given in the games isn't carried over to the anime. Alola has been a really nice move away from that habit. Not only has the anime included and really focused on the whole "nature and Pokémon go hand-in-hand" theme, but a lot of the scenery itself is just beautiful. The beaches, the ocean, Wela Volcano, the fruits and flowers and plants...it's all so bright and really sets itself apart from many of the other regions which end up feeling almost generic. The catchy tropical music doesn't hurt either!

Though Alola is my favorite, I also like the Orange Islands for reasons similar to Alola: different traditions, the tropical feel, traveling from island to island, etc. I also thought the lore included with Sinnoh was really nice and made it stand out as well.

I hate alola; I wasn't interested in seeing a walkthrough of the game, The Anime Sucks with it's TERRIBLE Artstyle & Lack of Focus on the Trials, and how it Portrayed Mimikyu as a Psychopath, and Has Ash be Tortured by EVERY SINGLE Pokemon he Meets, and I WANT MY GYMS BACK!!!!!!!!!

Oh, well...sorry about that? That's just my opinion. You don't have to agree with it, but you also don't have to be rude about it.

I never thought Satoshi would escape generic forest, but he has..
OLM probably had a ridiculous stockpile of viridian and brown paint during the cel days.

The digital era made it a little less forgiving. lol

Alola by a mile.

What's the difference?

a. Well done for cherrypicking the most diverse forest backdrops from XY and the most similar from SM.

b. Satoshi .co are now rarely in woodland vs previous series where they spent a significant majority of time in these forested areas.

I just randomly choose these episodes from the list. They're all random fillers.

And now they spent their time in the same school, generic beach, generic city/town and their houses.
