Which rival was more lovable, Paul or Harley?

Both were jerks at times, both were very helpful. I may be wrong, but it appears to me, that out of all the rivals on the show, these 2 have been the most popular.

I loved Harley more for his humour, his Pokemon, and overall him! He rocked so hard, I loved the drama he created, and I loved his design.

I made this thread simply because I wanted to test the fanbase and find out who they thought was more interesting, since Harley and Paul both were characters that would have never even thought of 2 appear 14 years ago.

My vote is Harley!
 
Paul. He's based off Silver, my favorite Rival. And he's got a Honchcrow, one of my favorite flying types. Oh, and he's awesome.
 
What, no "neither" option?

Anyway, my vote went to Paul, even though I normally don't like him. He's the one who keeps pushing Ash to be better than him.
 
I loved Harley. He may be a giant jerk, but he's hilarious and loves his Pokemon to bits and pieces. Paul is an asswipe and makes me want to punch things.
 
In terms of story they're about the same for what they did, but in terms of entertainment/comedy Harley was far better.

Paul is way too one-dimensional at times and has the same static interactions with everyone. Harley had better moments.
 
Paul? Loveable? OK, cool I can get, but loveable? Maybe in Bizzaro World, where he's called 'Push', and only catches the most huggable pokemon so he can squeeze them and pet them and name them George.

Going with Harley on this one. Hillarious, and a huge jerk who could pose a legitamate threat whilst being the aforementioned hillarious. :p
 
Definitely Harley.

Paul is a great rival cause he's a perfect foil for Ash, an anti-Ash if you want, but as a character, he doesn't really have anything going for him. Harley was his own character and was funny while being machiavellic and malicious.
 
Both characters are awesome in their own way but...

...I chose Harley.

He was the funniest thing on Pokemon before Piplup came. His flamboyant personality makes him all the more funny. I also liked his various interactions with characters.
 
um Harley, wait no actually Paul... hmm. They were both so differently amazing. How do you expect me to choose?!

Harley was helpful? Which episode was that in? So far I'm up to watching May's first Kanto contest, and he's coming off entirely as a creepy douche. What kind of messed up man-child hates and holds a grudge against a 10 year-old girl?

Paul is definitely the more likable of the two; at least he seems like regular person, albeit emotionally cold. He's honest, as well, which is a quality Harley seems to lack entirely.

And that's what makes him interesting.

Paul, as much as he brings to the show, is mostly one-dimensional. His personality didn't change over DP at all, and he has the same boring interactions with almost everyone.

Paul's personality could have been done better, he didn't need to be so stiff and one-note. But people like him because he gives Ash a great challenge, is the strongest shown rival of the show, and is different than all the other nice characters.

Characters can be interesting without having severe (mild is fine) emotional problems, to the point where they become characters that almost make you sick. For me, anyway, Harley crosses a line from "interesting" over to "outright creepy". His reasons are too petty, and unlike Team Rocket he's not amusing while going about his schemes.
 
Harley, definitely because he is amusing, and he also made AG slightly better, IMO :)
