Which ship is the most appropriate, age wise?

Can you clarify please? I'm not entirely sure what you're asking.
 
What?

Are you asking which ship is appropiate for youngsters, or which ship has two characters of similar age? (i.e., not something like Prof. Oak and Misty...which is damn creepy)

Well almost all of the main ships have the two characters 'suitable' in age. Although I get creeped out when I read Ashxanyone and it goes to a mature rating. Let's remember Ash's age, kiddies. Sure there's a couple out there that might seem kinda 'eehhhh' but they're usually VERY minor ships.

The biggest age difference I can assume would be eldershipping, and they're both adults, so what does it matter?

So if you're asking within the ships themselves, I see very little issue. If you're talking whether kids that age SHOULD be shipping, let me say that there's a major difference between cutesy 'I think I like him' stuff and hot and heavy stuff. It's easy to go overboard :D
 
Agreed on Poké/Contest/Penguin, and I'd say Rocketshipping's got a fairly minimal (if any) age difference, too.

"Appropriate" is hugely subjective, though. I mean, would you disregard certain ships as being appropriate for a younger audience if the two characters were the same sex, even if they were exactly the same age?

Hmm. Just saying. ^^;
 
Yeah...

...but you have to remember that Pokemon has a really bad way of keeping track of their ages.

so you could go by everyone staying 10.
or by the ages that they should be.
 
Some of us.... ahem, skirt the issue simply by aging all the characters up to late teens...
 
All ships can be perverted, regardless of age. You just have to avoid those instances.

He means that any ship can be 'inappropriate', regardless if both are 10, both are 20, or one is 10 and the other is 20.

Age between characters is irrelevant; I 'ship Ash with people outside his age group and inside his gender, but not for reasons that necessarily mean sex. On the flip side, you can't imagine how many hentai images I've borne witness to of Ash and Misty, as they were in Kanto/Johto, having graphic sex. *btw, blecky; no love for Pokeshipping*

So it's all a matter of opinion and personal preference. phantomness does have the right idea though, with aging younger characters upward to made the actual age difference less of an issue, thus subsiding whatever 'raging fangirls' come screaming through over 'ZOMG, ash iz olny 10, u syko!!' when paired, with, say, Lorelei or Lance.

...Although, less would be screaming at Lorelei, and more at Lance (but that's an obvious response; het = normal, ghei = immoral and disgusting, after all).

No matter what age/sex/race/species of any two characters, someone will ALWAYS have a complaint. Really.

He means that since the bulk of Pokemon characters are underage, that you're shipping minors together in possible sexual situations.

Not that it matters, even the writers don't seem to give a damn about the characters matching their age. If that were the case, May wouldn't have boobs and Dawn wouldn't be wearing the shortest skirt a 10 year old girl could legally wear on TV.

We've all noticed the writers purposely draw fanservice toward 10 year old girls, don't you think they know what they're doing? I know Japan is a fucked up country, but they don't seem to mind, so why does it matter?

Granted, I still don't ship characters too far apart in age. I think the most I've done is Max and Misty, considering their 1-ep time together in BF, but at least that can be done in a "kid has crush on older girl" type of thing.

Really, I see the opposite more often. Lots of yaoi fangirls who hate a ship for no reason other than lack of ghei.

Oh there's no doubt that happens. I've seen it, and given myself pounding headaches from smacking myself repeatedly. *halo* Morons make me hurt. =D

But at the same time, when it comes to gay versus straight, the yaoi fangirls will attack the chick in the 'ship and not an author outright, while the het fangirls will claim "HE AIN'T GAY BITCH" and then call the author various insults for even daring to assume one half (or hell, both) of a 'ship walks the other side of the street.

And in the Pokemon fandom specifically, the former (the yaoi fangirls) are in the minority, even when the one character whose sexuality seems to matter to anymore is Ash's (and maybe Drew's...and probably now Paul's). They'll slam the girls, most of the time, on forums and blogs. They'll rarely take it to the fic itself. The het fangirls have no problem (and no bloody smarts of live-and-let-live) bashing if they think their boi is in jeopardy of (pardon the images) losing their "other" virginity.
 
You Pokeshippers are going to hate me for this but i checked the records and here it goes. Although i'm sure Pearlshippers will semi-appreciate my find

Okay towards the beginning of the Johto region in the short film before Pokemon 3; Ash celebrated his first anniversary of him and Pikachu. In othere words, his birthday. So meaning he was 11. That makes it very clear that he did not grow another year before Johto was over if it took him 2 1/3 regions just to grow 1 year.

That means that Ash was 11 when he met May. Basing that it takes him 2 1/3 regions to gain another year, (2/3 in Johto, 1 in Hoenn, so that means 2/3 threw Kanto over, he became 12.) So that means he's 12 now in Sinnoh

Another fact to point out. Misty was already an Experienced trainer when she Met Ash. So that means she's older than Ash, And she already has an evolved pokemon and pokemon evolutions in teh show have always taken forever. What do u think?
