I use Gimp and Sketchbook. They work just fine for me and I personally ain't a fan of Photoshop. Too confusin'. Oh, and Plastic Animation Paper for animatin' (though I've only done one, kinda crappy one)
I use a number of programs for my digital paintings. I usually use MS Paint or Open Canvas for sketching, and then Open Canvas for creating the "good" lineart. I use Photoshop CS 2 for coloring because of its layer support, library of different brushes to choose from and useful editing tools.
I find Photoshop really difficult and awkward to sketch on for some reason. I also can't achieve good lineart using Photoshop.
I saw through my mistake with gimp. Until it updates to 2.8, and I see if it improved, I'm stickin' to photoshop. Sketchbook, I may give another chance, but like gimp, it just seems clunky.
