Hey guys, what's your favorite starter for DPPt? Even, if you want, post an example of your team when you start (It would really help).
 
I started off with Chimchar, because I've been a sucker for the fire type starter ever since the Charmander days. I soon caught a Starly, Bidoof and Shinx, then a Budew and Kricketot in the forest. Once I got the Old Rod I caught a Magikarp, and trained it up into a Gyarados, relegating the Bidoof to the role of HM slave. And that's the team that took me all the way to the Elite Four; Infernape, Staraptor, Luxray, Roserade, Kricketune and Gyarados. My team normally ends up being the first six different Pokémon I've caught...
 
Started whit Chimcar, then got Abra, Psyduck, Shinks, Gastly and Zubat.

But I have played it so many times, so last time I used Phinoe, Elekid, Magby, Aipom, NidoranF and Munchlax.
 
I started off with Turtwig, with the exception of Emerald and HeartGold, I always choose the Grass-type.

I then caught a Starly, a Shinx (I fell in love with them), a Kricketot, some other 'mons.

I ultimately beat the Elite Four with a Shinx, Chimecho, Kricketune, Clefairy, Gastrodon, and a Dialga.

Right now my party is the same, just swap out the Kricketune and Dialga for Pikachu and Pichu. :p
 
nice guys, great reaction time. Let's make this a giant thread!!! I haven't gotten any of the generation IV games yet, but when i do, i'll give some feedback
 
I've played the game with all three of them. To be honest,the most useful one (in-game) for me was Empoleon, but Torterra was good too. Infernape kinda let me down when the Elite Four came around. Anyway, I always have a Grass, Fire and Water type in my party and when the starter isn't occupying one of those roles, the ones I choose are: Roserade, Rapidash and Floatzel respectively. All very good choices for me. I also caught a Pikachu and a Starly (in Platinum, she was dumped for Girafarig, who worked surprisingly well.) The last slot is usually for the HM Slave (Bibarel)

To summarize:

-Torterra/Roserade
-Infernape/Rapidash
-Empoleon/Floatzel
-Raichu
-Staraptor (or Girafarig)
 
I choose Chimchar, then added Staraptor, Luxray, Floatzel, Gardevoir, and Jolteon.
 
Lolx.. So many started with Chimchar.. I as well started with Chimchar.. And hated him for years.. (=_=")Then I chose Turtwig in Platinum.. And liked him for weeks..
 
I chose turtwig as for my team I traded for the other two starters, luxray, staraptor and garchomp.
 
I actually started with all 3 of them by trading and resetting with my brother. My favorite has to be turtwig, though.
 
Started with a Turtwig in my Diamond and picked Chimchar in Platinum due to not actually having him.

Love Turtwig.
 
I go with the Piplup line. Lexigton the Empoleon is amazing
 
Started with Turtwig, caught Shinx and Starly, caught Maigkarp with Old Rod when I got it. I just ran around with those for a while but when four wouldn't cut it I got a Croagunk just 'cause it looks funny. Magnezone replaced Luxray after a while, when I realised that I only had physical attackers :|
 
since maybe my second playthrough, turtwig. i can't believe i was so mean before and called it 'turdtwig' :( it's now my favorite starter out of all of them.

i chose piplup as my starter in my first playthrough.
 
I meant to pick Piplup, but I got distracted by something and accidentally selected Chimchar. I was too lazy to go back and change it, but I'm actually glad that I continued to play with Chimchar. :)

Soon caught a Starly, Shinx and Shellos, and traded in-game for an Abra.
 
Turtwig is my favourite one. When I first saw it I thought it was pretty cool, not to mention everyone else and their sister seemed to be picking Chimchar/Piplup and I like being different :p

Diamond: All 3 through separate playthroughs (currently Turtwig)

Pearl: Chimchar

Platinum: Piplup
