Which starter do you think the new character will obtain?

I doubt this, but I'm going to say the grass one. May had a Torchic, Lyra a Chikorita and Dawn a Piplup.

It apparently has to do with GF honestly. All of May's counterparts have a Torchic and May in the games has been shown with a Torchic starter at least one in official artwork.

Likewise, Dawn has a Piplup in all her incarnations except for Mitsumi, and if I recall correctly at least one official artwork has shown her with a Piplup. Probably not though; She doesn't appear much. Similar deal with Lyra.

But anyway, which starter do you think they will obtain? Needless to say Ash will obtain the other two anyway.
 
I'm hoping the fire one, but it's probably going to be the water one :\
 
I really hope its not the water one but the grass one the freshest since the main girl has never had the grass starter.
 
Now that I think about it, I'm doubting the grass starter.

Her having the grass starter would mean the fire for your rival in the games. And unless the male protagonist obtains another random Pokemon, he'll have the water one. I can't see them promoting that starter for him.

Fire for her, water for rival, grass for him..
Water for her, grass for rival, fire for him..

I'll say the fire starter seems like a good bet.
 
The otter is very similar to Piplup, and I reckon it was designed that way on purpose. So I'm going with that as my guess. Any redundancy to previous pokemon is usually a non-factor for the show's writers anyway.
 
I hate the look of the Otter so much, I hope it evolves fast so I don't have to look at it too much, so hopefully a rival will get it. Hope Ash gets the Grass one, that one looks like such a badass. This leaves the fire for the new character (Assuming it will be Dawn leaving, and replaced by new girl). I also wouldn't mind if Ash got the fire and new girl got the grass, I just don't want either to get the water.
 
Well I'd like to see her with the Fire Piggy, but since May's starter was a fire-type and Dawn's was a water-type, there's a good chance that she'll choose the grass starter.

Which Is fine with me. It looks pretty cool. Just as long as she doesn't go with that dodgy water-type >.>
 
My bet is the fire one despite reasons mentioned above for the other two.
 
By the time the BW anime starts, May and Torchic are from 8 years in the past now.

Therefore another fire type with the girl won't seem redundant, as this is 8 seasons later. Some of you just don't realize how old May's character is now.

What if the new guy (if there even will be a new character) doesn't get one of the starters? What if they all go to Ash again? What if they do something completely different? What If What If What If.

Because of that, I can't narrow it down, even to an educated guess. Perhaps with so many people bellyaching about Foamface they'll decide to hand it over to a main character in order to improve it's image. Maybe they're saving Fire Pig for the inevitable Chimchar story. Perhaps Smugleaf never shows up because he's so damn smug.
 
As long as it's not the Grass one. Personally, I wouldn't mind Jessie getting that one, what with it being a snake.
 
Reigh- If either of it's evolution still is a snake and is Grass/Poison and there's no other snake types who knows maybe.

I rather if Ash/New girl gets either the Grass/Fire type, the water if it has to be in the anime can go with Brock since it will be probably shafted (Don't really like it, unless it's evolution is cool)
 
I'm betting it'll be Pokabu. I'm sick of seeing the Fire starter getting abused in some form (same way as Charmander, Cyndaquil (though it was about to be captured by an abusive trainer) and Chimchar). If it ends up getting abused in some way, Ash will end up capturing it.
 
I'd like Fire if Dawn leaves and there's yet another disposable girl that joins the group. Grass would throw my personal fanon off (it's complicated). Of course, the writers don't give a toss about my views. On the other hand, they don't seem interested in saying if there was a girl who got a Bulbasaur or a Charmander at the beginning of the series, so yeah. Like I said, it's complicated!
