I love toy story, the third movie is my favorite! Which one is your favorite?

It used to be the second one when I owned it on VHS as a little kid but now that I've gotten older I'm leaning more towards the first Toy Story being my favorite. I watched the third Toy Story when it first came out, before my freshman year in high school me and a couple of other people snuck in the theater to watch it without paying and I enjoyed every second of it.

But I realized with every new installment Buzz Lightyear seems less and less important compared to Woody, hopefully the upcoming 5th Toy Story corrects this. Also there's a lot of die hard Toy Story fans that completely ignore any sequels after the third and just treat it as a trilogy. Toy Story 4 obviously isn't on the level of the first three but I thought it was still decent.

2 > 3 > 1 > 4 > Lightyear

Toy Story 2 is like a top 2 Pixar film (I think Ratatouille slightly edges it out) for me, and one of my favorite films period. It's a perfect expansion of the original's universe and themes, it's really funny, and idk... it's just really enjoyable and rewatchable. It also had an infamously chaotic production so the fact it came out essentially perfect is a miracle.

3 I'd say is my runner-up. After the 15-year buildup of hype from the previous two, it's genuinely insane how perfectly they stuck the landing with it. I see why many people have it as their favorite. I rewatched this recently and was better than I remember, and my expectations were still pretty high.

1 does not quite have an emotional core as insanely strong as 2 or 3, but still holds up great storywise and is also just unbelievablely funny. Even without the then industry-shattering CGI (which really only shows its age with some clear model reusage and Sid's Dog), I think this film would still be renown for really good reasons.

4 is a bit of a downgrade compared to the other trilogy, but it's pretty solid on its own, and goes in really impressive places, even if I felt the ending was pretty forced and a departure from what 3 established (and 5 is already looking to backpedal from it ahaha). Basically it's a solid enough 7.5/10 in the shadow of the original trilogy's 10 - 9s

Lightyear meanwhile is like the blacksheep of the bunch. My watch of it felt like a blur. The story felt pretty weak, I was generally uninterested with the characters, and the changes to the lore felt very forced for the sake of twists. Probably my least favorite Pixar movie.

Irt 5, I had some hesitations with how obvious the synopsis was, but from the recent trailer and interviews from the crew as well as the directors' credentials (he was also behind WALL-E and Finding Nemo) i have trust they can pull the modern tech storyline in a nuanced way. It also seems like the cast beyond Woody get stuff to do this time. It seemingly being Jessie-focused in particular is also really cool to see! Like others, I don't think we need a 5, but what I'm seeing thus far has me intrigued all things considered.

You cant beat the first Toy Story movie. Its a classic, I personally dont see the others being as good in my opinion, though I do like the second one for a lot of reasons too. I loved the whole universe that Woody is a part of with the additional characters.

I dont know how I feel personally about the 5th one,but it will be interesting to see how they impliment the tech storyline with how many kids these days are spending more and more times on screens like tablets and the concerns that come with with kids being exposed to that technology and its affects on them rather then playing with regular toys like the original cast of Toy Story. I hope they can address it well.

I think the first movie might be my overall favorite, followed by 3. The second film is great, too.
The fourth one, of course, I have mixed feelings about. On one hand, I agree with most that the film series could have comfortably ended with the third movie. 4's existence wasn't really necessary to begin with, since 3 pretty much concludes the ongoing storyline about the "life cycle" of children's toys. But on the other hand, the overarching themes of letting go and moving on still carry some weight, and despite how unpopular the ending is, it's probably the main thing keeping 4 from being a total nothing burger of an installment.

I know a lot of people aren't excited for 5 (especially when the trailer feels like it's already revealed most of the story beats, honestly), but I'm actually kind of down for it. The "toys vs technology" theme has at least been a long time in the making, and Toy Story may as well be the world used to tell this story. Imo, this movie should have been the real Toy Story 4.

I'm bias, ngl, 'cause I saw the 3rd one in theaters, so Toy Story 3. I like to pretend the second one never happened.... I don't care enough to watch the 4th and beyond, nor the spinoffs, so Toy Story 3 all the way. You couldn't pay me to watch the 4th one. The story should have ended at the third one, seriously.

1 is...okay, never had strong opinions about it, just fine and goes right to the point. It's interesting how it pulls an unsympatehthic protagonist and how Woody's arc about accepting change goes.

2 is my favorite. The characters are more tri-dimensional and likeable, the humor is top-notch, both the Woody and the Buzz plots are executed flawlessly and the climax is excellent. Also has a lot of genius scenes where the characters have to use what's in their environment to succeed.

3 has grown on me. As a teenager I did not like it, I thought it was too dark at moments and that the climax was too long. Nowadays I've grown to appreciate it for that, has strong themes and commits to them and scenes that are just magnificent. It still feels like classical Pixar but with drama amped up so it would felt like a movie worthy of bringing the franchise back and ending it at the same time.

4...ugh. My reaction after my first viewing was "not bad, but there's something missing" and after my second viewing I realized there's A LOT missing. This video sums it pretty well, the plot is forced, the focus on the new characters is forced as hell, the Forky plot goes nowhere, and the old characters barely have lines.

Lightyear is...kinda underrated. Yeah, the second half has tons of flaws and would have benefited from multiple rewrites that would help the characters feel interesting, but it's a serviceable space movie and commits to it's theme that you don't always have to go the extra mile and fix all your mistakes if you're hurting yourself.

IMDb is not a valid source when it comes to debunking theories
So you don't believe it's the same person? Other than the actor doing a sit down interview confirming that he played Sid Phillips in Toy Story 3 what is a valid source?

I didnt say i didnt believe you but i would wait until we have confirmation from the creator of the franchise at least

Shirts or voice actors are not enough to debunk film theories voice actors voiced different characters in the same movie franchise (not this one) before
