I like Red and Green games the best of all! hardcore old school Pocket Monster games!
though I have been playing Pearl alot often....
lets see what yall think!

this is very hard to say, I like Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver, and Diamond although I am currently playing Diamond only at this time I still like all the older games and still play them too.

I mostly play Diamond right now though I know I need to play Pearl to get Palkia. And extras of some of my favorite other legendaries. (GIRATINA!!)

I can't really decide on a favorite. I think Emerald might be the best but I don't own it.

Crystal, of course. Despite my name, I've only played my friend's gold and I've never laid eyes on a Silver version. (I'm planing to go hunting for one at the used game shop at my local mall soon) I've had two Crystal versions, on my first one the battery died, and the second one I still have. I feel retro nostalgia playing it now, I know all the tricks, and even which pokemon to catch depending on your starter. (For example, you would only cach a Poliwag if you started with Chikorita or Cyndaquil, so you have a pokemon that can learn ice punch for beating Clair later on, of course, if you pick Totodile this weakness is covered, so go for Bellsprout or Geodude instead, since both those types cover one of Totodile's weaknesses each.) Yah, that's the game I grew up on. It's odd, but beyond the rough graphics, lack of pokemon avilible, and the whimpy leaders, that was one COOL game, in the golden (and silver) age of pokemon.

Edit: You know what's also weird? I almost aways go back
and fourth from playing as a boy to playing as a girl in my
games, but in Crystal, I've only once ever played as a boy,
and I started that game over for no reason. (I used to have
a bad habbit of doing that, but my will is stronger now)

Also, another thing I find strange is that I and anime Marina
have had three of our best pokemon in common. I to have had
Jigglypuff (later Wigglytuff) and Feraligatr as some of my first pokemon. Not that it counts, because it's on colo, but I raised
Shadow Misdreavis to level 100.

GSC junkie, Gold and Silver aren't much different
nor is crystal much different form Gold and silver...
just differnet sprites and stuff
but yeah those games were some of the best, what I really liked doing in those is going back to kanto to see the changes you know?

The changes in Kanto bugged me to death, but only after I played the Kanto remakes because I never owned any gen 1 games permently. (Me and my friend lone eachother our games and pokemon alot) Kanto just seemed kinda sad because all the changes where for the worse. I aways have this wierd feeling that Red was sad about that when ever I battle him at the end of the game.

Pokeslob, there where lots of changes between GS&C:

Crystal added and changed:

Female player (Added)
Eusine (Added, for some reason Nintendo thought Suicune
needed a fanboy)
Stationary Suicune boss fight. (Changed, before it ran around like the other two)
Locations of Lugia and Ho-Oh (Changed)
Location and avilibilty of certain pokemon. (Eg: You can't get Mareep on Crystal)

And others I don't know about but am sure exist.

GSC junkie, I realize that their were alot of changes, but they all seemed very minor to me (besides the female character that was an interesting new concept)

Yeah and I liked kanto because it felt like I was walking through the ruins (almost) of the former glorious kanto

and red isn't sad about anything he's just the silent hero that doesn't say anything!
although Inever thought about it that way, he could be trying to escape the ruins of the fallen kanto by hiding in that cave mabey?

My mind went in the gutter the second I saw "pole" in the thread title.

I'm an awful person, no need to say it.

Anyway, I went with Emerald. I still play the dang game, though I've stopped with it until I can beat DP and be happy with the outcome. I always get partway through any game and think "well crap I should've done this" and throw it out. Either way, I actually prefer the style of RSE, I guess it seems brighter and more colorful, I'm not really sure. Plus it has the Battle Frontier. I got so giddy the first time I got there. It was all "OH CRAP LOOKIT ALL THIS STUFF" for me.

I also really like FRLG, and I also still play Crystal. Emerald's my top, though.

it was a shame to see Kanto in a state of ruin in the G/S/C generation but at least we still got to go there. And not only that I liked going there because my all time favorite gym leader is in Kanto more specifically Cerulean City. Diamond has been lots of fun for me so far and I really like the online battling and trading feature. This really helped me with the team I just got through with since some of the Pokemon I needed were rare.

I am also a Misty fan, mainly because I like water pokemon
(and it was funny when she slapped satoshi in the first episode :D)

butI thought it was cool to go through the state of ruin in knato you know?
especially after you beat the first game you can come back with old memories

good times........ good times........

you know I just realized I misspelled poll, pole hahahahahahhahahahahahahaha :D

I said no preference. I've found starting any game always brings me a sense of fun. I can't wait for my new emerald game to arrive (ya, way way late, but new games aren't something I can afford, need to buy it used cheap).

yeah emeradld is a good one, its a great upgrade you'll enjoy it!

QFT. Also, notice that the deforestation of Viridian Forest resembles how the forests and fields that Satoshi loved as a child were paved over by apartments and parking lots?.

And one more thing... look how much Kanto shrunk!.
5570 x 5808 - Kanto (RG)
4480 x 4320 - Kanto (GS)

though something changed for the better!
did you notice that all the gym leaders were a 10000000x stronger?!

I like Red and Blue the best since I grew up with those but Ruby and Sapphire were really fun and my current addiction is Pearl.

I have played all the English version of the games and think that Diamond and Pearl has something special to it. It maybe that it is new and looks cool. There is also the fact that since RBY and a few GSC Pokemon that DP has one of the best sets of Pokemon yet, IMO. I loved all the classics and Johto introduced some good ones as did Hoenn, but I wasn't as impressed with them as a whole like I am with Sinnoh's selection of monsters.

I also really loved Yellow, I mean come on Pikachu followed you, that's just cool. Plus you could get all 3 starters without trading, and there was Jessie and James. It was just good.

yeah Yellpw was pretty cool
being based on the anime and all

it would have been better if you had Takeshi and Kasumi in your party like in the anime!

R/B had all the cool glitches, and there's that nostalgic value. Apart from that, they weren't that great, though.
G/S/C was a fantastic series, and despite being horribly rushed, Kanto was fun. There were loads of new things introduced, and left an overall fantastic game. Music was sweet, too.
R/S/E took a while to grow on me, but Emerald is probably my favourite. Battle Frontier, revamped breeding system and plenty of opportunity for more competetive stuff. It also had Swampert, Skarmory and Lanturn (instant win. <3) available pre-E4, and the best music (IMO) in the series. Battles and Movement were sleeker and faster paced.
D/P was kinda disappointing. Everything was slow, music wasn't as good, only half the new pokémon were cool (Gastrodon and Drapion are awesome, however <3), and any really nice changes were competetive, really. Localisation and the Galactic themes were great, though.
