White/Black = Terrible Names?

I'm not a big fan of the names to be quite honest. They sound primitive compared to some of the more recent ones.

I agree. I don't like the names. Why?

1) Look back at Junichi Masuda's blog around the release of FRLG. He said LeafGreen didn't become WaterBlue because, among other reasons, GameFreak didn't want two colours that opposed each other, symbolising conflict, as the world was in a pretty war-torn state back then. So now, they've chosen the two most prominent polar opposites.

2) I believe political correctness has gone so far, but I still think "Black" and "White" could still be considered by some to have racial connections (which we all know isn't the case, but you know how some people react) and could hinder sales.

I agree. When I first saw the names I was like, wait what? You sure this isn't a joke? Light and Darkness would've been much better names, and would be almost the same.

I smell a troll.....

*facepalm*

Giving your opinion is something totally different from trolling -.-

They're simple. I don't see anything wrong with them. Not the most exciting names yet, but better than going with more gems/metals or orange and purple lol.

and that's a bad thing? i mean, what could they possibly have done to beat diamond, pearl, and platinum? SOLARFLARE ORANGE and MOONBEAM CYAN!!! no thank you. i'd rather it be something simple like this, rather than something crazy and overly complicated.

plus when diamond and pearl came out, even though i liked palkia better, pearl just seemed a bit more... girly. i know it's immature, but i just didnt feel like dealing with anyone that would make fun of me for it. at least with this i can pick either and be fine with it.

and ryu, as for the whole political correctness thing, that's really stupid. first of all, if someone says "black and white" and the first thing you think of is racism, then you obviously need a reality check. second, i dont think anyone is going to take offense to it, and if they do then they might as well sue the whole concept of physics for even making the colors in the first place. and lastly, i've seen a couple of racist jokes about black version, and if you don't take them to heart they're honestly pretty damn funny. that's not to say white version jokes wouldn't be funny either. and i wouldn't feel offended by them at all.

You can't call Black Bags Black Bags any more, you have to call them "Refuse Bags" for example...it's not me who personally takes offence to it, but others might. My main reason for not liking them is about what Junichi Masuda said...

In my opinion, yes. They didn't have to beat the previous titles, just be on par with them.
Diamond, Pearl and Platinum I don't consider crazy and complicated. I like them. I would prefer names like that. Just my opinion.

really? i'd call them black bags. this whole political correctness thing is all way out of hand. it's a friggin color. i'm not saying the n word when i say black. but yea i mean i understand what you're saying, and i'm not bashing you. just saying if someone takes offense to it then they need to grow up, cuz that's obviously NOT what they mean by it.

i just saw a post in a different topic saying they're probably going to make it "light and dark" in america, which wouldn't surprise me at all considering all this controversy on just the first day lol.

Yeah, Political Correctness is out of hand, but it's here. And yeah, unless they make Jynx exclusive to Pokémon Black Version, then we know they don't mean to be racist.

lmao yup. see, little jokes like that never hurt anyone. but if it actually happened then i'd shut my mouth haha

If it gets changed I'm going to be surprised. The game called Black and White made it. I see no reason a pokemon game would have to change unless idiots cried really hard. It's a freaking color. It's back to basics with colors, "hip" as far as modern design and selling goes, and likely has symbolism.

Well, what I based this off of is that the name of the OP is kinda random and also that their first post is insulting some of the very little information we have about the game.

Black and white are the main colours of the Yin and Yang symbol, which isn't a conflict between two forces but shows two opposites that are part of a larger whole. If anything they've just subverted that notion.

And that just kills any racism logic since if they're going with the obvious theme here, they aren't segregating black and white, but are showing that they are just parts of the same thing. Racism my ass.

Again, if someone mentions the words black and white and the first thing you think of is racism, then you have a problem, especially when these games were made in a country that doesn't have the same history between Caucasians and African-Americans. Political correctness also gets to the point of ridiculousness when it becomes taboo to mention the colour of an item. I mean some dumbass got offended because of a black crayon had the word "negro" on it when the crayons had English, French and Spanish(?) translations of the name on it. It was referring to a fucking crayon.
