I feel really bad. I've been hearing all about how much trouble everyone had with Whitney... I beat the first try. What did you find most difficult about her? And how did you go about beating her?

Well, her Miltank is so damn annoying. I had to grind my Nidorino up to a decent level before I even though of facing her. And really, it was a lot of healing and reviving and cursing and hating and yelling and milk drinking and stomping and attracting and rollouting... it was a long battle and all I could do was just attack attack attack.

I had no problems with her this time, however in the originals she slaughtered me. Took her out pretty easy with Golbat, Croconaw, Butterfree, Bellsprout, Sandshrew, and Flaaffy.

I used Muscle, the Machop. It was pretty damn easy

Her Miltank ripped my MUSCLE a new one with a single Body Slam (or was it Stomp?). I ended up having to just bludgeon her Miltank to death the good ol' fashioned way. With much cursing and whittling down and milk drinking and rollouting. :D

Huh... Low Kick worked wonders for me. She never stood a chance

I can't remember if I beat her on the first try. Her Miltank doesn't go down without a fight, though.

I hate that Miltank. So much.

I lose about half my team to stomping before I can get her paralyzed--how can a giant cow move so quickly?! I have to paralyze twice, of course, due to that infernal lum berry.

Then I send in Dratini and dragon rage to death. If she can survive at least one stomp, that's victory.

Gastly line's Curse is golden against any leader. That is all. Solid 25% damage each turn. Stack on it Bayleef's PoisonPowder, and that's 31.25% each turn. :p

I hated that Miltank. It took out my Croconaw with Attract + Stomp while it (Miltank) was at half-health. I had to finish it off with Elekid's Low Kick.

I HAVE to try that one out.

I found Whitney easy...which was a shame, as apart from Clair, none of the Johto Gym Leaders put up a fight...and until Blue, no Kanto gym leader put up a fight.

You wouldn't of understood it if you didn't play the original Gold/Silver/... Since Miltank was a new Pokemon, and the fact that it's a Normal Gym, you'd be like "wtf? Is this gym serious? A Normal? Huh... Yeah right..." And then Miltank would use Rollout and you'd be like "Pffft! What attack was that?! Tackle is stronger!" And then Rollout would get stronger and KO any Pokemon that comes out by the time Rollout was on it's 5th turn even that Geodude you caught wouldn't stand a chance to it. Then you'd be like "Nice! It's almost dying!" and then it would use Milk Drink and restore it's HP... THEN! You would be like. "@%#^$@#!&&(#$!"

She beat me on the first try because my team was underlevelled, but I grinded my Heracross for a little while until it learned Brick Break and then it was a piece of cake.

So, so true! I hated Whitney with a passion in GII!

I got really lucky with her this time round, though. Was all prepared for the worst, used a female Machop (not Muscle, one I'd caught on my Pokéwalker, not sure what level she was though), rendering attract useless, and Miltank just stomped the whole time - no rollout or milk drink. So after a few flinches she was a beefburger in no time. As I say, though - it was just lucky :)

ALL my pokemon were male when I fought her, so I was in love 3/4 of the time and the rest of the time confused. The Miltank's stomp was horrid and then you get her down to just needing one more hit and bam! Milk Drink.

So I trained and fought her again. x-x Took a few tries to beat her, but I did.

UltimateSephiroth, now that you mention Gastly, I had one to use against her Miltank, I was going to Curse the Miltank and sit pretty while Stomp couldn't damage a ghost Pokémon, but you know what ended up happening?

Her Miltank killed my Gastly, a Pokémon that's supposed to be immune to Normal moves, with Stomp! A single friggin' stomp! Of course, her Stomp hit before I could use Curse, so that method failed miserably for me. :p

yeah unfortunately her Miltank now has scrappy.

I really didn't have too much trouble with her really. >_> In my JP SS she was surprisingly easy, and in my US HG I had to pull some revives out to bring back up my then-aipom who I had taught some fighting moves. On the plus side, my then-aipom is also female so I didn't have a problem with attract either. I do, however, remember Akane being hard in GSC though. xP

Whitney was easily the hardest gym leader so far for me (out of the first 7), her Milktank seems to be much more thought out than most of the gym leaders pokemon. Status countering berry, ability to hit ghost types, milk drink...

That's how I beat most of the gym leaders as well, with the move Curse from my gastly/haunter.
