Who did you teach your HMs to?

This may sound like a fairly random question but seriously, do you use HMs much as far as your finished team is concerned? (ie after finishing the story mode). Some HMs such as defog make for pathetic battle moves yet others like surf are fairly powerful...

Plus, it can always be annoying when your searching for that TM or item and find you haven't brought a pokemon that knows the necessary HM move to find it =P

Surf is the one hm move I'd give to a pokemon for battling. However, Fly is the only one I carry around unless I have some purpose for the rest of them.

i tought mine to kabutops and aerodactyl but i only keep aerodactyl in my party

Surf= Poach the Empoleon (lvl 100, yay!)

Fly and Defog (I hate defog!!)= Ebou the Staraptor

Dig (I know, not an HM, but it's like one), Rock Climb, Rock Smash, and Strength (my hm slave)= Shodon the Geodude

Waterfall and Cut= Uno the Biberall

I know, my pokemon are horrible, but at least I can get around.

Empoleon knows surf. I don't remember who knows the others.

I keep Surf because it's powerful and more reliable than Hydro Pump. I keep Fly as well, if only because of Drifblims pathetic flying-type move pool.

My Skarmory and Bibarel are always on my belt (HM slaves), but as for my final roster, the only HM in my current main party is Surf.

My Pikachu does the surfing for me, Onix has the strength, rock smash, rock climb ones, and a Staraptor handles Fly and Defog.

But, no HMs are used in my final team, don't really like water types so no surf, and the rest aren't very useful.

Bibarel is quite handy since it can handle 6 of the 8 HMs and is my HM slave of choice. Steelix and Pidgeot carry the slack of the remaining HMs that don't fit on Bibarel [ie Rock Climb, Defog and Fly respectively]. Cut isn't really all that necessary postgame so I don't find myself needing it as much but I have a pokemon for that, but can't quite think of it at the moment.

Since my RBY days, I've always appreciated the good work of a Pidgeot, but this time around getting one so late in-game has led its stats to become deteriorated and I don't think I'll be able to keep it apart of my final team. However, I do like to have him around for his handy fly ability.

Strength and Cut
Contrast the Lopunny

Fly
Sunset the Staraptor

Rock Climb and Rock Smash
Memory the Torterra

Surf and Waterfall
Threshold the Floatzel

I bring all of them usually, because they are my team pretty much...

Floatzel knows Surf and Honchkrow knows Fly. Of course, I'm not into battling. *shrugs* My Boxed Mantine and Steelix know the other six moves and Surf between them. If Mantine could learn Fly, I could have all 8 HM's on two Pokémon... Ah well.

Well, I use Surf ONLY because it's a Water-type T-Bolt/Ice Beam w/o the paralysis/freeze.

Bibarel: Cut, Rock Climb, Rock Smash, Strength
Pelipper: Surf, Fly, Defog

These are my main HM slaves, but my Empoleon has Surf and my Floatzel has Waterfall (which actually makes a very good water type physical attack)

I usually spread them around my team to whoever can use them, like Staraptor (when I still used that emo-bird, sorry, no offense...) Fly and Defog, then when I got to the Pokémon Stadium, I flew back to the Move Deleter, took off the HMs, used the little amount of heart scales I dug out to reteach them some good moves and TMs to help with the rest.

Now, I use a HM slave.

I have one or two Bibarels that I use for most HMs, but I have around 5 flyers, 3 Defoggers, and more Surfers than I care to count.

Bibarel: Cut, Rock Climb, Rock Smash, Strength
Pelipper: Surf, Fly, Defog

These are my main HM slaves, but my Empoleon has Surf and my Floatzel has Waterfall (which actually makes a very good water type physical attack)

I have those same HM slaves (pelipper and bibarel)

it depends.

in my later Pearl runs(i'm on my 4th now) i use a machamp gyardos and a tropios that i send over from diamond at the first pokemon centre(along with the eggs for the pokemon i'm using that time)

in diamond, surf is on any water pokemon with special attack over physical. waterfall is on any water pokemon with physical over special (i change my team every so often).
fly is on dragonite/(F)starapator.rock climb is on burnie(infernape)/sleepy(snorlax).
