Well for starters they are supposedly enhanced versions of how they originally sounded, yet they barely recognizable.
If I had heard these cries without the visual I would have swear that they are new Pokémon as some notes are nothing like how they were.

Besides which, why did Gamefreak decide to do the enhancements now? Why not back with Ruby & Sapphire the GBA's enhanced audio hardware?
If they can make the then new Pokémon that advantage of the cries then why they decided to do this supposed enhancement's now instead of back at the GBA days.

Finally there's Pikachu.
WTF is going on here?
If I had not knowen any better I would have mistaken it a bog mix up with the Anime.
The games & the anime are of separate canon & same with the cries of the Pokémon yet all of Pokémon's X & Y's Pikachu's now have Ikue Otani voice acting.
Sure it may be a neat supprise if it was an event Pokémon in pretty much the same way that Pokémon Yellow has Ikou Otani's Pikachu Cries yet regular Pikachu's should still have the games cry.

While I still love Pokémon X & Y yet these mutalated cries still bother me.

Re: Who else disliking the new cries of old the old pokémon?

Pikachu's cry is one of the best things in x and y, so much nostalgia. And I don't see how you can't recognize them, most are nearly the same. And besides, roars and chirps are way better than the non-animal beeps and whirs from gen 1.

Re: Who else disliking the new cries of old the old pokémon?

The only thing that bothers me a little bit is that I can't recognize some of them right away anymore XD. I'll get used to it.

Re: Who else disliking the new cries of old the old pokémon?

Like everyone else says, they're not really THAT different and I actually recognise them fairly easily (Charmander, for example).

...well, as best I can when I wasn't a huge fan of the original games to begin with. As for Pikachu...well, I like it using the voice. I just wish that it didn't lose that ability when it evolves or hatches as a Pichu.

I don't like that they used Pikachu's anime voice, it should get the same treatment as every other Pokemon.

As with the enhanced cries, it's nothing I've paid that much attention to. I think some cries has lost a bit of their charm, but it's just a matter of getting used to them so it's no big deal.

I like it. I found it weird that they only used it for Pikachu and Bidoof though... Why Bidoof? lol

Re: Who else disliking the new cries of old the old pokémon?

I don't mind the small changes done to most of them, nor I mind the anime Pikachu voice too much. But speaking of that, I really don't like how Raichu's quite iconic "screech" was completely muffled to some random puny squeak. There might be others I don't remember right now but that's one of the worst ones I do.

Re: Who else disliking the new cries of old the old pokémon?

Many are great and sound a lot more realistic, but some irk me. For example, Loudred had a pretty great cry but they tweaked it so it sounds kinda silly now. And Exeggutor had a very memorable cry that worked well even though it's from GenI but its new cry is very forgettable.

As for Pikachu, although it's a throwback to Yellow, I'd prefer it if it's cry was like Pichu's and Raichu's (non-anime'ish).

I agree, I know pikachu is the pokémon mascot and all but they shouldn't do these special treatment with it (Though I know is off-topic the megas too show who GF most loved pokés are and it's always them, how unfair >_<).

On topic again, I din't like the new cries..Maybe it's because I'm used to the old ones but they are indeed odd.. An example's spearrow, I went to a flying safari and said poké appeared. But I must say t's not as high pitched as past gens (xD), maybe that's why. I don't like too some of the new designs (*audino*).

I was, at first, put off by Pikachu's cry, (or rather, more surprised than I should've been about it), but I adjusted rather quickly to it. I don't mind the cries at all, I think they're honestly a hell of a lot better than they were in previous gens.

I hate the remixed cries because I liked the way they sounded before.

I don't like Pikachu's voice ingame because Pokemon saying their names should be an anime-only thing.

So far the only cry that really threw me is Charizard's. I know Charizard and Rhyhorn originally had the exact same cry and now they are different, but Charizard's being about an octave lower is barely audible without headphones.

For the most part, I don't really mind the new ones. It is weird to hear classic cries that have changed, though. Off the top of my head, Dugtrio and Exeggutor are two changes that I do dislike. Only because I think their old cries were great (and yes, very nostalgic) but now I barely recognise them - especially Dugtrio.

It's probably mainly nostalgia, but the remastered cries don't really work for me. They all sound too alike.
They lack the soul that they used to posses...

On one hand I'm glad the cries have finally evolved to fit the graphics, but on the the other hand I'm annoyed at how generic some sound now. Oh well, cries aren't really that big of a deal, so I guess it doesn't matter.

I don't mind most of the cry changes. The most screechy ones in Gen. I-V were fixed (for example Gothitelle, Jynx) to sound a lot better to the ears. I appreciate those changes the most. Pikachu's cry I would've preferred that it didn't have the anime-like cry. I think all Pokemon should just have cries and not say their names ever in the games.

I honestly didn't really notice the different cries, while they did sound weird to me at first, I got used to them rather quickly.

For the most part I dislike the new cries. They all sound too alike in my opinion, and some of them are just awful (like Machoke's, ugh). I know I'll most likely get used to the new cries, but I wish they had at least used different cries instead, if not just keep the old cries.

I really like Pikachu's new cry, actually, but after reading their explanation for the change I hope this was a truly one-off ordeal, and not Game Freak toying with the idea of canonizing Pokémon repeating their names in the games, like what they do in the anime. The last thing we need is Zekrom, for example, just yelling his name all which way during battle...

I actually love the new cries. No, they don't sound 100% as nostalgically identical as they used to, but it's better than the way it was where all the new Pokemon vaguely sound like real animals and the first couple gens sounds like a demon possessed blender full of rocks and sandpaper. I also love Pikachu's cry because it reminds me of Yellow.
