I like Death Note so I did this to see if anyone else likes it too.

what is death note?

Death note is pretty much a story about a monster who drops a book that alows you to kill anyone if you write there name in it. Unfortunately a teen with an wierd sence of justice named light finds it and causes havic with it, but good for the people there 3 top detectives on th case to find and pretty much destroy light and the death note wich is the book.

I find myself siding with light. I don't think what he is doing is necesiarily bad, so long as innocent people aren't hurt.

Your right but at the same time inocent people like lights father, L, Mello, and Takada died in lights hand also he tried to kill his devoting follower
Misa.

I think he should write the prime minister of Yugoslavia's name so the 3 blind mice can live in harmony.

I like the series, it really is fun writing because when ever I read it, it feels like there is about 3 layers of content: The first is the actual story of what is happening with the "game" between Light and his opponents, and the second is the social messages it sends to the reader, and the third is the game with the reader and the writer.

I also like how rude the series is by throwing ideas in your face saying something like "This is how it is". The series really aims to offend people, all people. I really am going to keep out spoilers, for being a thriller spoilers can ruin the series to a good degree.

However, yes, the most interesting part of the series is the 3rd story, which is the game between the reader and the writer. It's big question is "What is justice?" and it presents this well (as what already is showing in your responses) because it really has a strange feeling of "Do I root for the hero or the villain? And who really is the hero or villain? Is there a hero?"

I think that is the most interesting part of the series as I think it really makes you wonder about the human psyche... because Light isn't suppose to be a crazy person...

I don't mind it, though I have some friends who live by it.

I read it...might pick up the volumes, but from what I heard it tries to be alot deeper then it actually is.

However, it makes for thousands of funny net images so something good came out of it. Ever seen the Light Swimming Lessons?

I saw that, but it's more of an Anime Joke because it doesn't look like swiming in the comics. It's funny, (for some reason, more so if you've seen the end) If people want to read it, I don't suggest the look out for the joke until after they finish reading it... that way they get the full impact (it doesn't really ruin the ending, but it's like saying the boy in the sixth sense eventually gets over his ghost problem)

From the comic, from what I tell it didn't try to be deeper than it is. (It never blatant says any of it's themes or rubs them in your face, the only time it is ever really stated is in the "How to Read vol13" and the art book "Blanc et Noir". I think that's why a lot of readers don't know they are part of a game when they read it.

I mainly want to blame random shonen haters (because there are people that Hate Shonen titles for no reason other than they are popular) but it's probably from later in the Anime in which I haven't seen. I thought the Anime tended to get a little over dramatic (in a comical way too), but the comic presents it in a pure Philosophical form: It presents questions without answers. :p

Hmm... for super popular series, I'd rank it's deepness with Ghost in the Shell. If anything has it's deepness inflated then it's probably Eva.

--------
Note: I just now peeked at the ending of the Anime and they kind of took a pansy way out. It's no where near as cynical or meaningful as the comic, just dramatic... which is ... a disappointment.. but I still want this show to be popular in the US.

Please don't include Spoilers in your post, unless they are inside a Spoiler tag. Thanks.

Well...I like Death Note...My favourite character is Ryuk, the shinigami; and L.

I really hate Raito/Kira. He thinks that he can do anything he want only because has that crappy book...

You know, while we were talking about the How to Swim bit of deathnote, I completely forgot about this: (warning, contains spoilers)

It premieres on Adult Swim on October 20, 2007. Will replace BLEACH while they Dub more new episodes.
