Who is tougher ash or paul?

Well, depends on the plot. Technically, it should be Paul. But Ash will end up beating him anyways.

I always noticed that. But one thing is that Paul is using his Torterra Weavile and Electabuzz and Honchkrow are all caught at hoeen johto or kanto. ash meanwhile has only pikachu. that may be 1 reason ash might have lost the full battle. but now he has torterra and infernape. he has 2 great weapons to prevent electric attacks. (gible also). So i kinda agree with you. If Ash has Charizard maybe Ash could have won the full battle
 
Ash is trying to be fair and using all of his Pokemon has now.
He just needs to train them more before the league.
Now if were talking harder on his Pokemon, than yah Paul.
 
if Ash used his full team, say, Pikachu, Charizard, Snorlax, Sceptile, Heracross, and Staraptor, he might just beat Paul. His current team, though, could use some more practice before the final battle.

maybe replace heracross with torterra and staraptor with infernape. yes. heracross is nt strong enuf.. torterra nd infernape are necessary
 
Paul is technically better. Y'know, he uses his brains and stuff and actually uses Pokemon he knows will win. Don't deny it, experience matters. The writers completely ingoring it is another thing.

Ash would kick Paul's ass n the League, tho. He'd better.

I mean, he actually uses his brains, he isn't afraid to talk back to people. You also have to admire his physical..Uh...'toughness'. When they were climbing down the mountain, compare his descend to Ash's
 
That ep actually revealed Paul has been training secretly under Koga.

Following Reggie's suggestion in A Pyramiding Rage!, Paul battled Ash in a full battle in Pedal to the Mettle! and Evolving Strategies!. Here, he shows his true colors in battle and, despite Ash's Chimchar evolving into Monferno and three of Ash's Pokémon using the Counter Shield strategy, Paul won the match easily with only at a loss of two Pokémon overall, where one defeated half of Ash's team nearly single-handedly. He had his Pokémon use a broad variety of strategies, which he kept up his sleeve until this battle, such as tempting Ash to send his Staraptor up against his Torterra so he could attack it with Stone Edge, Electabuzz using Light Screen to aid its comrades, using his Ursaring against Ash's Pikachu so as to activate its Guts ability, and his Magmortar using Rock Tomb to protect itself against Water-type attacks. As a result, his strategy of completely overwhelming and outsmarting Ash with his more powerful Pokémon team succeeded.

Absolutely. Guts was the best! And Ash with Torterra and Infernape will be more powerful. But Paul uses Pokemon that he caught in the past. All of Ash's pokemon are Sinnoh caught.
 
I want Ash's Torterra to learn Earthquake and Infernape Flare Blitz. Gible Draco Meteor perfection. Pikachu should learn a new move or use Thunder again
 
You guys do know that Ash uses his brains too right? It's not like Paul is the only one of the two to use them.

Ash will likely out-strategize Paul in the league. That being said I like Paul alot more, so I choose Paul and the fact he trains alot like most people.

Paul. He only lost to Ash once, when his Staravia evolved into Staraptor to gain an advantage against Honchkrow in a competition.
 
I'd say Paul, only because he is unethical in the way he trains, disreguarding the feelings of his pokemon and choosing automatically strong pokemon and discarding weak ones, but by the end, Ash should be stronger, only because he has actually tried harder than Paul and done things how I think things should be done, by training and bonding with his pokemon so they can become stronger and be able to listen and learn better from the two way relationship Ash has with them.

Ash is probably stronger, he's just not using his older Pokemon.

Ash's Sinnoh team was still weak when he battled Paul, he only had Chimchar and Staraptor just evolved.

If he battled with the Kanto/Hoenn teams, the outcome would have been different.

No, it wouldn't.

Shinji used strategy in the full battle. Did you really not see? He made sure that his Pokémon's abilities were activated and used defensive as well as offensive moves. Light Screen and Rock Tomb ring a bell? All Satoshi did was use the Counter Shield.

Shinji's Pokés all come from other regions as well. Most of them are what the Kanto starters are to Satoshi.

And he lost because Ash's Pokemon were not at the top of their game. Yes, Ash was battling poorly compared to Paul's strategy, but there was still the power issue involved.

When Chimchar evolved, Monferno suddenly got a power boost and beat Ursaring in one or two shots.

I don't see what the problem is here? Ash's previous teams were very powerful, but he handicap's himself by only using his current team.
