Mine is Steven, he retires to freaken look for stones

Diantha. Her team isn't that great in a fight, but she's such a kind and noble spirit that I don't really care in the long run.

I wish we got more of her throughout the game, like Alder. He is probably my runner up for reasons similar to Diantha. Especially in the Adventures manga.

Cynthia. Her team was almost identical to mine the first time through (I think I had spiritomb, garchomp, milotic, lucario and roserade). She was the first champion to have a really 'diverse' team (apart from Blue, who I don't really think of as a champion for some reason).

Gotta be Cynthia, since her team is op and is as a champion should be.

I'd have to say Lance. I remember having so much trouble trying to defeat him. When I was finally able to, the amount of joy and relief I felt was never duplicated.

Steven. He gets actively involved with you from very early on in the game and shows up to give you all sorts of advice and aids you when you're in trouble. Tag battle with him against the evil team? Awesome :3 He interacts with you on a personal level and shows a lot of his personal side as well. Also, he gives out a lot of gifts - talk about noblesse oblige free shiny Beldums for EVERYONE. Very memorable in terms of story.

As for his team, I'd say its well balanced considering he's supposedly a Steel-type master. It really reflects his hobbies on traveling and searching for rocks. His team is so him. Carbink was an excellent choice for his rematch team because I can totally imagine him getting excited over one during one of his excavations, but I wish he had Excadrill or Aegislash instead of Aerodactyl. Empoleon might have been a good choice as well.

Tl;dr, Steven is my favorite champion because of all the details designed to make him a well-developed character.

Steven is the best in terms of personality, role in the story (at least in ORAS), and team balance. Alder is my favorite design-wise, though.

Cynthia. Has a great team, helps you out and is just awesome.
Steven is my second favourite though because he was amazing in ORAS.

Lance, absolutely! Very compassionate towards Pokemon and he does something about people using them as tools without losing it. Being a champion who could just use his high positon to so much, he helps Pokemon in need. My respect instantly earned! Also, he's quite a mysterious character too.

This opinion applies to not only games but anime AND Adventures too, he has the same qualities but the setting is different.

Cynthia, hands down. She had the best team, was helpful, beautiful, curious, had awesome battle music, and quite difficult to defeat, as a Champion should be. She really did an outstanding job at her job, really making you work for the title, yet still quite supportive and willing to give you advice/tips/encouragement to achieve greater heights.

Steven in ORAS is a definite second place. I'm glad they really expanded on his character and role in those games, made him much more memorable and outstanding.

Steven. Originals or remakes (where they merely expanded his character) he was always a cool guy that appeared often and helped you in a pinch. His team is one of my favorites as it sticks to his hobby. Good move there. And his battle theme (sadly shared with Wallace) took home the classy gent was as fierce as the monsters he made his companions.

Second place goes to Adler. His appearance as well as his theme in BW took home his lengthy journey and hardships to become what he was now. Honestly, one of the more insightful characters in the main series. Sure, he wasn't much of a fight, but he even admits it's been too long since he's fought at that level and it was a nice touch.

Lance, he is my favorite champion because he is a dragon user. By the way I would like to apologize to everyone on the forums from what I did on the speculation forums, I was wrong for doing what I did and I am sincerely sorry. People are allowed to have their opinion and speculation. I promise to not repeat what I did again and stick to the rules. I hope one day I am allowed to speculate again. Anyway I am sorry and I will post normally for now on.

I'm gonna go with Blue. Every other generation had a pre-established champion. It was a nice surprise to see that this rival of yours who you've been beating to a bloody pulp all game bested the Elite 4 as well. It all came full-circle. Yes, the others all have their high points, Lance being another one of my favorites, but Blue will always be my number one favorite.

Iris? Iris. She came out of nowhere, has one of the best champion themes, and is the best twist of gen 5. She's not like Wallace, who became a champion after being the top leader, but a kid who was trained to be a gym leader then pushed further to the role of the champion, and it put such a good damn smile on my face. And it was great to see a leader with an actual species team, instead of something you'd get from a fan who spends too much time on Smogon. Did I mention the music? Freaking Rainbow Road levels of addiction:
