Most of the general fandom recognize that Ash =/= romantic. Any obvious love and affection he imparts tends to go to Pikachu, if not the rest of his team. And any passionate attention is usually reserved for two types of people: his opponents and, more definitely, his rivals.

But the other way around...well, that's an entirely different story. We know several good souls were explicitly smitten with Ash (Misty, Chikorita, Macy, Latias, Anabel, Aipom, Angie), and some possibly (not definitively) secretly smitten with him (May, Dawn, Brock, Melody).

So then comes the question, with anyone in mind: who is going to get to him first?

Half debate (civility is key; I want genuinely problematic posts reported, which is your responsibility as users), half discussion, and any Ash 'ship is welcome to the fray.

Yeah, even Solemateshipping.

Nice approach. Let's kick off with MorpheusShipping!

Clear hints from Angie's side, she blushes when Ash is around, said that summer academy with him was the best ever, and even her parents have noticed how she feels for him. :shy:

I think/hope Angie will appear again during the Sinnoh League, and maybe then get through to Ash's dense head/heart for a change... :)

Morpheus is quite the one-sided ship, as many are. That "many" includes my personal favorite, Pokéshipping.

Good hints for Misty/Kasumi include her blatant jealousy when Ash is around other girls, she blushes a whole lot around him, gave him that hankerchief (traditionally means a girl likes a boy when she does that), and so on...

A list is in Bulbapedia, of course.

The one who will get to Ash first is the one Ash will notice first. Currently he's so oblivious he doesn't respond to the clearest and strongest hints. One day, Ash will realize life isn't all about friends and Pokemon training and catch on, but the question is, whose hints will he catch onto first?

I'm rooting for Angie, personally, but that's the only Ash ship I'm even remotely excited about so it's just personal bias. Then again, the Shippers' Paradise is built on personal bias.

Next time I come on here, I'll go for PokeShipping, but right now I'm going with the classic Advanceshipping hint-

Movie 9 is the only known time when a *possible* couple encountered Luvdisc, in a passionate sequence like it was.

Personally, I don't think Ash and Dawn seeing Luvdisc on a tourist trip looking for Phione really counts. I sense Alexa coming to defend it, but take a look-

@ Dewgong - Admittedly, I think the Lovecus means nothing. Sure, it could be taken as a small hint, but it's not substantial enough IMO to really be used to back up a ship.

Misty, Anabel and Angie were all clearly infatuated with Ash. Those three have the hints that are absolutely undeniable. The other girls, like May and Dawn...those hints are debatable.

This.

Pikachu loves him! Pikashipping conquers all!

Well, who else has Ash ACTUALLY confessed his love to?

In the 8th movie, when Ash was dying and Pikachu was trying to save him, Ash told Pikachu that it couldn't save him and to take care of everybody else and not to worry about him. Then what sealed it was Ash being cut off when he said "I'll miss you buddy, I love you-" and then dying. Pikachu obviously realized this and tried to save him 10 times harder. When Pikachu failed and Ash was killed, Pikachu started to cry similar to the first movie when Ash was killed. But this time was much more serious as Pokemon Tears couldn't save Ash. Pikachu obviously knew that he was dead for good this time, and this was why it was crying. Personally, this scene ripped my heart out and I just made it sound a lot more serious than it was, didn't I?

And who is Ash always protecting?

And what two characters had an ending entirely dedicated to their ship?(I'm referring to Soko Ni Sora Aru Kana or however its spelled)

Bottom line, Pikashipping has taken all from the start, and Ash loves Pikachu with all his heart. ^-^

Besides, it's not like anyone elses tears ever brought Ash back to life.

I agree with Dana. Kasumi, Lila and Aoi are the only ones who clearly showed hints of liking Satoshi.

Hikari hasn't showed anything that says she likes him and Haruka obviously had enough hints to prove she likes Shu.

My thoughts exactly. Which is why I have no problem whatsoever when someone talks of Ability or Morpheus as their top shipping, I like those too. I also like Pearl because they look cute together, but not to an extent more than that. Advance...Let's say it's also nice, but I like Contest waaay more.

That's true. Descriptions from Sapphire, Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum about Luvdisc/Lovecus associates seeing it means being blessed with eternal love, but it limits that to couples.

So far, no pair with Ash has been officially determined a couple, so it really isn't a hint. Some shippers may see the words "officially determined" differently than I do, but what I mean is we physically see ASH AND A GIRL DATING. IN THE SHOW.

(Being accused of being a couple does not count)

Pikachu loves him! Pikashipping conquers all!
Pikashipping is probably the most canon Ash ship out there.

Ash has shown so much dedication to his Pikachu, and he's known Pikachu longer than anyone else. Ash also seems to see Pikachu as a whole lot more than "just a pokémon."

At least we can say this ship is very much confirmed, but its not romantic in the slightest.

Sorry for the long post :p

I thought ships had to be romantic.

I thought so too, but yeah, many people have the same idea. I can't see Pikashipping as romantic, and on the Pikashipping thread, most don't consider it romantic either.

Pikachu,Chikorita,Latias,and possibly Gligar..

Oh wait,you mean humans?

Angie,Anabel, that girl at the Champion league, and possibly Misty.

Well you obviously have the platonic friendshippy types. In the case of the oh-so-(friendshippy)-canon Pikashipping, I think some people find that Satoshi's love of Pikachu, whilst not romantic, does conflict with his ability to have a relationship. But I'm just pontificating...

Well it doesn't have to be romance like (just like how all movies don't always have to have love intersts)

His dream to become a pokemon master alone conflicts with his ability to have a romantic relationship.
