You know the ones were the robots were square and not looking like some realistic stuff made by bay and when Jetfire was still an Autobot or they don't look like some cubist kiddy stuff(I love the plot of animated but the bots are ridiculous). What do you prefer? Well as you can see i prefer the old days. I mean 5 years ago you could have 2 awesome transformers like this:

And come up with this:

Sorry bout nostalgia rant but I just can't take it anymore seeing where the franchise went.

Man, this almost as whiny as the "TRUKK NOT MUNKI" rants I've seen when I was researching the fandom.

I like the new, slicker Transformers as much as I like the blocky ones. Frankly, it doesn't matter, since I'm still waiting for the triumphant return of Beastformers. But I'm happy as long as they release at least five Transformers that turn into animals throughout the year.

I have no idea about the trukk not munki rants. And yeah if beastformers do come back I will be happy. As long as it doesn't have that cubist look or whatever the new animated series has.

Okay okay I get your point but yeah.

I Agree that the old ideas were awesome in idea, but the designs of the newer ones are much better.

I do very much.
I was really disappointed with the 2007 movie. Especially with the handling of Megatron.
I hope Beast Wars and the Unicron Trilogy are made better. I don't see any hope in the 2009 film.

I loved the new movie and the more realistic look of the transformers. On the other hand, the new transformers animated series on CN is laughably bad. Wow! sorry to anyone who likes it, but holy crap!

Anyways, have the Beastwars been confirmed in terms of a movie in the future? I havent heard anything.

I am missing everything about Transformers (1984-2006), and not the 2007 and onwards stuff.

But on the other hand: mind yourself pal, many people love the new cartoon series as well as the films.

Nope.
You ever watched Beast Wars? I mean it seriously.
Did you actually sit down and see at least a full single season let alone the whole thing?

If you have, please give your honest opinion on it.

Umm, I said sorry to those who liked the new series, but I don't like it and IMO it's terrible. You can like it if you wish.

And yes, I've seen Beastwars and I liked it...that's why I'm wondering if there had been some confirmation about a Beastwars movie or something...you mentioned it earlier so I thought you knew something I didn't. So ease up on the 'tude.

I thought Animated was awesome until they decided to cancel it. And it had a severe lack of Blackarachnia. One episode per season does not make me a happy fan.

I came into Transformers in the line they called "G2", or the second generation of original Transformers. I used to love all the smaller robots that came together to make one big one. I had two of such sets, but I gave away both of them (daggit). I also loved Beast Wars, which is actually the first Transformers show I can remember clearly. I remember watching the original Transformers, but I do not remember what went on in any episodes. Beast Machines ended my watching of the shows for a while, even though I saw the ending, which was perhaps the only satisfying part of the whole thing. I had a lot of toys from Beast Wars and I gave them away, too. (BTW, I thought a dragon transformer was beyond epic, too bad they didn't do much with it in the show) I then watched some of the first anime, Robots in Disguise (Car Robots for you purists). I got the Optimus and Ultra Magnus for that one. I don't remember the anime that well, but I do not think I was that impressed. This caused me to ignore two of succeeding animes, even though I got the toys for Unicron and the Optimus, Megatron, and Omega Supreme from one of them. (Energon, or Superlink in Japan. I think the Unicron is from Armada, but I don't remember clearly) Then, for some reason, I got back in temporarily for Cybertron, the last of the Unicron anime trilogy. (Galaxy Force in JP) I have a heap of toys from this line, all in the effort to collect all the planet keys, and yes, I do have the Transformers god Primus, and all four planet keys. I have the Optimus and Megatron from this line as well. Ever since then, I found I have perhaps too many Transformers lying around, so I pretty much decided enough is enough and I probably won't collect any more. I got the 10th anniversary issue of the Beast Wars Optimus and Megatron, as I originally did not have these toys and always wanted them. I also got the toy for the movie Optimus, even though I did not see the movie, and I agree, I think the designs are too jumbled, but make for the most complicated toy I've ever seen for them. I got it simply for that. So, I feel that the toys have actually gotten better over time, although the cartoons still are the same thing over and over.

Well yeah a bit of a complicated design is good it makes you think as well I never read the instructions. XD And yeah megatron dragon was beyond epic. I still have that 10 in one from Robot Wars no wait that was galvatron. The red one from the transmetal beast wars series is and always will be my favorite. Besides the machine war optimus I pointed to before.

The recent designs win for the most part. More articulation, better transformations, etc. There are a few exceptions, such as Soundwave, who, in 25 years, only has two figures that are compatible with the cassettes--his main gimmick in the original cartoon and most other fiction. Still, the movie toyline suffered a bit; the only toy I'm happy with I got from that line is Wreckage. Animated, by contrast, is great; the only toy I'm unhappy with is Sentinel Prime. Limited articulation/transformation is forgivable if the toy is undeniably fun, as with some Armada toys like Cyclonus and Sideways.

In terms of fiction: the Animated cartoon is practically the greatest thing ever, a close second to the awesomeness that was Beast Wars. Beast Machines was well-written, but just too heavy, especially after Beast Wars. The movie left me cold, although the IDW comics were pretty awesome. ROTF is going to suck, too, although I think the DS game will be good, especially if it improves on the old one. In the meantime, we have the Japanese-written series of Armada, Energon, and Cybertron. I never watched them, but I understand that the first two were... not that great. There's also RID, which I don't remember much of. Well written, but too human centric.

So, in the end? The later lines are largely better. Transformers is continually reinventing itself, continually finding out what works and what doesn't. It's growing and evolving, and it keeps getting better. Now, if only Michael Bay could stop using it to make fun of black people. (Yes, I'm still hung up on that.)

I kinda get what you mean. I liked it when it was more simplistic and colorful but then it was too just I dunno for kids. Now with the movie line things look more realistic and for teens. I mean look at the new soundwave
rotf-deluxe-soundwave-robot.jpg

This and some more are good for me just the others I dunno they look to fragile.

Thank you. Now I can identify exactly why I don't like BM. It was way too heavy for its own good. (But I did love Nightscream, though. Don't ask.)

I've been a Transfan since the '80s. Yes, I do have a place in my heart for the more simplistic designs, but I have to admit I adore the newer lines. It's really nice to have a Bumblebee that looks like its Animated counterpart. You really didn't get that sort of accuracy "back in the day".

Fiction wise, I'm not horribly picky. I enjoy most of it, save BM and the first two parts of the Unicron Triology. And Primus help me, if there's a midnight showing of ROTF I'll be there, clutching my Slumblebee. Yes, I know-- I am pathetic. You don't have to remind me. :sweatlol:

The first two parts of the Unicron Trilogy wasn't exactly all that great yes I agree but the toyline is one of my favorites. But Cybertron blows Energon out of the water. It had action it had planet jumping and my god Starscream went totally nuts and decided to be mr I will take over the universe.

Yeah. Beast Wars, while it had continuity and its share of heartbreaking moments (along with humor that goes over the target audience's head; "Find any interesting new... positions?"), was pretty fun overall. Then you get to BM, where Optimus is a foam-mouthed zealot, Cheetor keeps taking over ("we process Energon--PERIOD!"), Rattrap becomes a geek (seriously, what?) and the enemy faction consists of several million to the Maximal's four (five and six later on). Not to mention the evil Rhinox. Pretty depressing, overall. It's too bad, because it was well-written and had a good plot. It was just too much of a break from BW, and too dark and heavy.

Man, I wish I had been alive back then. Mostly so I wouldn't have to buy the cassettes for $50 a pop.

Don't pretend you're the only one. I'm quite confident ROTF will suck at least as much as the first one did, yet I'm going anyway. Probably the first few nights it's showing.

Actually, that Soundwave looks like an absolute mess to me. I mean, look at all those panels! You could arrange them just about anyway you want, making him a quintuple or whatever changer in the process. Soundwave's always been my favorite character, but I think the ROTF one may be the first I pass up. Unless they come out with a good Earth-mode toy that interacts with Ravage. Animated Soundwave, by contrast, is awesome. I wish they'd hurry up and release Ratbat already.

...wow. I talk way too much.
