who owns which horse?

Jack and Joe each owned a horse, but they couldn't decide which belonged to whom. They cut the mane off one horse so they could tell them apart, but it soon grew back. Next, they cut the tail off one, but that also grew back. They were at a complete loss as to what to do. Finally, in desperation, they measured the two horses and found that the black one was four inches taller than the white one.

The question is in the title.

The horses are black and white? ... hmm.

That said I want the black one paired with Joe and the white one with Jack.
But that doesn't explain how... oh wait
 
Uh...it was a joke. They couldn't tell the horses apart, despite them being different colors.
 
You guys really need to go out and get a sense of humor.
 
I have a sense of humour, I'm just a ditz sometimes and didn't realize the joke....XD
 
God I feel special being almost the only person who got it on the first time through.
