We all know about the Snowball scene in XYZ, but what I like to know is who do you guys think was more in the right there? For me its Ash while yes he was being a bit of a jerk, but that doesn't change that Serena really didn't understand why Ash was sad. It wasn't because he lost it was because he failed his pokemon, he was so focused on winning that he lost his way and the reason he was a trainer in the first place.

Serena was right to flip out at Ash. Ash wasn't in the right mindset and he was determined to win but that had an awful impact on his battling style. He was shutting his friends out which is not good to do even if you're angry. He deserved to lose and he shouldn't have shouted at Serena who was only trying to help him to win the rematch and to calm him down.

Oh don't get me wrong I get why Serena was mad at Ash, but I still don't think she know why he was upset. And I saw that when Serena tried compare her first showcase lost to Ash's 8th gym lost.

Serena was trying to reach out to Ash, but I don't think she really understood the problem either. She tried to compare it to when she lost in a Pokemon Showcase. While that was an understandable approach, Ash's situation was pretty different from what Serena went through. Not to mention Pokemon Showcases never came off as particularly challenging or a major accomplishment to me, despite XY frequently trying to present them as such. Winning three Princess keys is far easier than winning eight Gym badges.

Ash shouting back at Serena and trying to isolate himself weren't really the best reactions either, but Serena just stormed off, wanting Ash to go back to the Ash she admires instead of trying to better understand him. That did give Ash a major wake up call, which he needed in order to understand why he messed up so badly during that Gym battle and it eventually led to Ash realizing what he had forgotten all this time, but I think Serena could handled the situation a bit better. I'm not sure if I'd say if this was a right/wrong kind of situation, but more like both of them could have had better reactions to each other during that scene.

I have to agree with this. It was nice of Serena to try to talk to Ash, but the whole Showcase / Gym Battle comparison may have had some holes in it. First I should say, I like Serena and am glad she found a goal (no matter how long it took) but Pokemon Showcases are more like popularity contest. Don't get me wrong, effort and knowledge in certain areas are still a requirement, but it never struck me as being quite as nerve racking as gym battles or even pokemon contest. Battles require strategy, thinking on your toes, analysis. The works. Gym leaders really give it their all and if the challenger loses their pokemon can be injured badly (albeit temporary) and that can definitely put some weight on a trainers shoulders. Makes them feel like they failed their pokemon. Also, Serena should understand that Ash while generally a nice guy, is by no means perfect.

And as for Ash. He could've just asked Serena to please leave him alone instead of yelling. I get why she got mad also. If he said something along the lines of "You saw what happened, Greninja got hurt because I wasn't strong enough!" maybe Ash and Serena would've been on more equal ground, but whatever. It's like you said, both could've handled the situation better. I'm just glad they made up and Ash bounced back like he always does.

Well on the one hand they were both being pretty immature but on the other they elementary school kids. It's to be expected.

Ash was out of path, but Serena guided, her,I prefer she was right.she just make ash realise it seem's great
