Cavemen or Astronauts?

Neither have weapons.

A cookie to anyone who gets where this came from.

Depends on the playing field. It always depends on the playing field.

If it's the home field of the cavemen, a.k.a. somewhere earthbound, I'd say the cavemen have the upper hand, since the astronauts are weighted down by their suits, which may offer protection but, I believe, very little in comparison to how much they will hinder the astronauts' movements.

If it's the home field of the astronauts, a.k.a. a space shuttle, unless the cavemen manage to break something vital to the shuttle's operations and kill them all, the astronauts only have to get the cavemen out of the shuttle and the cavemen are space dust.

Surely the first thing Cavemen would do in a space-shuttle is destroy everything out of confusion or destructo-lust?

How would the astronauts kill the cavemen? Slap them to death with their huge padded suits?

Likewise, how could cavemen with clubs and sharp rocks kill guys in huge padded suits?

If they have no weapons, what's the most that a caveman can do to a space shuttle? Cavemen may have been very physically fit, but they relied on tools to survive. Besides, the notion that a caveman's first reaction would be to destroy is purely a fabrication, I believe, spawned from countless comedies of people going back in time and having their time machine smashed by brainless ogres that is the comedic representation of the caveman. Just by the fact that they could craft tools to a certain design - something that requires thought and care - we can infer that they would not respond with destruction in confusion. In fact, they might just boggle at what was around them, which the astronaut could use to their advantage in getting them off the ship. (And that's before the anti-gravity factors in, which the astronaut knows how to move about in, and the caveman does not!)

Without that advantage, though, astronauts really have nothing to use against the cavemen, do they? Put them earthbound, give them a reason to fight, and I bet the cavemen could do plenty of damage despite the padding provided by the astronauts' suits.

I can't really say. Cavemen have the advantage of hunting instinct. They are more aggressive, but astronauts normally come out of the military anyway, only they aren't trained in physical combat, are they? The astronaut, however, has the advantage of a much more complex mind capable of figuring out a way to outsmart the caveman. Granted, cavemen are pretty clever, and may be as resourceful as we are, but I very much doubt they know strategy as well as we do. Yeah, it would greatly depend on what kind of field it is. In the wild, cavemen could probably use the terrain and surroundings to their advantage better than we can even imagine. In an urban setting, cavemen would probably be too confused to stand a chance. It's not an exact brains over brawn sort of thing, because both have both, only in different proportions. Also, I'm not sure which kind of caveman you are referring to. I assumed you meant Homo sapiens, but it could've also been Homo neanderthalensis (Neanderthals), in which case, I don't think neanderthals were quite as clever as we are.

Sorry, but austonauts are much more trained. As someone said, they are from the militry. Basic hand-to-hand combat training, anyone? Martial arts? Remember: Austronauts are the best people a nation has, in terms of physical and metal fitness.
...
If I was an astronaut and had to fight on Earth, I'd probably want to take off my suit.
Unless there's some trick here, this is a pretty stupid question. :P
