There has been talk about how these characters have either lost their luster or are pretty much useless in the series.

I mean as far as Brock goes the only reason I think that he is staying is to explain how Ash and Dawn get food. I know that might not be a good reason for some, but to me it seems to one of the most primary reasons. He has been training to be a breeder for years and has the goal of being the best in the world, but really what does it take to be a breeder? Brock has proven time after time that he knows more and is better than some people that actually claim to be breeders am I the only one to notice this?

His character has all but been written out of the series. If you take away his flirting with every pretty girl then he would have as many lines as Franklin from the Charlie Brown cartoon. Then his suffering from Poison Jab stops his advances cold. I mean I personally like Brock since he was in the show since the start (minus Orange Islands), but they just cut his character dry. He rarely does anything anymore in the terms of battling. I mean they teach Sudowoodo Hammer Arm, but for what? It rarely uses it at all, to tell the truth I think the only time it used it was in the same episode it used it I could be wrong though. His Happiny has superpower strength and that could catch many opponents off-guard in battle, but they never use that.

He has huge powerhouses back at the Pewter Gym that could make him a real threat to most trainers since he raises them well (though his brother takes over when he leaves them at home). I think that he may end up with a Nurse Joy, but really I wouldn’t mind him getting together with Holly. If she does come to the Sinnoh league (which is unlikely), it would be a great way for Brock to split the scene. She will have become the strong trainer that would make Brock proud and finally there’s an attractive girl that is actually into Brock. Then I can see the two of them going off to become stronger together and live happily ever after…

Now TR (Jesseie/James/Meowth), this is the really big one because they have gotten on my last nerve. This is probably because I am 18 now, and I look at the series in a different light. I am sick of the tired motto, the Giovanni fantasies, the stupid robots that aren’t worth crap, having them ruin battles that we never get to see the end of, them believing themselves to be “cool, successful, the #1 team in their boss’s eyes (but only if they succeed in catching Pikachu) or bad” (to me they are just a bunch of idiots).

They could all have a great way of leaving the series because they have their own talents that could make them successful in their own way. Jessie with her contest skills that could improve with practice and catching wild Pokemon (the correct way that trainers do). I think that she could have been a better coordinator if she focused on training rather than more failed attempts at catching Pokemon. James comes from wealth (but has good reason not to go back home)…I don’t think that he is really evil just loyal to his friends. He also proved himself to be a better coordinator than Jessie in his first contest! Meowth could go to the noodle shop and become famous. I think that they will all go their separate ways of stay together in the end; James and Jessie get married or something like that with Meowth still in the group even if he finds love.

Also, the only reason they are good for the series is helping the main characters Pokemon evolve or learn a new move. James has not caught a Pokemon the entire DP series! Carnivine was just a sub for Cacena in my opinion. Jessie did the same by subbing Dustox with Yanmega, but at least made it to the GF this time. Meowth is just two-faced like when he tells Ash and the group (with Barry along) that he wants to change, but them being the idiots they are believed him. The only thing that TR does is prove how stupid the main characters are for not recognizing them even when their disguises aren’t even disguises! Like in DP 4, Meowth is clearly only wearing a coat or something and has his eyes closed how could you not see through that?!! As for Jessie, how many people do they know that has red hair that long?

I also hate the episodes where they “break up” because like Pikachu evolving…it’s never going to happen! There is a lot more to add about Brock and TR. However, I think this is more than enough to say about them.

Who do you think should leave?

I don't see Brock settling down with a girlfriend. Isn't he still a teenager?
Anyway, I voted Team Rocket. I like them, but I'd rather they leave over Brock.

Voted for Takeshi. Rocket-dan has more to give than him.

Team Rocket. While Brock's dream might come true, TR's dream will never happen.

Brock should and probably will leave at the end of DP
Then, I'd like to see the TRio continue for BW, eventually turn into "good guys" at the end of BW and then in gen 6 appear almost every ep (or even every ep if the writers insist) as friends/rivals or for short random funny scenes of them traveling at the end/start of every ep
Then gen 7 might drop them completely... I won't care much if they go
But most likely the TRio will stay forever in the same role they have now... I doubt they'd really change or leave

This is a dumb question. Team Rocket is the only reason I even care after all the crap the show had thrown at me the past four years.

Brock was 15 when he was first introduced in the series. To me Kanto, Johto and Hoenn lasted a year each and the Orange Island and Kanto BF wasn't a year during their times. I would say thats around 4 years. Not to mention it is said that it was a year between Snowpoint and Sunnyshore Gym badges for Ash so I would say that Brock is possibly 21 or so.

I think Brock is done with Ash. If he ever wants his breeding dream to ever come true, it'd be in much quicker progress than staying with Ash in my opinion.

Nether.
If it HAD to be one though, Brock. :<

I don't want either to leave, I'm being too classic.

But if I had to pick, it would be Brock. Although his breeder dream could come true, because he's always tending to the other characters' Pokemon, and meeting breeders occasionally on the road.

Really, they don't age at all? Wow, thats confusing considering the years they have been traveling. Could someone tell me where to find the director's comments on the series?

I've already said before that TR has more character development than Brock, and they have a more prominent role, too. I'm not too convinced we'll be seeing the end of either, though. The writers have been adamant about trying to show us Brock is still useful, although none of us have been convinced. As I've said many a time before, though, we are a minority. Unfortunately, what little kids think of it, I have no way of knowing. His one entertainment value is being the king of running gags. TR have long since evolved beyond their role as the antagonists. Time will tell if they can continue that, though.

This is the interview-
http://pokebeach.com/2008/07/second-pokemon-interview-with-masamitsu-hidaka-many-interesting-points

and this is the quote in question -
So, the show would probably continue the same way collect badges, travel through different regions, never age. Will Ash and Pikachu ever be replaced? No. Will they ever age? No. Will there be a 5th generation of Pokemon and will the show keep continuing? He laughed even harder and said of course. Pokemon will continue for many generations to come, and as he made it sound, probably forever.

If the writers can amplify how they create their show, I won't have problems with Takeshi, Musashi, Kojiro and Meowth to stay in 5th generation. Otherwise, if I had to pick between the 2, it's Takeshi. He has done much less compared to the AG series (Battle Frontier I would say), it's a true shame. DP is yet to be finished and this is all they can offer to the former Gym Leader?
