As you can see, the writers can't handle Brock havingmore than 3 Pokemon at a time. They don't want another Johto where only Only Onix, Crobat and Pineco got real screentime. So, to avoid that, the writers have Brock leave his Pokemon at the Pewter gym for no real reason.

Since DP looks to be a long series, it's very likely for Brock to get a new Pokemon eventually. This means that the writers will have to kick one off.
Who do you think that unfortunate Pokemon will be, when will happen, and why?

Sorry if a similar thread exists already.

Happiny evolves into Chansey and he leaves it with a trustworthy Nurse Joy, maybe even the one in Pewter City.

I'm willing to bet that once it evolves, it'll only stay a Chansey for only a few episodes and then evolve into Blissey.

Otherwise, why would they get rid of his newest member anyway?

In my opinion, nothing needs to be changed on Brock's team. Not yet anyway. There aren't any new (basic unevolved) Pokémon that are in desperate need of showcasing.

I can't imagine him leaving Croagunk to stare at his siblings all day. Brock is sort of like a father to Sudowoodo and Hapinny. I like all of his current Pokemon. This is why it's so difficult to see one of them go ;-;
I bet his next Pokemon will be from Generation 5.

I think if anyone HAS to go, it'd be Happiny, much in the manner that WPM suggested. But I definitely think we'll see Brock's team go largely unchanged for much of the series. Brock seems to be much more attached to these Pokemon than he ever seemed to be to, say, Zubat (even if it did evolve through Happiness).

I don't see him getting rid of any now, he only has 3 Pokemon and they all serve different purposes.

Croagunk is the comic relief and stops him from flirting.

Sudowoodo is the battler.

Happiny is the super strong baby Pokemon.

Brock is perfectly fine now, and for the most part I don't even think he'll make another capture for the rest of the series.

Brock only had 3 Pokemon at a time for the entire span of AG, the only difference is he replaced Ludicolo with Bonsly.

Every 256 steps, and that baby was clipped on his belt for three regions (the OI count; just 'cause he wasn't on screen didn't mean Ivy wasn't running his ass into the ground, or fighting Mimey for cleaning privileges). It was probably at max happiness before it even evolved.

I wouldn't mind Marshtomp returning for a couple episodes, bringing the count for four even temporarily, finally evolve it into a Swampert, but that's not the question. Booting anyone off his current team probably won't happen, save for the Happiny/Nurse Joy scenario. What he'd get in exchange (and by that, I meant catch/receive/whatever) might be another baby, which I would say would be Mantyke, since every other baby has been born and bred in some fashion throughout the series, either showcased or owned by recurring characters, and Mantyke's only so far been shown off in the Manaphy movie.

But on the flipside...oh just give him an east side Shellos/Gastrodon. Or Gallade. Now that's be sweet. From rocks to water to fighters.

Ive heard Rhyperior for Brock. Im not sure what coming next since its so unpredictable lately, but I think Croagunk is gonna be the one that goes with him to the Gen V region. Like Foretress.

I don't think (and I hope) that Brock doesn't take any of the current Pokemon off the active roster.

But what Brock needs are more Pokemon, not less!

Don't follow the animé very closely, but I do find it highly unlikely that the current roster will see anyone thrown out. Unless there is a Sister Joy that requires a Chansey or Blissey of course. I think the team will grow not shrink and I hope they do not limit him to three pokémon.

Guys, I think that leaving Happiny/Chansey with a random Nurse Joy won't happen because nobody gives away their Pokémon anymore, the last time that happened was sometime in mid-Jotho.

Anyway, starting from Advanced generation, it seems that the Pokémon that gets left at his family's gym are the ones that receive the most showcasing.

However, in DP, that one Pokémon is Croagunk, which has now become Brock's "star" Pokémon (in much the same way that Pikachu and Piplup are Ash and Dawn's). So it's unlikely that he'll be left behind anytime soon.

I cant see crogaunk leaving. For a while I thought the reason it stopped brock flirting and it registered so high on happiess meter on pokeradar was that it was in love with brock, but, dunno.

Anyway, I too think Brock needs more pokemon, not less

Personally, I see sudowoodo leaving first from Brock's team. Croagunk is Brock's Pikachu/Piplup, and Happiny is the new Baby with a gimmick this time. Sudowoodo lost a bit of personality after it's evolution, and unless we get a GS remake there isn't a real commercial reason to keep him.

I think he needs one more before he should loose any as well, but if one had to go, I'd pick the gen 2 guy.

(Also how it could be done? Sudowoodo falls in love with another pokemon and leaves Brock. It was close to happening before I believe)

We just had that plot, so I don't think the writers are going to use that one again so soon. Though I do agree if anyone will go it'll be him, but I can't see anyone losing a Pokemon until the end of the series or a filler season.

Usocky. Because its time is over. Its the "oldest" of Takeshi's current Pokemon, so it's an obvious candidate for leaving. It's already got its time, now it'll leave.

Brock has actually never released any of his Pokemon. He gave Vulpix back to Suzie but he still has everything else.

I don't see where your 'he can only have 3 Pokemon' basis is coming from. I also don't see why he needs a roster change any time soon.

Because he barely does anything with the Pokemon he does have. What's the point of giving him more when he does nothing with the ones he has?
