I couldn't find one of these threads, so if one already exists, shut her down!

Anyway, we've gotten a lot of rivals throughout the years so which is your favorite?

I went off of Bulbapedia's list of:
Blue (Kanto)
Silver (Johto)
Wally (Hoenn)
Brendan/May (Hoenn)
Barry (Sinnoh)

My personal favorites are Silver because we see the change from a jerkwad to an almost decent guy.

Blue - he was actually a threat AND had importance to the story (a lot of them only have one, or the other). While Silver has been the most story-orientated rival, he wasn't a threat at all.

List of Biggest Threats:
Blue (Champion in 2 Gens, and Gym Leader in 2...plus regular rival 0.0)
Barry (Say hello to his final rematch team)

Silver (I found Wally's final battle FAR more challenging than Silver's)

Silver, because he has the most interesting story IMO. I like that he has sort of a "dark" past, which makes him a more complicated character.
 
I can't decide between Jun and Silver :(! So I voted both xD
Jun is totally hillarious and he was totally cafeinnized xD He makes me laugh so much xDU. But Silver...is Silver :(! He's the most interesting rival without any doubt, and I've always like bad guys as rivals :(

1-Silver/Jun (I can't decide :(! I like both for equal :) )
2-Gary (just amazing!! <3)
3-Wally (Damn this boy is cute <33 I really like his story and his improvement =D)
4-Brendan (Typical professor's son :( and furthermore he has not interesting story :( just bored)
 
I like Wally the best.


Silver I don't like. He seems like an angsty teen trying to be rebellious for cool points.
 
Blue is the best, i played Yellow back when i allways watched the anime, and thought it was gary, so i was like "Wow! i'm gonna be just like ash and beat Gary all the time! this is the greatest!" in hindsight, Silver has a better story, but nothing can beat that feeling when i beat gary and was like "YEA! I'm gonna be a pokemon master!"
 
It's sorta like a tiw between Blue and Silver...Blue was tough plus he says stuff that makes you wanna strangle him and Silver has a whole backstory with the whole learning to train pokemon with respect type deal
 
Really tough decision between Silver and Blue. I don't much care for the others. Also, why is Brendan/May in this list and not Lucas/Dawn?
 
Silver and Blue. They actually both did something in the story - Blue became Champion, Silver had a character transformation, and is the son of Giovanni.

I also liked how both Blue and Silver were like antagonists, whereas the others were just nice the whole time.

Maybe it's because you never really had rivalry with them...plus you never fought against them
 
i voted for barry, wally, and silver, because i couldn't make up my mind :( it's kinda funny, because i never really gave any of them much of a second thought at first (hell, i made it a rule to call silver "butthead" in every playthrough of G/S/C, hahaha), but now they're all my favorites.
 
I got 10 times more respect for Silver when he tracked me down at Mt. Moon. I had a team of pokemon in the low, say, 10s for training against wilds and then he comes and kicks my Awesome-Pokemon-In-Training out the door.

Still haven't worked up the guts to try again after that manslaughter. I have a mix of respect and hate boiling for that guy.

And it was one-hit-city from there.

That's a very hard choice.

Silver
I like his new hairstyleHe just gave off that 'I'm a badass, don't mess with me' kind of vibe and I like that in a rival. Plus, his battle music is awesome.

Well...I like their designs. I guess I liked them because it was a break from the mean rivals. And I, for one, had a hard time trying to defeat them.

What can I say? I'm such a Sinnoh fan-tard! ;D I like his spazzy, impatient, obnoxious attitude. Plus, he's funny.

yea, but he's the only one with a storyline, the others are all just "Weve been rivals since birth! fight me!" He has a past, not just the copy paste backstory with some personality
 
Wally: Because he was one of those trainers who while trying to be able to beat you, wasn't always in your face and being a jerk. Plus he has a nice role in the game.

Silver: I'm starting to like him a bit, but the reason being because of his easiness. I mean he thinks he's all that but you always whoop his butt and show him up, yet he continues to think he's good. Really to me, he's comic relief.

Brandon: I really just like his friendly personality and his outfit. Plus his hat is awesome.
