Why are green shiny Pokemon hated?

While there are some bad ones, Crustle, Bruxish, and even Espeon all look really good, and shiny Crustle is arguably Gen 5’s best shiny. Why is there a universal stigma on green and not, say, yellow, a color with many bad shinies as well (cough cough Luxray cough Ninjask cough Xatu)?
So, what’s your favorite green shiny, why is green the most hated shiny color, and what has the worst shiny that isn’t green?

Eh, for me I just don't like most shiny Pokemon since I find majority of them ugly in coloring anyway. There are very few shiny Pokemon I like, Umbreon and Buneary/Lopunny for example I do like.

But to answer your three questions:
1. I don't have a favorite green shiny
2. Can't speak for other people, but I don't find the green coloring on shinies flattering
3. Like I said I find most shinies ugly anyway, but yellow shinies are just as un-flattering imo

Speaking for myself, I dislike green shinies because I don't see the color green complimenting well with any Pokemon of that shiny coloration. The ones that I do like already had a bit of green in them to begin with (Snivy-line, Tropius, Flygon). Either they are a toxic-waste looking bright green (like Ursaring and Tauros) or a hideous sickly shade of green that looks to have been mixed in with a shade of another color (like Onix and Mamoswine). The only ones that probably look good in green are the Machop-line, and that's only because they bring to mind the Hulk. Crustle looks good because green isn't the primary color sticking out and it compliments well with its earth tones.

I guess people don't razz on yellow-colored shinies too much because, most of the time, their colors compliment the Pokemon. Luxray looks good with the yellow and black colors. So do Groudon, Chandelure, and Volcarona. Not all Pokemon look good in yellow. I think shiny Mismagius and Lucario look disgusting. I also find some colors to be fine but mishmashed terribly, creating a mess of colors like what is seen with the Litten-line and Krookodile. Then you have the worst shinies of them all; the ones that are one shade lighter or darker than the original coloration.

When it comes to shiny variations, it just depends on what the Pokemon's original color was and how the shiny variation compliments it. That's what makes a shiny look nice or ugly to me.

For some people I know green shinies mean a lack of effort or consideration for the Pokemon that have them. Most of the first shiny Pokemon were created by shifting their palette a few colors. For many Pokemon this meant they became green. A lot of the blue Pokemon actually became pink for the same reason.

Honestly, green is just a color that usually has unpleasant associations with it. Vomit, things that have bad odors, snot/mucus, being sick in general, occasionally poison (not so much in this franchise); so I think people just don't care much for these neon green ass shinies because it just makes them look unpleasing.

Frankly speaking, it seems like regular green Pokemon are fine like Grass-types and Flygon, but Shiny green Pokemon just have the worst shades picked for them like GF wants them to look "gross". Not saying I dislike them all, but that's just what I see most rants about green shinies boil down to.

i think the reason why people hate green shinies is because they appear to be lazily designed

meanwhile my favorite green shiny is zubat

I don't think it's the fact that they're green, I think it's the fact that many green shinies don't really fit the colour (such as Cubone and Fearow). A lot of them also have a bad shade of green, often mixed with colours that don't go well with it.

The ones that do fit green, though, wear it really well (Espeon, Flygon, Spinda, among others).

My favourite green shiny is Masquerain, because it looks like a watermelon.

I agree with the above comments. Green for a shiny color is largely disliked because it not only seems lazy but also is rather repulsive on Mons that the color shouldn't be associated with. Some Mons look fine with it as a shiny color (like Zubat and Masquerain, for example), others look rather, well, almost like they're diseased or pulsating with nuclear radiation or something like that. Green just doesn't fit certain Mons as well as others. In terms of, say, yellow, it doesn't get much gripe because most of the time it actually fits the nature of the Mon, like Luxray, which looks killer in yellow and black, and is an Electric type, which is often associated with yellow. However, a lot of the time, shiny colors can actually be rather bad, usually because they are a bad shade, don't fit the part, or are just a plain eyesore, like Mudkip and Geodude. But green gets the worst of it because it doesn't fit well with many different Mons. The ones that do have a natural green color or do have decent shiny forms tend to wear it well, but shiny green tends to come in a variety of bad shades and choices, and seems lazy in some cases, so that's probably why green gets hated more than other colors.

Now, to answer your last question, my favorite green shiny is Zubat (and it should be at this point, given that I've caught nearly 20 shiny Zubats over my various gaming adventures). I prefer to leave Zubat alone with its shiny color as the pinkish shiny Crobat is off-putting to me.

I believe this is mostly because they tend to be an unpleasant shade of green (Dragonite, Poliwrath, Nidoqueen and Hydreigon come to mind). There are a few ones that are actually nice, though, like Druddigon, Salamence, Swellow, and even Fearow. Actually, I dislike blue Pokemon that are purple or pink in their shiny forms much more than the green ones-Sneasel line, Blastoise, Kingdra, Lapras, Kyogre and Vaporeon are really off-putting to me.

I mostly agree with the above posters. Also the fact that I hate neon green as a colour dosen't help that :p

My favourite green shiny is Rowlet.

I agree with what pretty much everyone else said, it depends on the shade of green and whether or not it fits the pokemon.

After looking at shiny green pokemon I think my favorite is Weezing because I think the bluish-green looks nice and it also fits with the poison type. I also think a lot of the green grass-type shinies look good, like Serperior, Venusaur, Hoppip, Turtwig, and Rowlet.
