Why did the creators create the evolutions for Porygon, knowing they have a 1 out of a million chances they will be seen in the anime? What is the point of showing them in one place, and not the other? Plus, it is not like anime fans don't play the games...

The anime's only one of the three major cornerstones of the franchise (four if you count manga). Just because the anime avoids Porygon2 and Porygon-Z doesn't mean they shouldn't exist.

Because the anime's only one facet of the money-making juggernaut that is the Pokémon Franchise.

Also, a part of Porygon's gimmick is that it's like technology in that it gets "upgraded". It's similar to real evolution in a sense.

Besides, once a Pokémon is released to the public. It's never erased. It'll always be found and talked about somewhere in the fandom and shown in the media somewhere. Because every Pokémon has it's fans.

Even Unown, for all its worthlessness? Or something as mediocre as the Burmy line?

I doubt what happens to the anime really affects Gamefreak in any way, remember they are two separate entities.

Pokémon aren't created for the sole purpose of being showcased in the anime. Plus, I don't think the Porygon line will never be in the anime, they just haven't written any computer related stories again.

Because the creators of Pokémon don't create them with the intent on being seen in the anime? Why do they create any Pokémon when most of them have the same odds of appearing in the anime aswell?

They are shown in nearly every other medium except the anime because of the seizure controversy

Plus, it is not like anime fans don't play the games...

Hence why the creators made the other evolutions, because people play the games, and maybe you know, wanted to see the concept expanded?

I am an Unown fan :p

I posted this in another thread. Here you go:

After all, it was Pikachu's Thunderbolt that set off the seizures, not Porygon.
That is exactly why Porygon (along with Porygon2 and Porygon-Z for that matter) could use another episode. This is D/P/P after all. The writers still think it was Porygon itself that set off the seizures.

It's not so much the seizure scare as it's the anime not doing very many technology based stories.

Pikachu can't be written out of the show, and the title and focus of the episode stand out more than what actually happened.

Pikachu cannot be written out of the Pokémon anime because it is one of the "mascots" (Piplup is also IIRC).

What I (or Matkin22) meant when I posted that was that when Pikachu used Thunderbolt, it was in virtual reality, Porygon's "home" of sorts, hence the seizures; someone please clarify this for me.
