Why did my eeevee evolve on its own

whilst playing red, i leveled and eevee to 11 and it just evolved into jolteon! any explanations?

I've had problems with that game also... My pokemon nicknaming themselves , pokemon vanishing etc.

I've...never heard of anything like that happening on a legit game.
Do you use a gameshark or action replay? Because I remember my character renaming herself from 'MELLIE' to 'MELáIE' after an overdose of gameshark codes.

Did you by any chance have a Growlithe in the second spot on your team?

You could of always traded one over from GSC.. unlikely, but it's a way to get a level 5-24 Eevee without cheating on RBY.

it was an eevee i traded in from silver, and actually come to think of it i did have a growlith! wheter or not it was second slot or not i dont know.
