The only reason i bring this up is because when i talk to my friends about an anime they all say the anime sucks compared to the manga when there the same except the manga or anime may or may not add or take away something. So if you have a sugestion on why this is post.

It depends on the series, really.

It could be because in most cases the manga came first, which means it *must* be better for the same reason dubs can never be as good at the Japanese track [/sarcasm], but they fail to take into account that in some cases things can be *improved*.

I guess as for the most part, Manga's are usually consisten in art, and have less filler material.

But like BJ said, it depends on the series. I for one love the Gintama Anime more then the manga, but the Reborn! anime is worse off then the manga.

Same is equivocally true with books/comic and American cartoons/TV shows/movies. Sometimes it's just a matter of personal preference. Sometimes it's a matter of things being cut from the source material to fit the time constraints of television. Sometimes it's a matter of being able to do more (in ways other than time) in written material. Different factors play into what gets published and what gets aired on television.

Oh, and also consider a manga comes right from the artist's mind while the anime is merely adapted from it.

I've noticed generally fans hail Anime that proceeded the manga, and manga that proceeds an Anime.

But what if they had a reason to say that, that they can state and prove thats ether really well thought out or really vegg and the person doesn't even like the anime or manga.

Yeah, I think that is true also, but there are other things such as censorship. For some reason (in both America and Japan) censorship is more lax on printed work than on video. One example is that in the Bobobo cartoon, one of the first eppisodes had the guy with the duck underpants on his head in the Anime, but in the comic he is wearing them as underwear. It was probably too sexually perverted to put on Japanese TV at that time slot so it was changed.

As for why I like it more... I don't know, it's generally the timing I like more. Some things like that just can't translate to animation (Just like Smooth Action scenes don't translate well in comics).

However, yeah, generally I like reading Manga more than Anime... I'm not too sure why but I do. I could say it's because I can put a book in my pocket and take it with me, but that's not entirely true because I can put whole episodes on my MP3 player and watch. (I just don't though, and then still feel like I don't have time to watch most Anime anymore)

BoBoBo also had less references in the Anime, such as things like Yami Yugi popping out of his head since I believe the laws of copyright are different for Manga compared to anime.

Well if the manga usually comes first, it tends to have the more detailed and original material. MOST anime adapted from manga tend to be just OVAs and really short. They tend to leave out small, but important, things from the anime.

Example: The Fruits Basket anime has been liked and convinced people to read the manga, but many who read the manga first generally disliked how it was "softened" a bit and changed certain character storylines and skipped over something very important to understand the plot. Even the creator of the manga shown a bit of disapproval with constant word of saying "No, there will be no 2nd season."

There are and have been cases were the manga adapts from the anime...and in those cases, they tend to be eh...

Example: One I know of it Princess Tutu. The manga came after and from what I know it omitted a very important character and half of the important symbolism and storyline seen in the anime.

So pretty much it's a whole what came first and what content is handled better rule.

There's also the series where the two media are apples and oranges, like Fullmetal Alchemist and Excel Saga. Their mangas are ongoing while their animes are complete, and tell a much different story.

And Inuyasha, lol

Urgh, I forgot about that, most Manga based off of Anime is horrible, mainly because they are only running while the TV show is on (or movie in theaters), so they are horribly short and unorganized/bad paced, and often barely even relate to the series. Things like Cowboy Bebop come to mind.

I often feel that the Pokémon manga, especially the Pokémon Special manga, had deeper, more mature themes and have more drama within it; compared to the anime's mostly filler and "toned-down-for-young-children" storylines, it is easy to see why some prefer the manga over the anime.

Personally, I would like to see them turn the Pokémon Special manga into an anime series.

Oh yeah. Pokemon Special. Now that's another thing. It's a spin-off of the franchise and is not really an actual adaptation of the ...show/game storyline.

I prefer manga over anime because anime always seems too dragged out.

I have just started reading mangas, so I don't have a big say in this conversation. But when I was reading Inuyasha volume 3, the Noh Mask story caught my eye. I saw this episode before reading the manga, and I thought it was ok, but when I read the Noh Mask story, it was completly different. Sure, the part with Inuyasha and the bolder was pretty much the same, but the whole Noh mask was different. Different story, different design, DIFFERENT. Now I would have loved to seen the manga version of the Noh Mask story then the one they showed.

When you read manga you get to imagine the setting and sounds. It’s also easy to concentrate on the parts you like more. (I don’t know how to say this well ^^;;)in anime adapted from manga you are watching something that has been interpreted by some one else rather than the original story unaltered. its always always better to first see the original manga/anime before its adapted to something (something I've always done since I found out what happened to the anime of Berserk, FMA and violinist of Hamelin ;_; )

So manga: no fillers! More content! Better art (usually)
Anime: sound! Music! Colors! Movement! Gets more merchandise!

Usually, people prefer the manga over the anime (assuming the manga did infact come first.) because it is the original story. Anime adaptations are usually simply compressed versions of the manga that they need to fit within a certain number of episodes. As a result, quite a bit of the manga is either completely removed or mashed together so that they can fit it into 26 episodes.

As someone pointed out earlier, there's also the fact that some anime end up telling completely different stories than the original manga. Take for example .hack//LEGEND OF THE TWILIGHT. The anime more or less followed the manga's storyline for the first few episodes, but then it went in a completely separate direction, and had a totally different ending.
