Why do you think Wobbufett never left Jessie's roster?

When I actually stop to think about it, I'm amazed Wobbufett is still in the show.

For a Pokemon that was around from early Johto, all the way through AG and now DP, its really something.

You might argue its a mascot, but not really so much anymore, and we've had mascot Pokemon come and go before, (Togepi, Marrill, Munchlax, etc), yet Wobbufett remains.

The writers don't even showcase Wobbufett much anymore, and there are also a lot of motto's where we don't see it come out.

Is anyone else amazed Wobbufett is still around?

Quite frankly, I am.
My guess is that the writers feel that he's become a staple of TR--a fourth member, if you will. Even if he gets a lot less spotlight now, I doubt the writers will get rid of him. If they do, especially now in the D/P era, I won't be too surprised considering how it's pretty much been dubbed unpredictable.

Sonansu is just... they can't replace it! :-p I love it too much! Mascot shmascot, it's clearly just still here because it's awesome!

Sonansu gets still screentime in commercials. And it's with Nyasu in the ANA shorts, along with Manene. It's a mascot along Pikachu, Pochama and Nyasum and most importantly, funny to the kids. :P

It's sure as heck isn't going anywhere with HGSS just around the corner. Depending on long the writers have known about it, they may have kept it in DP solely for that reason.

I hope they don't get rid of Wobbuffet. That's about all I can say. Now I'm going to be paranoid of when it'll happen. It didn't really cross my mind before.

Same. I mean, why the hell would they replace it. It's hardly taking up a battling slot, is it?! :-p

Sonansu is ridiculously popular with all the elementary school kids I've talked to with here in Japan. So that's probably a huge reason right there.

^Agreed. I think it's pretty cool that it's still there, even with limited screen time.

I think it’s funny. I remember playing Gold/Silver and thinking of Wobbufett as a “weird gimmicky Pokémon”. Then when it became a part of Jessie’s team it became this big comic relief Pokémon and even got its own baby pre-evolution in Gen III (Wynaut).

The thing that I find funny is that most of the time Wobbufett tends to wears the worse disguise out of the TR group and yet no one wonders why there is a strange blue guy wearing sunglasses or a it only wearing a fishing hat.

Even though Wobbuffet may not appear as often as before, it still is a part of TR and it just wouldn't be right to not see it with the group.

Team Rocket without Wobbuffet would just not be right. Wobby rarely (in comparison to Johto and AG) appearing any more is sad, but his leaving would be downright depressing.

I'm still waiting for an episode where Wobbuffet falls in loved with a female Wobbuffet with lipstick, causing hilarity to ensue.

Ha ha, I kept wondering the same myself. It's been there for quite a while. I guess it's because it doesn't really do much other than coming out once in a while going "Wobbuffett!" So the writers doesn't really have to do much for it to keep it in the anime this entire time without having to worrying about the character getting stale. I guess it's kind of like the Brock of Team Rocket? It just keeps doing the same little thing over and over, but not big and significant enough to annoy people?

he's sorta like Meowth's right hand man... er, mon.
