Why does everyone hate the writers so much?

I don't understand i think their doing a good job with the series why is their so much hate?

By and large, it seems to be because they're not telling the story the old fans would like them to write.

It's like how people wrote hate mail and threats to JK Rowling telling her she didn't know the characters because she GASP had the nerves not to pair Harry and Hermione.

I hardly think that's a good analogy, but your point is made. I honestly don't think some of it is the writers' fault, but rather the marketing people or whoever it is that dictates how this is written. Of course, none of us can say much about that, either. They could decide to be inane sugar coated happiness sprinkles acted out with puppets as far as that goes. Ultimately, does it serve it's purpose? It is entertainment and advertisement, so I'd say yes, it does. Nothing else matters. However, I am still going to voice my opinion that it's a load of tripe. I don't really care if it doesn't matter.

Its because the writers don't do things the way people like, for example: Ash reverting in DP. I don't think most truly understand that what may not appeal here appeals in Japan where the show is created,I find that they are doing an amazing job as well. While some things could be improved they are small.

I have nothing against them really. Just some of the choices they've made. The main thing I don't approve of is the never mentioning of past friends. There's no good reason for them to be just ignored for years and years. As seen with the most recent episode, Brock only got mentioned because of Dawn visiting. And even though Ash always phones Professor Oak, Tracey hasn't appeared in the anime itself since 2006 even though he lives with him. But yeah, I still don't hate them. Personally the Best Wishes series is my favorite so far as a whole and it seems to be the most hated around here.

Because they are bad.

What an amazingly enlightening answer. We all wish we could accurately evaluate other people's talent like you.

Because. The story isn't being told how the vocal majority wants it to, and if you're not in the vocal majority. You're insignificant and don't matter. So, that automatically means the writers should be disliked for "reverting Ash to his Kanto self" despite the fact Ash has shown strategy in battle numerous times. I mean come on! Did people not watch Krokorok vs. Beartic? >___>

People want on-screen training too, when BW doesn't do that often.

I thought so, too. It channels how amazingly enlightening and engaging their writing is pretty well.

Oh, it is a perfect demonstration of the depths of your understanding of talent and the creative process. Truly, you are unmatched.

I'm glad you think so, tbh. It's nice to see people who comprehend how shit the writers have been making BW so far. :shy:

If anyone here believes they are in any way a "majority", they need to learn what the fandom really consists of beyond the Internet and our relatively insignificant forums.

But the writers owe their lives, souls, and continued employment to the forum fans! Get on with the program, Samurott!

I think its because of every few good things the writers do, something else takes a step backwards.

The difference is now the show has been running for 15 years. You'd think after doing the same story for 5 generations in a row they would have worked out all the kinks.

You'd think after seeing repeated kinks all over for 15 years, people would realize the writers don't see them as kinks.

Amazing, the things one can figure wrong.

But they are different "kinks."

What we are complaining about now is not the same things we were complaining about during Johto around 12 years ago. As I said, each saga has different flaws that the others don't have and are unique to it. The people who didn't like DP like BW for example, while others who really liked DP don't care for BW.

As an old school Pokemon fan I will never forget the fandom backlash toward Johto back in 2001 right after Ash let Charizard go. I remember everyone gave up on Johto right after the 3rd movie came out.

A fandom backlash of people giving up in drove in summer 2001? That's not how *I* remember it.

Besides which, blaming the backlash on Charizard's burning ambition when there's a six months gap between when you say the backlash happened and when that episode aired doesn't make much sense.

I think the fact that the Johto movies bombed in theaters and somewhere around early 2002 is where the original fad of Pokemon died says a lot in itself.

Sad, really. When Johto first started everyone was happy that Brock was back and the writers reunited the original trio dropping Tracey. When Johto began we thought it was actually going to be just as good or better than the original Kanto was.

Oh god how wrong we were. How wrong we were.

Dude, early 2002 is a year after Charizard's Burning Ambition aired.

Now there WAS a backlash in very late 2001/early 2002.

But it was about the great 20-episode-filler-gap between the Goldenrod and Ecruteak gyms and the even longer one between Ecruteak and Cianwood.

I distinctly remember right around the Goldenrod City episodes (which was the 3rd Gym), and around where the 3rd movie came out that most people realized the show had changed for the worse.

That was roughly the first season of Johto in the dub, "Johto Journies," after that first season aired everyone was wondering why it was taking Ash so long to get the next badge, why Charizard and Squirtle left, and why the GS ball was abandoned with no resolution. Many continued watching through all of Johto like I did, but it doesn't mean we enjoyed what was happening.

The only reason I watched all of Johto in its original run was because at the time I thought the show was going to end when Johto concluded. Back then there was no reason to believe the show would go on for over a decade, I had assumed Ash would beat Gary in the Johto league and become the hermit that Red was in the games. Of course now we know the reason the show changed in Johto was because Takeshi Shudo stopped controlling the series, but we didn't know that at the time.
