Why don't Sceptile, Infernape or Torterra get the Charizard treatment?

The writers continually treat Charizard like its Ash's only fully evolved starter on Ash's roster. But that is not true. He also has a Sceptile, Infernape and Torterra all of which aren't glorified and are ignored and forgotten.

Why don't the writers ever give those 3 starters the level of glory that Charizard gets? It almost feels like a waste to see pokemon that are that strong just remain ignored and forgotten like everything they did was meaningless.

It's probably because Charizard is more marketable than Sceptile, Infernape and Torterra due to being one of the first starter Pokemon. Being Ash's first fully evolved starter Pokemon probably helps too. Charizard hasn't appeared since AG, while the others appeared in DP, so there's more nostalgic value in Charizard for the older fans and the fans that have only seen DP and BW might not have been aware that Ash even had a Charizard. I don't think that just because the other three don't get that same kind of treatment doesn't mean that everything they did was meaningless. They still provided Ash with some solid progression as a trainer and even with how BW has handled his skills, I don't think that completely disregards the victories and development that the other three starters had over the course of their respective series.

Charizard has returned 6 times since leaving Ash, its now actually staying on his roster which no pokemon other than Phanpy ever did since they left, and its starring in two movies.

No other pokemon got that treatment

Like Hidden Mew said, Charizard is ORIGINAL.

-No matter how flawed the original series or trio or starters may have been or been considered, they are still original. Sceptile gets no sympathy because it took down Darkrai, something no other Pokemon at the SL accomplished.

-Infernape gets no sympathy because it had even more backstory than Charizard itself and had an actual story with an epic conclusion, so it's out.

-Torterra I can understand, but at least it's not still a Turtwig and had some type of backstory something which the Johto starters and Pokemon like Buneary, Emolga, Pachirisu, and Pansage unfortunately did not.

Because the writers don't think in terms of treating characters fairly. They think in terms of marketing and Charizard is simply much more marketable than the others. Look at Torterra, who didn't get a single win after evolving while Infernape got all the glory and an amazing backstory.

Besides the usual spiel about Charizard being one of Ash's most recognizable Pokemon and marketing and yadda yadda yadda, Infernape and Sceptile had their own sagas just a few years ago. Infernape's saga finished just a few years ago. I think it's too soon to bring him back in a starring role, especially after it had such a big role in DP.

I get a strong feeling we'll be seeing Infernape towards the end of BW, maybe Torterra too. Usually Ash's team from the previous gen comes back in the next one. There's a reason the Tobias match was filled with 3 Hoenn Pokemon, and Corphish got most of the filler with the Johto starters before the league began.

Sceptile probably won't be seen this series, but at least he went out with a blaze of glory.

I dunno.
I stopped caring about Jukain when it became Jukain. I liked it better when it was still a Juptile.
I think it's the only Pokemon Satoshi had fully evolved that I don't like.

All 3 of those pokemon were seen pretty recently. Infernape was kinda the star of DP and Sceptile just took down a Darkrai. But yea, Charizard is more popular and more marketable than all 3 of them, and he's also Ash's strongest so there's that. The fanbase clearly like seeing him

I could see that happening with Infernape and maybe Torterra. It really depends on what happens after Episode N. If there's some kind of tournament arc, then maybe I could see them appearing, but since Charizard is in the next movie, they may keep the focus on Charizard instead.

All marketing reasons aside, if we ignore the fact that Ash is still 10 and say that all that traveling and training of 15 years indeed counts as canon past events, then aside from Pikachu, Charizard is not only one of Ash's most powerful pokemon, but he also shares the most memories as one of Ash's first starter pokemon. He was the first that fully evolved, disobeyed Ash which cost him many battles - even at an important League tournament. Afterwards, Charizard participated in a league where Ash actually won (the Orange League against a friggin' Dragonite - when Dragonites were considered to be on legendary level), and participated in a league where Ash beat his first ever rival (Charizard vs Blastoise). Not to mention the Battle Frontier where he went up against Articuno - an actual legendary. No matter how glorified Infernape was, no matter how Sceptile was awesome, no matter how much Torterra was ignored, they just can't compete with Charizard when it comes to power, experience, and memories of being with Ash. They simply haven't been with Ash enough, or had enough memories with Ash - or contributed to an actual win to gain the top spot for Ash. Yes, I know there's Infernape, but he still hasn't been with Ash long enough to compete with Charizard.

Its too bad Ash didn't have a fully evolved water starter, looking back it should have been Totodile back in Johto to complete the, "one fully evolved powerhouse" from each team. But the writing of the Johto saga was poor and so Totodile was wasted and never amounted to anything.

Kanto: Charizard
Johto: ???
AG: Sceptile
DP: Infernape and Torterra
Best Wishes: Krokodile (?)

Too bad Johto failed in giving Ash a fully evolved powerhouse, but what else is new.

I feel that Lizardon, now more than ever, is nothing more than a throw back to the older fans, as a way of saying "hey, remember this guys?" but I am very excited to see the part he is going to play in this arc, and I think that the flashback episodes like the most recent one may encourage newer fans to try to go back and watch the original series, and others that they may have missed.

Lizardon was the first of Satoshi's Pokemon to fully evolve....we watched them grow and learn together, their struggles, and how they eventually came to trust and understand one another...anything similar to their story feels like a 'copy' of it to older fans because it was so iconic. The others had their stories in their respective sagas too, and comparatively it doesn't make them any more or less meaningful, and it's nice that every saga has at least one Pokemon will an involved story and such.

And, aesthetically speaking, which would you rather buy? A cool looking, fire spitting dragon thing, a giant turtle with a forest on its back, a giant leafy lizard thing, or a monkey that plays with fire????? They're doing a whole fancy Lizardon promotion thing at the Pokemon Centers in Japan, too

Charizard is one of Ash's classic Pokemon, and asides from Pikachu, probably his most well known. Whenever fans think of the Pokemon Ash owned in the first few seasons, Charizard is usually the first one to pop up in ones head.
