You'd think such a big franchise would be advertised better. Why don't they show trailer's or have giveaways like in Japan? They don't even have commercials, and it only airs in the morning.

My guess is that Pokemon isn't as big of a deal over here as it is in Japan. That, and the ones they make any sort of ad for are usually for the 7-years-and-under demographic. They won't be the types to REALLY hype over things, they just want to see things jump around, explode, and get the action figures and McDonald's toys.

Because such things are expensive to do, and the interest in the US does not justify such a monetary investment.

Because TPCi is lazy and don't really care for the anime. I mean hardly anyone watches it on CN, so why should they advertise it? And it is a Saturday morning cartoon, what other time should they air it? But they do have commercials, however it's hard to see one. My guess for that is because CN prefers to advertise their original programs over acquired shows like Pokemon. Just my 2 cents.

Because the anime is terrible for the most part and the franchise is popular enough that they don't really need to.

Other than the terrible part, this is pretty much the best answer.

They don't spend the money to advertise the show because they don't have to. The ratings are good enough that the show will be fine even without them throwing a ton of money on advertising.

Besides, it's not like airing more promos would cause any significant increase in ratings anyway.

They don't advertise the series that much on Cartoon Network due to being a third-party series. With a few exceptions, they focus most of the advertisement on their own shows because they get more money from those shows. While more ads for the series would be nice, I don't think it's really necessary, especially when it seems to be doing well for itself despite the lack of promos.

Kids already know about it being on, so they don't need reminders.

Personally, I think it's because of the president of CN hating anime, and apparently trying hard to lower ratings so he'd have an excuse to cancel it.

That last part was a rumor I heard on another forum, though, so I wouldn't know. Still don't, as I lack that channel on my cable. Which bites, as there's some shows I'd want to watch, including the upcoming Sonic Boom...but I'm just rambling, and may get in trouble for some reason for rambling.

If you're talking about Stuart Snyder, he recently resigned as president of Cartoon Network on March 6, 2014. No replacement has been announced yet.

But even when the replacement is revealed, I don't expect massive promotion for Pokémon anytime soon, unless TPCi decides to fork in money for it, which I also don't expect happening.

Well, I've heard rumors through TV Tropes that they are trying to downplay the anime's role with promoting the franchise and putting more focus on the games. Many fans grew sick of the anime long ago (blame the Newtwo film), and it's possible for the low amount of ads these days.

I would really not fully know on the lack of ads, since I'm from Australia, and I don't have access to our own Cartoon Network anymore. But in at least Australia's case, ads for the anime were also slim when we gave Foxtel up in 2011. But before the release of Black and White, there were loads of anime ads.

The one with Genesect, or the first movie?

Because pokemon anime is an advertisement for the games, and other way around.

Until the release of Black and White, most people saw the games and manga as promoting the anime, even though the games came first. There's a good reason why a lot of merchandise was anime-focused. So, lovandra is right in some ways. I'm just very glad the animated adaptation for Kingdom Hearts got cancelled when there was only one game, otherwise Pokémon wouldn't be alone
