Is it because of the filters?
Is it because Japans Air Time?
Is it because Writers doing it on purpose?
Or Is there a bet that a snail can go around the world before it finish?(Snails vs Sinnoh Make Your bets)

Because when Hoenn was airing the DS was released back in 2004, so GameFreak had to get a move on with the next gen for Nintendo's new handheld.

This time there's no Nintendo handheld to replace the DS at the moment, and since two Pokemon gens were never done on the same system, the writers have to stretch out the saga until Nintendo announces a new handheld for GameFreak to start the 5th gen with.

Granted, I fully expect the 5th gen to start sometime around late 2010, so I don't think it'll fall too far out of place with other sagas.

While this may be a longshot, but I'm also suspecting that Brawl being delayed may have something to do with it.

See, they wanted Lucario's debut in the anime to coincide with Brawl's release, so they made it so that they reach Veilstone and meet Maylene at the same time Brawl is released.

Hmm.

Red/Green/Blue/Yellow - Gameboy Classic
Gold/Silver/Crystal - Gameboy Color
Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/Fire Red/Leaf Green - Gameboy Advance
Diamond/Pearl - Nintendo DS

Well, that's what we've gotten since the year of 1996 (1998 outside JP I believe). DP still has a 3rd version to be made if it follows how Red and Green/Blue, Gold and Silver, and Ruby and Sapphire had a "better" version of the game. Also, as Scott85 analyzed theoretically for years to come, the DP series has another 2 years or so to be completed until it lands on another "to be continued in the next region" phase. My hopes for the next batch of new monsters leaves no questions for us to speculate and answer a few that's been discussed (eg. Manaphy's baby is Fione yet it doesn't evolve whatsoever, and Mewtwo, whether or not the specie was created by the "god" Pokemon).

Sinnoh may be taking longer to get to the gym leaders, but that doesn't mean it isn't interesting. In between Gardenia and Maylene, we've had Happiny hatch, a Cynthia appearence, Hunter J's return, Mira's appearence, Dawn losing TWO contests, the Tag Battle Tournament, the trade, Gardenia's return, another TG appearence, the return of Butch and Cassidy, and the Gligar capture. So although it's taking longer to get to gyms, there is much more exciting stuff happening in between than we've had during any other region.

It's also because realistically Sinnoh's quite huge. It's taking longer because they have more area to cover.

It's not really going that slow, either. It just feels that way since the gap between the second and third gym in the game is quite sizable.

But...that means its going slow unless they speed up later on.

By AG70 Ash already had 5 badges, in D/P 70 Ash only has 3. Sinnoh is going at a pace of two badges slower than Hoenn.

It will probably speed up after Veilstone, since the games do have a large gap that takes at least about two-three days of gameplay between the second and third Gyms. I think it's actually the largest in-game gap between Gyms ever, really. We've already passed through Hearthhome and Solaceon - two major towns from the games. It will probably pick up now. I think we'll see Wake at Episode 86, at the LATEST.

I think Ash would defeat Wake in March with his newly caught Rhyperior!

Seriously, I think Ash would defeat Wake in August with Pikachu, his newly evolved Grotle and Monferno!

Edit:I don't think it would speed up!They would make it as slow as possible.Perhaps it is because it is going to be the last season of the Pokémon anime.

Well, they do seem to be throwing hints at us right and left, if this is indeed the final season (though, I really doubt that D/P will be the final one).

I mean, they've been foreshadowing Ash's inevitable, future battle against the Elite Four, with the appearences of both Lucian and Cynthia.

Plus, there's the whole storyline involving Aura and Aura Guardians which was originally in the 8th movie. And amazingly, the writers decided to bring all of this into the anime (YAY!!). Anyway, I'm very interested in this, and I can't wait to find out what they are planning to do with this storyline!! ^_^

Oh, and by the way, I can't wait for the dub version of the Spiritomb episode. I really wanna see that episode!! :-D

Is this where I don't mention that I finally picked up the game about a week ago, and still haven't beaten the second gym?

But yeah, really, what can happen between these two towns? What events take place there in the game? I assume there'll be a contest when they drop by Animeexclusive Town, but DP is relatively filler-free, so I assume the gap won't be THAT large.

I think the burnout of rushing the Battle Frontier saga really pissed the writers off, so they want to make sure the same thing doesn't happen this time. If they take their time slowly with Sinnoh, and simply have Ash possibly challenge the Elite 4 after, they don't have to rush in another saga afterward before Gen 5.

The BF saga was probably meant to last 2 years, as you can tell from the slow start it has and how long the gap between Noland and Greta was, but once they found out the D/P release date they had to rush like hell.

By eliminating a filler saga altogether this time and simply making Sinnoh very long, the writers won't have to do that again.

I don't really get why people complain about the gaps between gym badges with Diamond and Pearl. It's not as if they're just throwing in random filler episodes like they did in Johto (though I still maintain, most of the Johto fillers were actually really good), or even half of AG (which didn't have that many great fillers...). We've been getting plot episode after plot episode, with character development, captures, releases, etc, etc in a way that we've never, ever had before.

I mean, seriously. People moan that Johto was shit because there were too many fillers, and now people are moaning that there are too many plot-based episodes? Does it really matter how long the gap between gym battles are when there's so much more going on underneath and the series is going to take the exact same amount of time between now and the next generation anyway (since such things have nothing to do with the anime and are purely down to GameFreak's development of the next games, something that certainly wont be happening for years yet).

Seriously, just shut up and enjoy what you're getting. >_>

We Moan if we want to,it is not up to you,did the topic complain about the speed? No so Shhhh. The topic just asking why, tell me english was your second langauge please

I like the fact we're not getting random fillers and the fillers we are getting are interesting. It's nice to see a gym battle again and as many have said, the pace should pick up after this. I'm suspecting Wake will show sometime this spring and Fantina will appear in the Summer or early fall. Then Byron will likely come close to the end of the year.

I can tell you that English is my second language, my first language is Chinese!

Pikachu, Buizel, Turtwig. Trust me.

But Ash has some strange habit, like Grass VS Flying,Fire VS Water, Water VS Electric, etc but I have forgotten that he also like Grass VS Grass, Fire VS Fire, Electric VS Electric, etc so Floatzel, Turtwig and Monferno then.
