Why is there a countdown to March 22 on the main page?

Just curious. Also, what is EDT on that? I'm sure there is more than one Eastern Daylight Time in the world.

And no, there is only one EDT in the world, and that's -4:00 UTC (during Daylight Savings Time, that's EST, -5:00 UTC). If you're thinking Eastern Europe or something like that, Europe and Asia are all too big to have a single eastern time zone. Other time zones are generally named after the countries they cover.

Umm, Eastern Daylight Time Australia??. *facepalm*

Platinum release date hasn't even been announced yet where i live, probably won't be out until winter at least.

That may be the American point of view. But in Australia, it is simply EST.

I call it AEST, and WA's is WAST...

And with daylight saving you having AEDST and WADST...

We have to keep in mind that North America is clearly the centre of the universe.

Clearly, because, you know, "America" and Austalia don't both start with 'A'. That's preposterous. How could anyone confuse the two EST/EDT if an 'A' isn't in front of it?

...Wasn't the damn countdown thing on EDT even before today? I know the time was off by an hour for a week or two. Which isn't cool, since Australia's EDT is in effect when our EST is in effect...though for a while (week ot two), they run on the same course until the other switches over.

It verges on insane.

One quite obviously starts with a '"'.

...

My facetiousness is increasing, which is a signal that I need to head off for some rest...

"In domestic contexts the leading "Australian" is often dropped in speech though the abbreviations remain."

AEST is your Eastern, UTC+10. EST is our Eastern, UTC-5. EDT is just the Daylight hours, which is of course what it's on for March 22.

Of course, if you want, I could say Q-time. Wouldn't confuse anyone at all, definitely not. Besides, English Platinum's the same there as here. You're getting what we're getting. Nintendo Australia's PAL localization doesn't count for the region-free DS. It's really little more than sticking a different label on the cartridge and giving it a higher rating for OMG GAMBLINGS.

And yes, the United States is the center of the world, like it or not (I don't really like it, it means everyone blames us for everything). Don't worry, you'll get Pt soon enough. Or import it, the E-for-everyone sticker's a lot more friendly-looking than the !!!YELLOW!!! OH NOES PG sticker that the government-controlled ratings board there has. You want Pt to come out there sooner? Get on Nintendo's and your government's asses about it. I'd definitely say that the delay in release dates isn't because they have to add all the u's to words that have them in Commonwealth spelling.

...no seriously, I wanna know. Why's PG gotta be that "OH GOD PANIC" black-on-yellow? The M rating's an innocent-looking white on blue!

well, given the game comes out in NA at the time given, i should think it would follow our time zone anyway.
...Que? The US has one big time zone, you say? So Central, Mountain, and Pacific don't exist?

Because otherwise, it'll /really/ be March 22 in California when it's only really 9:01pm, March 21. The logic, it resonates.

People in EDT will be the first to get it. The countdown's to the first English release of Pt. Midnight release, you know. Unfortunately for me, Target opens at 10 AM so I can't get it until then, and I'm on CDT.

I don't know why I even support Australia (I come from New Zealand, and you'll understand our hatred of Aussies if you were a Kiwi).

Anyways, I don't really care what country the countdown is in, because I'm going to get Pt on/near the release date anyway. :p Thankyou Play Asia.

btw TTE, I agree with you on the whole Australia PG thing. lol, Australia doesn't even have R rated games, all games higher than MA15+ are refused

Notice how there's never any countdowns for the Japanese release of anything?

I guess nothing actually *exists* until NoA gets their hands on it.
