Hai guys. It's been a while since i've built a team so i figured i'ld do something a bit different from my usual wierdness ... yet is still not using many obvious OU pokes.
The inspiriation for this team came from my play through of Leaf Green.
As i was doing the Seafoam Islands bit for Articuno i figured that the icy bird is the least loved ... in terms of being used in battles ... of the three Kanto birds. There is a reason for that, the 4x Stealth Rock weakness. However with a rock resistant spinner that problem is sort of solved.
Another point is that if i'm using the ice legend ... why not build a hail team. It's less common then sand so it would be interesting to try. And here is my Hail Team
The Lead of Sacrifice
Froslass @ Focus Sash
Snow Cloak
Timid
4 Def/ 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Taunt
Spikes
Destiny Bond
Ice Beam
Standard Suicide lead Froslass. As a lead i've found her more effictive than i first thought she would be. With the exception of Aerodactyl most other leads are stopped short with taunt and the fossil bird is at risk of a OHKO with Ice Beam.
I have been having some issues with Scarf'd leads getting the drop on froslass, rendering taunt useless and d-bond not quick enough to be triggered.
The President of Hail
Barrack Obamasnow @ Choice Band
Snow Warning
Adamant
6 Hp / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Ice Shard
Wood Hammer
Earthquake
Focus Punch
Well this guys job is obvious ... aside from being the President ... It's still funny dammit!!!
I am tempted to replace Focus Punch with Swords Dance and the Choice Band with either Life Orb or Lefties. The move limitation of the Choice Band can suck when trying to "sweep". Even though he plays as more of a hit and runner.
Need a little help with the choice for that
Lord Kelvin
Articuno @ Leftovers
Pressure
Timid
252 Hp / 40 SpA / 216 Spe
Blizzard
Roost
Toxic
Subsitiute
The Main event. The hail is up ... i hopefully have atleast two layers of spikes up ... no opponent SR ... and in comes the 'Cuno.
Blizzard rapes anything not-resisting or calledFatEggNurse Blissey. Sub-Toxic-Roost is the secondary aspect of this 'Cuno. While there is no ev's in the defences, the Hp's being maxed result in some decent durability (90-100-125 defences if you are wondering) it's a simple stratergy: throw a sub up ... use toxic on any non poison or steel, ... roost off damage subbing whenever it breaks and wait for either poison to do it's magic or pressure to waste their pp.
Unless someone can suggest another more effictive way of using 'Cuno in hail ofcourse.
The Record Player
Hitmontop @ Leftovers
Intimidate
Adamant
252 Hp / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Foresight
Rapid Spin
Close Combat
Sucker Punch
Another pokemon family i had always wanted to find a use for. And now that it gets foresight as Tyrogues new HGSS move, Ghost's no longer block the spinning away of those dirty stones stopping 'Cuno from comming in.
Intimidate helps reduce the immidiate threat of a phys attacker for a while, as i try to spin. Sucker Punch covers the speed issue and with CC gives good coverage.
The Key ofDestiny Revenge killing ... Roxas?
Gallade @ Choice Scarf
Steadfast
Jolly
4 Hp / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Close Combat
Night Slash
Fire Punch
Thunder Punch
Gallade is sort of the Black Sheep of the team. Adding to my Flying weakness issues doesn't help me but there isn't another attacker i liked for the slot. Cue a few people telling me to use Infernape and Metagross, while they may be good i would rather use a less ... common revenge killer.
Mr. Sterrence or How I learned to heal in Hail
Clefable @ Leftovers
Magic Guard
Careful
252 Hp / 44 Def / 212 SpD
Wish
Protect
Aromatherapy / Fire Blast
Seismic Toss
I like Clefable, it's like a Blissey only less fail and more unpredictable. I was originally tempted to use it as a dual screener with SR as a lead.
It became a bit more useful however it also gained an odd thorn. As a Cleric it's awesome, Wish Passing, Protect for scouting, Aromatherapy for Team Status healing (Poison on Hitmontop thanks to toxic spikes mostly) and Seismic toss to smack somthing around when it needs too.
However Scizor and Ghosts in general worry me. I don't like being left with not moves that can hit a ghost. Same with My Fire punch Gallade not being the most physically strongest in the world. but the loss of Aromatherapy (dispite only ever using it once in 15 battles) would be annoying when i need to clear toxic spikes with Top poisoned.
So there is the team ... it has it's weaknesses along with some serious strengths. PLease give it a through rating and some advice.
Thanks.
