Okay, so we know that Game Freak didn't put the Battle Frontier into ORAS. In fact, not even the Battle Tower made it in. Instead, we got XY's lackluster Battle Maison. The same exact one. They didn't even really try to change it up!

Now, this isn't a thread to whine about the Battle Frontier not being in ORAS. This is thread as why you think Game Freak thought they put in the Battle Maison. Dis they not have enough time to do anything else? Were they just lazy? Or did they think that we had enough content already?

I personally don't like the implications of the last option that I put down, but that doesn't mean it's not true. So, any thoughts?

PS: If this thread gets too out of hand, please have the mods shut down this thread. This isn't a flame war. It's an intelligent discussion.

I think they used it because it was easy, and they thought there was enough other stuff in the game to satisfy most people.

Even if it was the Tower, it would function exactly like the Maison. Maybe they didn't want to use the same exact facilities and didn't have time for something new considering the close release dates, so instead they put in the Maison and gave the Chatelain and the Frontier a bit of a back-story.

Maybe they're pulling a Gen 3 scenario where there was a single Battle facility in the first games of the Gen, didn't get much in the remakes and finally getting a Frontier in the third version. Seems more likely to me than DLC.

I honestly don't think there's much to speculate.

The Sinnoh Battle Frontier appeared in HGSS because it was already made. Instead of making an aesthetically different, but functionally identical Battle Tower, they just copy-and-pasted the already made Maison. Part of the reason I'm not feeling a DLC/time-locked Battle Frontier is because they acknowledge that the first facility will be a Battle Tower. What's the point in that? They already have the Battle Tower. Even if they did decide to make it, what becomes of the Battle Maison then? Would they just write it out of the game? Or would it just sit there purposelessly?

One of the Chatelains asks the player to become the new owner of the Maison after they're gone and the Battle Frontier is built, so the facility will presumably be revamped. It might become a hub for important characters (like gym leaders) to challenge the player.

They added a fair amount of content in these games, with secret bases, contests and soaring, amongst others. The games themselves would have been developed in a year and a bit. Upstream teams like writers and concept artists would have begun work a few months before XY's release and the game would have gone gold a month ago. That's not a lot of time to put in a fair amount of content already.

Battle Maison would have been the battle facility that provided that largest content to work put in ratio, essentially a copy paste with some additional characters. Parity with XY (ORAS already are much larger and better games than XY) would have only been a bonus. It also provides a link between Hoenn and Kalos, something they were keen on doing.

I vote laziness on their part. They spent too much time adding features we didn't really need while avoiding ones that should have been included.

I mean really, they didn't even have to change the inside if they really wanted to, they could have just changed the exterior and palette inside.

Same reason why they copy-pasted the BF of Platinum into HG/SS- it was the easiest route. I'm not sure how quickly development of an entire made-from-scratch area takes, but I guess they figured they didn't have enough time for that sort of thing. Besides, the Maison serves its purpose, at least... without being a haxing bastard, mostly.
If the rumors are true, then they either kept the BF as DLC because they needed more time to get it perfect... or they just wanna take my money and SD card space. I'm holding out for both reasons... (oh, and if each facility is individually purchased, I'll be mad enough to ignore it altogether.)

While the Battle Maison is my favourite Battle Tower of all, it was pretty lazy to include it instead of a Battle Frontier.

To me at least, adding a Inverse Battle facility in it would have partially made up for the lack of Battle Frontier. (Seriously, i would be most of my game time in the Inverse Battle facility).

Please let there be a Battle Frontier available for DLC ;_; I don't mind the Maison, but I miss the Battle Facilities from Emerald, especially Battle Factory. I really loved using rental pokemons because they were so much fun and it provided me ideas for move-sets and stuff.

As for why a copy-paste Maison in ORAS... I'm with most of the people - same reason HGSS shared the same Battle Frontier as the Sinnoh Battle Frontier. Same generation, same format. Wynaut.

My guess is that the developers wanted to put the Battle Frontier facilities in but simply did not have enough time to program everything.

The developers may have included the Battle Maison at the last minute to give players access to a battle facility that already exists in the programming (from XY).

We already have one, it's just in Mauville instead of the Battle Resort.

From what i searched, it's the same as XY, just one guy with three pokemon. I want a full-fledged Inverse Battle facility with their own Chatelaines (or could be the same ones from the regular battles but with different teams) where you do streaks, gain BP and you can do Singles, Doubles, Triples and Rotation battles.

I'm most likely asking for too much and will probably never happen, but a person can dream.

Edit: It's actualy the same damn guy from XY.

That would actually be a really clever way to keep it relevant!

I agree, they could have at LEAST put in the Battle Tower and used the tower replica to hint towards the next facility, but at least there's nice Multi Battle partners. I still have hopes that at least one of the Facilities will make it into a patch, along with some Emerald stuff.

What really gets to me about the Battle Maison and the whole battle resort is that everyone is telling you that basically the only way to prove yourself as a good trainer is to win at the battle mason. I'm terrible at those kind of battles. I don't find them even the tiniest bit fun. The only reason I ever go there is if I need BP.

Theres even some lady who tells you in a nutshell that if you want to succeed you need to abandon the team you've grown to love for stronger Pokemon. So basically all the Pokemon I love are terrible. That's what I get out of her, and out of the whole Battle mason in itself.

My vote- laziness on GameFreak's part.

Possibly ran out of time, possibly are just holding off on it for...something later on down the road. Something tells me GF isn't just being lazy.

I'm on the other end of the spectrum. The Pokemon I love are all banned from the Maison. :(

Hell, even if I could use them I'd still get my ass kicked. Which is why I hate the Maison and, well...pretty much every Battle facility. The RNG actively conspires against you.
